    Good News!!

To me, this is indeed good news - let's hope Burnley finishes their season tonight with a win...
  2. Nah, that's the easy way out. This is when the season gets tense - too bad all the odds are against us! Realistically we will be relegated but I have to keep believing
  3. 20. NOTT'M FOR.......Plyd 44...(GD-17 )...Pts...49 21. BARNSLEY..........Plyd 43...(GD -14)...Pts...47 ------------------------------------------------ 22. NORWICH...........Plyd 44...(GD -9 )...Pts...46 23. SAINTS.............Plyd 44...(GD -21)....Pts..44 24. CHARLTON.........Plyd 43...(GD -23)....Pts..35 REMAINING FIXTURES: NORWICH : Reading (H); CHARLTON(A). NOTT'M FOREST: Blackpool (A); SAINTS (H). BARNSLEY: Coventry (A); Wolves (H); PLYMOUTH (A). SAINTS: Burnley (H); FOREST (A). We will probably go down. But until it is mathematically proven I'll keep looking for a miracle. I can't really imagine all the possible scenarios, but unless we get 6 points from the last two games, we're certainly gone. So imagine we pull a surprise win over Burnley and then out of nowhere find the quality to beat Forest on the last day - this is the only scenario that *might* end up with us playing in the CCC next season: 20. SAINTS.............Plyd 46...(GD -21)....Pts..50 21. NOTT'M FOR.......Plyd 45...(GD-17 )...Pts...49 ------------------------------------------------ 22. BARNSLEY..........Plyd 43...(GD -14)...Pts...47 23. NORWICH...........Plyd 44...(GD -9 )...Pts...46 REMAINING FIXTURES: NORWICH : Reading (H); CHARLTON(A). NOTT'M FOREST: Blackpool (A) BARNSLEY: Coventry (A); Wolves (H); PLYMOUTH (A). The question then is: can two from Forest, Barnsley and Norwich be kept below 50 points? The answer: probably not, but this is the slim hope we have...
  4. Because it's such a nice place!..... Really, it is ;-)
  5. For us overseas supporters it gets quite boring when Pompey stuff takes all the attention. I have no relation to that city or that team whatsoever - I'm here for the Saints
  6. Don't worry, people. In 10 years we'll laugh at this... (Annoying result but life goes on - either in CCC or League One, most probably the latter...)
  7. To be honest I've decided long ago that the only way I can support a football club is by staying positive. Then second I'd feel suicidal about Saints I'd quit being a football supporter. But to turn that around, I'll never quit supporting Saints so that means I'll never be a negative supporter. Q.E.D. Don't mistake that for not caring about the results. I absolutely hate it when we lose. But long term plans like Jan & The Kids will always excite me - whether they succeed or fail. Oh and one last thing: life really, really is too short to care about boardrooms. Suits are suits - it's what's happens with a ball on grass that gets my attention
  8. You are absolutely stark raving mad, and I applaud you for it! Seeing Watford getting tonked by Reading I realised that our side must actually be able to play football at a decent level getting 4 points from Reading this season. Yes, the inept performances are plentiful but I just need something to keep the perspective. I just found this forum recently (kept running into a "game over" message at the old forum) and I am astounded by the pessism-bordering-mass-suicide that prevails here. Either I'll give it a go as happy-clappy makeweight or I'm off in the near future. Give me you worst...
  9. I doubt that Saga will come back to Aalborg. They wanted to keep him, but could not agree on the economical side. He made a very slow start to his Aalborg career - along with all the other players that were crowned Danish champions in May. Caretaker manager Bruce Rioch never got going and the team had a 2-2-6 record in the league by early November and . Sagas efforts matched the team effort: he worked tirelessly but didn't find the net before a late September cup game against lower league opposition. Supporters recognised and applauded his effort but the lack of goals was not too popular with the fans... Aalborg managed to claim a ridiculously easy spot in the Champions League playoff by brushing aside FK Modrica and FBK Kaunas. This earned them games against ManU, Celtic and Villareal. Suddenly Saga looked a much better player than in the Danish league games. In the 6-3 away defeat at Villareal Saga was by far Aalborgs MoM and the supporters were warming to him. After the Villareal game Rioch was shipped off (the game was lost partly because of tired players and he made a grand total of zero substitutions!) and things took a turn for the better for Aalborg and Saga. Under caretaker manager Kuhn the team did not lose a single game - they got 7 wins and 5 draws! In the league they claimed 4 wins and 3 draws, in the cup they won 2 games, and in the Champions League they got draws against ManU and Villareal and a victory over Celtic (giving them 3rd spot in the group and knocking Celtic out of european competitions this season). Saga got more goals in this period and by the end of his loan spell the supporters were quite keen on getting him signed. The DoF admitted as much but also said that it was not a likely move as the economical matters were a stumbling block. And so back to Southampton he went, with 5 goals in 24 games. But counting from when the team got back on track it was 4 goals in 13 games. His confidence should be ok and his match fitness shouldn't be too bad either after playing a lot the last few months. Aalborg fans actually complained that they should have received money for getting Saga match fit, so all in all the loan move might prove to be a good move by SFC. If he starts banging them in regularly, I'd be quite happy ;-)
