Yep. And he was even getting in the chelsea side occasionally under poch .. bags of potential there. You always pay a premium when signing off players from the big clubs (like carvalho ) I’d love us to sign broja thought he was mustard last time .

Not sure about purple patch. In the premiership he was definitely one of our best players since we signed him until the end of the season and this at the higher level. I guess sometimes. It’s horses for courses.. whilst Martin certainly turned things round for the likes of arma and arribo Alcaraz kinda went the other way . Personally I think he stilll did a decent job for us, for russ I think it came down to preference for stuey who was also playing wel. but still I think Alcaraz did enough in his prem half season to show potential and he’s still only a kid who’s still struggling with language etc .. seems a shame to give up on him

I’m all for signing Fraser tbh : I think this position is one we don’t really need to spend much money on get Fraser on the cheap instead of wasting tons of budget on the likes of carvalho or Clarke. good thing with Fraser is for a winger he has decent end product .. very good finisher..he also sounded like he really wants to be here which is nice.. imo the likes of carvalho or Clarke are no guarantee of doing a better job so might as welll take him and spend the money where it needs spending on a striker and gk

Lol what a load of bullshit regarding Alcaraz: fans like him cos he runs around a lot ? Adam makes him sound like elyounoussi or something I like him because a creative and goal scoring am with super high potential he’s already been called up for Argentina and had juventus in for him you don’t see juve after will smallbone . Maybe he doesn’t fit into martins groovy gang but he was absolutely one of our best players in the prem last time and people seem quick to forget that Same goes for ABK in a way too don’t think anyone on here would have preferred stephens or bednarek to him at the start of our last prem season .. he was so good he got instantly called up for Germany and was nearly on a par with lavia at the first half of that season

I can even remember senmens using the fact our more expensive buys didn’t work out as a reason to keep buying players in the cheaper range .. I think the reality is though the majority of the league are willing to spend more then us now on the calibre of players we used to sign .. look at the difference between vvd wanyama and o Riley Celtic are now wanting 25 mil not 12 . So unless we step up our record transfers we will have to continue to look at other ways to do things on the cheap .:

I think mainly one of the problems Is we have kind of stood still on the amounts we are spending on players .. think back to when we got promoted alongside West Ham we where probably on a equal standing with them when we came back up ., but we are still shopping in the same price ranges as we where back then under cortese ten years or more later.. Now they are spending 40 whilst we are getting nosebleeds at anything over twenty million :. soending big money isn’t everything but it’s for sure a big advantage and we are already at the stage we can worry about the likes of a villa or West Ham taking our players ..

It’s a bit depressing when everyone is acting like Brighton being interested is like they are gonna blow us out the water like they are Real Madrid or something .. I get they have had a good period but really we are bigger club then Brighton .. but we do need to get with the times and realise 15 million fees ain’t much these days and most prem clubs will pay more then us

Meh to carvalho hope we don’t pay silly money for him.. give dibling or Sam amo the game time instead they both look more exciting ,: Oriley is a much better fit for us as a central midfielder that can contribute to attack. surely it makes more sense to throw the money at a proper cf rather then spend unnecessary money on wingers that are debatable if they are better then what we already have

Yeah, Russ seemed like he wasn’t happy that Alcaraz didn’t speak good English and it made it hard for him to play in the ways he wanted . I feel it’s a shame though if we don’t utilise him .. on the back of the that last premiership season he looked a 30n player and obviously juve wanted him so there’s obviously a ton of potential with him

Yeah we seem to really stockpile these wide players . That’s bbd edozie sulemana Sam amo potentially Fraser and we are still looking at others too .. it’s not really helping in the devolopement of these young players either . Take tella for example was only getting the odd start here and there for us and made little impact (albeit at a higher level) then when he went to a club that plays him week in week out he realised his potential and went to another level .. it’s hard with how many wide players we have for anyone to get the games to do that People excited about jack Clarke at Sunderland .. but he was getting all the minutes at Sunderland .. if Sula Sam amo or edozie was week in week out for Sunderland they could probably be just as good Imo

When you see it like that it looks very much like a championship team on paper .. if we play that system it’s hard to pinpoint where the creativity would come from .. I do think Arma will prove all the doubters wrong from last time we where in the prem I have high hopes he can bring his championship form to the prem this time. Also really hope Alcaraz can get into Martins plans this season, he was quality at the end of our last season in the prem so we know he’s capable .. just seems russ likes the English core in his team .. but if we give him games he could actually be easily our best creative midfielder

As I said Celtic are now at the stage where they have received 25m for the last two record signings .. they are hardly gonna sell someone rated much much higher for less are they? meanwhile we are still spending similar fees to what we where ten years ago whilst the rest of the league has moved on even clubs like Brighton and Fulham have higher record fees.. funny thing is we don’t mind spending the extra few millions that could make a difference to buy players for goztepe

Yeah but but If you ignore the extreme ones I think sone of them try to be balanced . I was a bit meh on this signing at first but he does have some super finishes in his Blackburn goals which look light years better then what we have had to put up with from che I think whoever it was above that said they get jayrod vibes could be a good expectation level just not sure it will be the pre injury jay rod

Not having this, he was equally shit in the prem playing differant tactics under three different managers he’s just a awful shot stopper who people try to rationalise his constant selection by looking at the less goalkeeper traits of his game like his passing .. it’s not the system he is just poor

20 m for Oriley still seems a bit wishful thinking Imo. They have received 25m for both tierney and jota so if ORiley is really the best thing since VVD I don’t see why they would be accepting less here

I don’t realky see the point in paying that for Clarke .. we have some exciting young wingers already and he’s not prem proven either .. rather have Fraser and get that rak guy from palace .. striker position that needs the big money

I just think it was pretty much like the tall pall situation .. player gets brought in by another manager then isn’t wanted anymore. difference is though with che we have seen him feature heavily for years so know exactly what he can and can’t do .like people talk about ches hold up play and that he puts a shift in. I’m sure the likes of onuachu would have some qualities too but we haven’t seen enough to even really have an opinion yet. but out of strikers that we have seen play a lot for us I can’t think of anyone who was a worse finisher then Adams

Latest saying we are preparing close to Scottish record bid .. i have a strong feeling we are gonna pull this one off.. this one has martins fingerprints all over it and russ seems exactly the type of manager who is all buddy with ex players and that could be a huge factor in orileys decision . this looks like being a huge coup a central midfielder who managed 19 goals and 18 assists .. strong in the tackle lovely touch ..really exciting this one

You say that but it’s not really fair to compare him to the likes of Carillo who simply hardly played .. honestly cant think of a player more likely to miss sitters then che .. Shane long was bad and che was like hold my beer
