I think I am right in saying that as Exeter's Matthew Oakley has just announced he is hanging up his boots, there is no one else currently turning out in professional British football who played at The Dell. Soon the number of Saints fans who never visited the Dell will be in the majority and yet MLT's winning goal only seems like yesterday to me.

I was mischievously playing the poster not the post. It is undoubtably a very credible achievement for a club our size and I watched Spurs goals go in with glea, but the tone of the post was a little bit overblown. It reminded me of those wartime newsreels that tried to boost morale.

He's only 21 and getting better all the time. I have watched him quite a bit live this season and he has improved two fold. His last match v Brentford he was leading the line with skill, determination and pace. He has all the qualities to replace Jay Rod imo and has a good temperament.

Writing off a 21 year old who virtually every Championship side is busting a gut to sign makes no sense. Not many 6' 4" strikers can fly down the wing like Sam and yet he is being written off because "he scored goals for a relegated side"! Wow!

One season

If I was a betting man I would wager Virgil will outstay Claude in terms of departing SMS.

By then he will have less than a year left on his contract and could run it down.

Was at Brentford yesterday and thought Sam had an excellent game, a view endorsed by Sky commentators and the Guardian. A shame there appears to have been anyone from Saints there monitoring as they would have seen a performance of strong running, aerial domination and superb link up play. I may be biased but there is a danger the club may be about to let a real prospect slip from their grasp.

And don't forget another reason to back Sam now is his goals for Rovers could send Brum and more importantly Harry down.
