  1. You can currently back us at around 30/1 on the Betfair exchange.
  2. It's 100% fixed. I bet we end up playing a PL side in the next round.
  3. Did you receive an email confirmation after paying? I parked at Gerrards Cross station and scanned the QR code there to pay. It all looked genuine and I got an email almost immediately which quoted the time, location and my reg number. I second Sue's recommendation of the moneysavingexpert forum. I think I've seen information on there that "fines" from APCOA at station car parks cannot be enforced if you defend them properly.
  4. Yes he claimed that he and Gordon Watson had a plan to kick the ball out for a throw-in as soon as they could from the kick-off. There was apparently a "spread betting" market where they could make a healthy profit if the first throw-in was well within the first minute. According to MLT, he kicked a long ball the out to the left but didn't hit it hard enough and Neil Shipperly, who was not in on the plan, managed to keep the ball in play. This was supposedly a televised match away to Wimbledon. After he wrote this in his autobiography, I seem to remember that some people looked more closely into it and what happenned in that game didn't really match up to what he had described but I could be wrong about that.
  5. But hopefully not at the same time.
  6. Or Lawrie McMenemy who was also done for drink-driving. Doubly embarrassing because he had previously been fronting an advert for Barbican alcohol-free lager.
  7. Yes I read somewhere that just 5 clubs from the North of England (2 each from Manchester and Merseyside, plus Newcastle) in the EPL is the lowest number since its formation.
  8. I wouldn't worry about it. He's soon going to have plenty of free time on his hands to attend games.
  9. If Norwich lost by 3, they would "only" need to win by 4 to get the 7 goal turnaround. Still very unlikely of course.
  10. Is that us singing at them, or them at us - or both.
  11. Just one win all season and 11 points wasn't it? Mind you, I'm not sure we would have done much better if we'd been promoted instead with Burley.

    Play-Off watch

Ah yes, I'd forgotten that one.
  13. I think this blog sums it up. https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2024/apr/23/for-sheffield-united-and-co-the-premier-league-brings-a-unique-brew-of-misery

    Play-Off watch

Four I make it. 2 in the 4-4 vs Norwich, 1 late consolation in the 3-1 defeat at Bristol and 1 in the 4-2 win against Sunderland. All scored by Armstrong. Can't remember missing any (so far!)
  15. Interesting that the Villa keeper Martinez got a 2nd yellow card in the penalty shootout against Lille, having received one during the game. But he didn't get a red because apparently, cards during the game do not carry forward into a shootout. I never knew that was a rule.
  16. I remember a season in the 90s (I think when Graham Souness was our manager) when we played at Villa on the last day. We needed a point to stay up and Villa needed a point to guarantee a European spot. Everyone said they would play out a stale 0-0 but of course we still managed to lose it 1-0 and only stayed up because other results went our way.
  17. I don't think many would expect Wolves v Coventry to be the most exciting quarter-finals but the others will need to be pretty good to beat that!
  18. They started the light and pyro show a bit early.
  19. Fisher didn't actually play in the '76 final. He was the named substitute (only 1 sub allowed in those days of course), but wasn't brought on during the game. Having said that, he played a vital part in our Cup triumph that year. If it wasn't for his late equaliser against Villa in the 3rd round it would never have happened. I always find it a bit sad when players put their medals up for sale. I hope it's not out of financial necessity.
  20. As I type that, Norwich come back to take the lead at home.
  21. A good weekend for away teams in the championship so far. As things stand, 9 away teams have won or are winning. The other 3 games are level.
  22. Since 2000 the winner of the Championship playoff had finished in position: 3rd - 11 times 4th - 4 times 5th - 6 times 6th - 3 times
  23. Available on Betfair as well. You probably need an account but no need to bet on the game. I started watching just in time to see the Watford goal 🙁
  24. It would be 10am East Coast wouldn't it?
  25. Could be the 1st of 3 consecutive games against Leeds if we end up facing them in the playoffs.
