1. He was called up as 3rd keeper for the match against Czech Rep. on September 3rd: http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2014/08/28/13/15/140828-mnt-roster
2. I actually like Wilson's tendency to see both sides of the story or at least not vilify Cortese completely. The angle is clearly that now is good, before was not so good, but there is still praise for Cortese and the foundation he built. I can buy that version of our past; Cortese and Pochettino were important parts of our ascendancy, and we have to build on the best parts of their legacy instead of starting from scratch trying to erase them from our history. Peace, bros...
3. 1 Kelvin Davis 2 Nathaniel Clyne - England 3 Maya Yoshida - Japan 4 Morgan Schneiderlin - France 5 Florin Gardos - Romania 6 Jose Fonte - Portugal 7 Shane Long - Ireland 8 Steven Davis - N.Ireland 9 Jay Rodriguez * (injured) 10 Sadio Mane - Senegal 11 Dusan Tadic - Serbia 12 Victor Wanyama - Kenya 16 James Ward-Prowse * (injured) 17 Toby Alderweireld - Belgium 18 Jack Cork 19 Graziano Pelle - Italy 21 Ryan Bertrand 23 Fraser Forster - England 24 Emmanuel Mayuka - Zambia 25 Paolo Gazzaniga 27 Lloyd Isgrove 28 Harrison Reed - England U-20 33 Matthew Targett - England U-20 38 Sam McQueen 40 Sam Gallagher 41 Cody Cropper - USA-U23 -- Artur Boruc - Poland -- Gaston Ramirez - Uruguay -- Dani Osvaldo - Italy Cropper will get a call up for USA, right? Isgrove should be involved with Wales U21 unless he is injured. Ward-Prowse should certainly expect to be back in England U21 once he recovers from his injury, Gallagher should return to England U20, and Rodriguez can hope to be called back to England. That's 17 call-ups and 4 more from injuries = 21 call ups! Add to that Cork and Bertrand as possible England candidates in the future and McQueen perhaps in one of the English U-teams? Then you are left with only Gazzaniga and Davis as the only players with no chance of a national team call up
4. First a bit of angar at the news, but then entertainment from the witty people in here

Bertrand

Bertrand starting to regain confidence as a footballer and speaking out against Chelsea? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2773506/Ryan-Bertrand-blasts-Chelsea-shipped-loan-nine-times.html
6. Maybe they should be included in the "clubs with a plan" bracket? The much quoted QPR fan wrote: http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/news/36364/ "In the end, it seems that the British football press and pundits have, not for the first time, overlooked the value of a long term plan and strategy. Once you get below the big six or seven clubs in this country it's the clubs investing in youth development, European scouting and training facilities, with aims and targets set years in the future, rather than weeks, that are doing well. You can tell these clubs – Swansea, Southampton, West Brom until recently – a mile away because they're the ones who make apparently leftfield managerial appointments like Michael Laudrup, Mauricio Pochettino and Ronald Koeman rather than rushing to throw money at the latest loud-mouthed flavour of the month i.e. Tim Sherwood." Maybe he should delete "until recently" after West Brom...
7. True on so many levels. We're deep into uncharted territory...
8. Much better quality here: http://gfycat.com/ContentDifferentHen Go watch that 50 times

10. TEAMSHEET: Sadio Mané makes his @premierleague debut, while Florin Gardoș misses out with a slight calf strain. #saintsfc
11. I'd say Mané would be more useful against teams where we are under pressure and need an outlet - he will keep them busy at the other end. When people park the bus we need Tadic's trickery more IMHO. Luxury problem, though, isn't it?
12. So much angar, young padawan. Enjoy the football
13. Assuming that Davis, Gallagher, and Targett can all accept a role as backup/rotation, we still have six players outside the 11 that would all expect to start - two in each line. Yoshida and Gardos in defense, Davis and JWP in midfield, and Long and Mané in attack...
14. Just now, I realise my personal post-meltdown therapy is done as I am also pleased for Adam. I am hoping(a little) for an Everton win, but I'm just watching a game of footy, and if one of the players provide something specatcular, then I'm all for it. If Lallana comes good for them, he is a remarkable player... Never mind him, we've got a good thing going ourselves with Koemans boys
15. sums it up very nicely. Not a good or bad draw for either side and should be a close match so winnable for both teams...
16. Wow, this guy is unbelievably cool. I expected a Mertesacker-type (lanky, clumsy but good in the air), but he seems quite agile and alert in his game. Quite a cool partnership with Fonte. Toby has a great reputation and has looked good so far, and Yoshida hasn't let us down this season, so I am strangely relaxed about our CB situation.
17. So it begins. This is one injury we can cover having Davis, Cork, Morgan, and Wanyama already fighting for three places in the middle. But once several injuries start adding up, we could be in trouble. Let's hope for a speedy recovery for JWP and if we can avoid injuries to the other central midfielders in the meantime, we shouldn't lose too much ground on the basis of this injury (like Gazza for Boruc or Hooiveld for Lovren/Fonte)...
18. Very good win which highlights that we have a squad now. Cork, JWP, Toby, Yoshida, Rodriguez etc. can all add something valuable to this team...
19. "Gel? I tried Gel onsch and it made me look like thisch"
20. So Davis was thinking "Here we go again, there is no way of stopping a near post shot. It's impossible. Impossible I tell you!" Forster makes the save. Davis reacts:
21. Ohhh Forster with an excellent save from Podolski
22. I like the look of this dark Shane Long - the number 10. He is a chaser of lost causes, and by the looks of it they have many lost causes in Senegal that he has chased in his childhood.
