  1. Quite correct and tbh it is a concern
  2. A guess Phil "it wasn't my fault" I could be wrong but I doubt it.
  3. Rupert Murdoch - for changing football into a sport where people can make money.
  4. Yes, like you Steve I agree to a point. But like you say there is not much morality left in English football and to succeed (if that's what we all want) then you have got to exploit whatever you can. Football is not played on a level playing field anymore!!!!
  5. I have to say if Guy Askham was in the Director's box this afternoon I will be very disheartened with the person who issued the invite.
  6. I think they are well aware of the levels of support. Right it's nos 1 bus time for me. Enjoy the game.
  7. My concern here is that the tyre kickers or oportunists will ruin it for the genuine "in it for the right reasons" consortium. There is no doubt that if Barclays and Aviva can be persuaded to do a deal (as seems likely) then the acquisition of the football club is a pretty sound and reasonably cheap option. Cheap options attracts vultures. Let's hope Mr Fry knows his stuff.
  8. Bloody hell mate - this sort of post isn't helpful. Whatever you think of people who start things like this at least give them a chance. All we want is to save our club - we either pull together and forget our differences etc or we go down the Swanee. If you still have a problem can I respectfully ask you keep off this thread. There are people out there bursting a gut to keep SFC alive - let's not destroy the momentum or the good will factor - at the moment it is all we have. Rgds D
  9. Very impressed with this initiative having just come off the phone to "Derry". I think it vital to have some sort of pledged amount in case a consortium's efforts fell at the final hurdle and we only then had days before folding with no plan B in situ. One word "Derry" used which made sense was "backup" finances. I am sure there are genuine consortiums out there - perhaps one that would also embrace a fan group such as this one and/or Mark's Save our Saints group. I am happy to pledge funds myself and am prepared to do whatever I can to help get this off the ground. The response on this thread has been quite uplifting. It is easy to be negative but now is the time to be positive. Cheers! Duncan
  10. Thanks Steve, I gather Mikey took a long time being "persuaded" to tender his resignation!!!
  11. Have faith!
  12. I think your curious post to be crass in the extreme and insulting to Saints fans - you are insinuating that it is only politics that drives supporters of the club. Whilst the majority presumably see the removal of Lowe as a good thing I don't think the real fan is rejoicing tonight. It is a dark day and yet you seem determined to wring further political mileage by re-igniting a debate that has been done to death, just to get your name in lights. I don't like Lowe but I have no pleasure dancing on his grave and threads like this are just tasteless. If he goes tomorrow it will be good but let's not use his departure to open wounds that do not need reopening.
  13. Classic
  14. I don't know for sure but I don't think we have seen the last of LC is as far as I will go! He is not the sort of man to go quietly. Is that a good thing? Perhaps but total unity will only come with a complete sweep. Leon did little wrong compared to MW and RL but there were elements of his tenure that didn't sit comfortably with me.
  15. Definately an announcement at 10am. No excuse now - should be a full house on Saturday!
  16. I know, my remark was more aimed at Rory.
  17. go ask Fred Dineage!
  18. Trousers, I don't know this. Lowe could well have plans of his own or the administrator may block others it if he thinks it is not in the right interest of the people to whom the club owe money. I do not know anything and I am 100% surmising here but as you know I am incredibly suspicious of Lowe's motives and he will be anxious to rescue something out of this which, as things look, must be fairly embarrassing for him not to mention costly..
  19. I accept that excuse. However I still think your sarcasm inappropriate but perhaps you and Fos1 need to have a private chat.
  20. Steve as you know Fos 1 why did you not go down the pm route with your sarcasm? He might irritate you and maybe you don't approve of his relationship with LC but I did feel last night your response incredibly negative especially as you were not prepared to inform your fellow forum readers yourself.
  21. Thanks Ron - like you said I had already heard from a couple of sources (inc Fos1) that something was afoot. I spoke to Fos1 and we agreed it better to say nothing because the sources were a little vague. It was only when you rang I felt confident enough to post. As you know if what you post does "come off" you are liable for a "kicking" on here and indeed "Rory" and "Hypo" were initially doing their bootlaces up last night. It is a fine line and one I note Steve Grant was not prepared to take last night despite his claim that he was in possesion of the same facts as us.... and it's his forum!!!!
  22. Please don't tell me you were also with St David and Life long?
  23. Nick I wouldn't not reveal something because of Steve but I do think that having poured scorn on what I and Fos 1 were saying last night he could have at least held his hands up today and acknowledged he was wrong. Like everyone else I am uncertain about what will happen next. (I am no longer in contact with LC because of something I said on this forum - although I gather he was at SMS this morning - so any info does not come from him). However, I believe there are some good people out there who care for the club and they probably realise now is the time "to put their heads above the parapet". Whether or not they can deliver, or will be "allowed" to deliver is the million dollar question. We have had so many false dawns I am reluctant to raise hopes but reassurance can be felt that there are at least people trying. I am sure now the cat is out of the bag things will move swiftly.
