  1. This is a great idea and can only help to spread the club's name around the world. Good Luck Trev and I hope the club give you support and publicity.
  2. Got to be a sinister cover up probably involving the S Yorkshire police
  3. I spent the morning with L Mac, Mel Blyth, Jim McCalliog and Hughie Fisher today co hosting the Julian Clegg show on Solent and I think this anniversary is going to be mega and well worth attending. Tommy Doc and the ref, Clive Thomas are attending and Mike Osman has really pushed the boat out. Think it will be great if the show this morning was anything to go by, everyone was on great form and I reckon this will be the last time. Enjoy the night.
  4. Unlike you to "question" something?
  5. I think many on here have a soft spot for "karma"
  6. As his biggest critic I have been watching him closely the last few games and while I admit he is capable of playing that killer ball (better than any other player in our squad) he still frustrates the hell out of me with his over elaboration (especially inside the area). There is a good player deep within him but it is too inconsistently seen and I don't think he shows strong character. Koeman must agree to an extent because up until recently he rarely gave him the full 90 minutes.
  7. A balanced and entirely accurate view
  8. I wasn't at Highbury that day, I was listening to the world service on a radio in downtown Bombay but I was gutted and like you I thought the same today when I saw United's last minute winner. Karma
  9. He has got very mixed up re Frddie Starr's presence in 1976. It was actually the League Cup Final in 1979 when he wangled his way onto the team bus, I have the photos! Surprised at Lawrie's mistake as he mentions it In his 'Diary of a Season' book.
  10. Sorry to disappoint OB but tis not me, I get on with L Mac just fine and recently shared a pot of tea with him at the Potters Heron amid much talk of old times. The man in question is none other than Dave Juson, a friend of Rupert Lowe's. Dave wrote something about LM in the programme that LM took understandable umbrage at and the two have been at loggerheads ever since. I attempted mediation but both men have strong opinions as can be seen by Lawrie's book and Dave's response. Incidentally Dave is no longer part of Hagiology- a shame, because he is an excellent writer and a dedicated researcher.
  11. It won't be a surprise to many on here to find that I agree with you re Tadic. Very anonymous in the 2nd half and again in the first half tried to take an extra touch (as he always does) when a first time shot was required.
  12. Not technically true. The war time article which David Bull and I have been compiling is exclusive to the programme. It probably is not your cup of tea but each article has taken many hours of research.
  13. Yep but it wasn't quite that late
  14. Yea I was there. Lowe opened the meeting reading out a letter from an anonymous fan saying what a good job he was doing. I spoke first and said that he was a divisive figure and he should go and then Chorley did his throwing silver coins act. LM then spoke up as did his wife and the whole thing got out of hand, it was an interesting hour to say the least.
  15. Redknapp yes but Branfoot no. He was a crap manager agreed but a decent man out of his depth. Burley was a decent man but personal issues with the booze (you'll have to take my word for it) meant he lost the plot a bit and the players knew it. Recipe for disaster. Neither man was as duplicitous as Redknapp though.
  16. Le Tissier's inability to be accommodated in the England set up comes to mind. Ramirez was the most skilful player in our squad but these days managers demand much more.
  17. And looked good, I rest my case your honour. I think we have got to nurture our young players and calling them sh1te is pathetic
  18. Give the kid a break. He has been messed around by Koeman all season in terms of being in and out of the team and it must be hard to get rhythm - he was not even in the squad for the Liverpool game and yet gets a starting place in the very next game. At his age he needs to get a run under his belt and once he does I think you will find we have a little gem.
  19. Bit hard to nail down a place when you get dropped even after a good performance. ie Romeu v Liverpool
  20. He might have made more crosses than any other player but how many of them were accurate. Koeman is not the sort of manager to put his arm around a player. Some players need an arm around them sometimes. Does that make Koeman a bad manager? No. It makes him a different manager and his results on the pitch say he is doing something right but perhaps he still has a little to learn in some areas.
  21. Don't think this has much relevance, these days players have so much wealth the odd property is an irrelevance, and is looked at as an investment - especially in Winchester.
  22. A lot rests on what happens to RK this summer - if he doesn't sign the new contract that is being prepared for him then it could well be a more turbulent close season than the last two. Crucial couple of months coming up I reckon.
  23. Don't go Iain!
