  1. Well at least Cork never spat a dummy and refused to play (a decision that might have cost us our Europe place). I know who I would rather have next to me in a trench.
  2. I was talking to a current player recently who said Ramirez is the most skilful player at the club. Tadic v Ramirez? Give me the latter any day
  3. Maya can defend but he can't pass - either forward or backwards. And I wont even start on the great imposter Tadic - a waste of space if I ever saw one.
  4. This twice
  5. Then best you don't post ....but I do agree some players are getting written off too early. Thought Martina did OK actually but we played with 10 men today as Tadic (out of position did not help) was invisible.
  6. Most of our better football was played in the first half of last season - we went off the boil (with the odd exception) around the time Cork left. For the money we got for him losing him was Koeman's first mistake. Just because we offered him a contract doesn't mean it was an acceptable one. My understanding from talking to people close to him was that Swansea made him a better offer which shows we weren't really bothered about losing him.
  7. Yea but were you privy to the details in the contract? Perhaps it was a poor one and that is why he didn't sign it. In my opinion we haven't played well since he left - he is certainly a better player than Ward-Prowse or Steve Davis.
  8. It would help if we had players who could shoot from outside the area as clinically as the likes of Leicester players and West Ham forwards have done over the last few days! We operate a hit and hope policy when it comes to shooting!
  9. NA was brilliant for us, right man right time. But maybe he had taken us as far as he could although he was never given a proper chance to prove otherwise. His one fault was his awful post match interviews which were full of clichés and Americanisms. Decent man, decent manager who's record with us withstands the most stringent of scrutiny. Looking forward to the interview and well done the media dept for putting this together.
  10. I think after a couple of outstanding seasons we are going to have to get used to some drab performances this year and I think RK will be very happy with mid-table mediocrity. Some of his team selections this year have left me scratching my head and I think he has gone into his shell. I still haven't got over his bizarre team he picked in Denmark and allowing Wanyama back into the team ahead of Romeu who gave his all in Denmark and v Norwich does not send out the right vibes.
  11. this
  12. Eddie Howe
  13. One of my favourite players, that first season he was tremendous for us until Irwin crocked him and he was never quite the same but nevertheless as SOG says Strachan made a big mistake letting him go.
  14. There is no need to belittle his post though Alpine, at least his response is civil, the pair of you are just very different. Football and watching SFC is very emotive, last Thursday I hated Saints in the aftermath of our defeat and needed to let off steam, this forum is the ideal place.
  15. Bern, on this forum you seem to play the man rather than debate the issue. You and I learnt a long time ago that that leads to rows. Leave him be, you seem to treat this forum as target practice- my 83 year old dad loves Alpine's posts because they fit in with his pessimistic views on the Saints. Like I say he cares but just has a different way to you of expressing it.
  16. Think you are wrong about Alpine, he's not a wind up merchant just a pessimist get some people like SOG seem fixated with him. He is an alternative voice, let him be or just ignore him it's no big deal.
  17. You were not alone in thinking that, once Stekelenburg hoofed it clear and had Mane been lurking on the half way line there was a 50/50 chance of a goal. Koeman baffles me sometimes
  18. I agree with you, I think Targett's criticism to be unfair especially as he is not recognised as our number one choice and I rate him despite his slightly rocky last few games. As for J WP I agree his effort is beyond reproach but if he is going to be interviewed I just wish he kept the platitudes to a minimum. Saying we could qualify for Europe this season 24 hours after the shambles in Denmark just fans flames.
  19. I won't be churlish and admit he did well...... today, but of course one swallow does not make a summer. He has skill to spare which is why he is so frustrating when he fails to deliver. But I didn't like his card waving antics towards the ref, had a Norwich player done that we would all be incensed. He has a long way to go to get into my good books but this is a new start for him and let's hope last seasons inconsistencies are a thing of the past.
  20. Still gutted 60 hours later but don't worry we are going to do it all again next year http://m.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/13632746.Ward_Prowse_confident_Southampton_can_return_to_Europe/?ref=rss
  21. Don't think you are obliged to be interviewed at all but Ward-Prowse is at it all the time and perhaps he needs to put in some decent on field performances before opening his mouth, especially when his words are so hollow.
  22. Don't worry Pilchards, Ward-Prowse is targeting Europe again http://m.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/13632746.Ward_Prowse_confident_Southampton_can_return_to_Europe/?ref=rss
  23. Don't know about others who went to Holland and Denmark but I find Ward-Prowse's latest interview in the Echo a little patronising and hollow. Time he (and others) did their talking on the pitch..... in my opinion. http://m.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/13632746.Ward_Prowse_confident_Southampton_can_return_to_Europe/?ref=rss
