  1. The frightening thing is I hear that "Lifelong" is still very "active" and is almost certainly wrapped up in at least one of the consortiums. This sort of thing is why I remain anxious that Fry makes the "right" decision.
  2. Apologies for starting a new thread on this but with the number of potential consortiums now said to be in the region of 35 I am concerned at how Mr Fry is going to be able to make the right choice (By right I mean in the best interests of the football club). As far as I am aware his duty is to get the best return for the creditors. The more interest there is the more he can drive the price up. If at the end of the day he has a choice between Consortium A who are offering to cough up £12m to settle all debts and Consortium B who are prepared to go to £18m surely he would have to go for option B? But what if Consortium A are a well-respected group of local successful business men who are genuinely committed to the future of SFC while the B bunch are just a group of wealthy speculators who would not invest in the team while looking to sell on for a quick profit? I assume most on this forum would want Consortium A but I am sure at the end of the day Fry would have to go for option B. Consortium A may then be forced to come back and up their bid but the extra money they submit would then not be available to invest in the team building we will certainly need once the dust from this season has settled. I know the identity of one consortium out there and think they to probably be just "what the doctor ordered" for our club but I am concerned they will be "outbid" by much less scrupulous operators better equiped to meet Fry's and the creditors "rising by the minute" expectations! I hope I am wrong.
  3. Your last sentence sets a worrying tone. The more consortiums there are the more the price for the club rises leaving less money for the football side of things after any transaction. The administrator is just chasing cash for the creditors - is he worried where that cash comes from?
  4. Yea but their job is to get as much money for the creditors not choose who may be the best for the football club. The more consortiums there are the more we should be concerned.
  5. I think the fewer consortiums the better. More will only drive the price up leaving lest for investment in the team. Incidentally Rupert was telling people a few days ago he reckoned the club could be bought by someone who had £15m.
  6. This night serves zero purposes? Umm according to the Echo they are hoping to raise £10,000. That will at least help to pay all the long-suffering backroom staff at SMS who must be worried sick about their jobs! If you think that is worthy of derision then I feel for you.
  7. Quite correct and tbh it is a concern
  8. A guess Phil "it wasn't my fault" I could be wrong but I doubt it.
  9. Rupert Murdoch - for changing football into a sport where people can make money.
  10. Yes, like you Steve I agree to a point. But like you say there is not much morality left in English football and to succeed (if that's what we all want) then you have got to exploit whatever you can. Football is not played on a level playing field anymore!!!!
  11. I have to say if Guy Askham was in the Director's box this afternoon I will be very disheartened with the person who issued the invite.
  12. I think they are well aware of the levels of support. Right it's nos 1 bus time for me. Enjoy the game.
  13. My concern here is that the tyre kickers or oportunists will ruin it for the genuine "in it for the right reasons" consortium. There is no doubt that if Barclays and Aviva can be persuaded to do a deal (as seems likely) then the acquisition of the football club is a pretty sound and reasonably cheap option. Cheap options attracts vultures. Let's hope Mr Fry knows his stuff.
  14. Bloody hell mate - this sort of post isn't helpful. Whatever you think of people who start things like this at least give them a chance. All we want is to save our club - we either pull together and forget our differences etc or we go down the Swanee. If you still have a problem can I respectfully ask you keep off this thread. There are people out there bursting a gut to keep SFC alive - let's not destroy the momentum or the good will factor - at the moment it is all we have. Rgds D
  15. Very impressed with this initiative having just come off the phone to "Derry". I think it vital to have some sort of pledged amount in case a consortium's efforts fell at the final hurdle and we only then had days before folding with no plan B in situ. One word "Derry" used which made sense was "backup" finances. I am sure there are genuine consortiums out there - perhaps one that would also embrace a fan group such as this one and/or Mark's Save our Saints group. I am happy to pledge funds myself and am prepared to do whatever I can to help get this off the ground. The response on this thread has been quite uplifting. It is easy to be negative but now is the time to be positive. Cheers! Duncan
  16. Thanks Steve, I gather Mikey took a long time being "persuaded" to tender his resignation!!!
  17. Have faith!
  18. I think your curious post to be crass in the extreme and insulting to Saints fans - you are insinuating that it is only politics that drives supporters of the club. Whilst the majority presumably see the removal of Lowe as a good thing I don't think the real fan is rejoicing tonight. It is a dark day and yet you seem determined to wring further political mileage by re-igniting a debate that has been done to death, just to get your name in lights. I don't like Lowe but I have no pleasure dancing on his grave and threads like this are just tasteless. If he goes tomorrow it will be good but let's not use his departure to open wounds that do not need reopening.
  19. Classic
  20. I don't know for sure but I don't think we have seen the last of LC is as far as I will go! He is not the sort of man to go quietly. Is that a good thing? Perhaps but total unity will only come with a complete sweep. Leon did little wrong compared to MW and RL but there were elements of his tenure that didn't sit comfortably with me.
  21. Definately an announcement at 10am. No excuse now - should be a full house on Saturday!
  22. I know, my remark was more aimed at Rory.
  23. go ask Fred Dineage!
