Messengers always get shot Spencer. Occupational hazard. I sympathise and know you were only passing things on because you were an excited fan who wanted to share info. I think you and I got caught up in the Pinnacle debacle and it to be in our best inrerests that the whole story be told. There were quite a few like Dubai Phil who had early doubts and in hindsight they were right. A lot of people have been let down by Lynam inc you and Matt.

I've passed what I had on to the Echo. I asked them to hold on to it until the club's future was secure. As far as i am concerned they can release it all now. Last time I tried (on here) I was threatened with the police. Not afraid to do it again but think it the duty of the local paper now.

Tony Lynam had a Saints email given to him. Why?

Don't imagine for one second TL paid any of that 500 thou! -
Because we got out of our debts cheaply is the reason why the FL set a 10 point punishment.

Hate to say this but "we" will never owe anything nor will the club every "owe" us anything. Our club is now privately owned for the first time in our 124 year old history. There is no debt, no morgage and we have no rights. The new owner can do whatever he likes. Not saying this is a bad thing but we are going to have to get used to the fact that SFC is not answerable to the fans at all. However it would be a silly man for him to want to alienate the fans. It is going to take a long time to get used to being in private hands. Even going back before the first World War there were demonstrations by the fans against the directors at the way the club was run, and they had to listen, but not anymore.
-
It might be history to you, Nick but Pinnacle's actions brought SFC to the brink, meant that 2-3 players had to be sold to pay the wages and 5 weeks were wasted when the club could be rebuilding under genuine new owners. Plus of course there is that little matter of £500,00+. Who ever put that upfront may well have done it on false promises and I daresay they are feeling a little sore right now. While I agree about a clean break from the past there are some things that should not be swept under the carpet. Looking forward to the new Swiss dawn as much as anyone but will watch forthcoming appointments closely - already I have heard the name of someone, most on here, would find unpalatable - just let's hope it's not true.
-
There is a big difference between offering and delivering. The Pinnacle debacle needs to be investigated and I know it will be once the Swiss takeover is completed. It appears there were serious misrepresentations going on that could in some quarters be regarded close to being fraudulent. IMO Pinnacle were never serious, they had no funds once the early principles melted away early on and they then wasted 4 weeks of the club's time in a critical period. It will be in Fry's interest to spill the beans simply to protect his reputation. In the meantime let's hope this actual deal does come to a swift conclusion - you are never certain until the funds are in the bank.
-
Phil - I understand why you said what you said now but I was not then in contact with the person you referred to. However I am now and I think the penny has dropped. Like I say lets wait until we are safe, but I think there will be repercussions. No harm done as far as I am concerned.
-
I think the real truth with Pinnacle (names and all) needs and will be told (and I am getting there) but Saints need to be taken over first.
-
Edelweiss anyone?
-
"willing to pay" or saying they were "willing to pay"? Subtle difference and one neither Matt or Leon checked up on.
-
I agree with you and Ottery - there are still far too many unanswered questions and inconsistencies regarding Pinnacle. Those 5 weeks wasted time could not be afforded and someone should take responsibility whether it be Fry or whoever. And I hope the next group that attempt to get MLT and LC onboard, that the pair of them do proper due diligence.
-
100% agree with this - sober reading but very wise.
-
I think the only person left who does take Lynam seriously is Matt - hence my concern.
-
So Matt should be completely absolved for allowing his name to be used to prop up a bunch of chancers? If he had done just a small piece of diligence 5 weeks of very precious time would not have been wasted, many fans hopes dashed and by now we might have proper new owners instead of the current mess. This was serious stuff Phil and Matt's endorsement, well-intentioned as it no doubt was, has caused untold grief to the fans, dreadful worry to the employees and left us on our knees. The man will always be a footballing legend but I am afraid he stuffed up big time and he could help the cause by giving us some plain answers on "these other issues" that supposedly wrecked the deal. And I have to tell you the nightmare is not yet over because Lynam sent me a text Tuesday evening saying Pinnacle might yet return, so it would be good for Matt to finally renounce them.
-
Of course he was weii-intentioned. Of course he was trying to do good but until he answers a few questions I reserve the right to be critical 1. Did he ever meet or even talk to Pinnacle's alleged backers? 2. Did he do any diligence on them before lending his name to their consortium? 3. What are the "other issues" he says the FL introduced (which they deny). IMO Pinnacle never had any backers (if they did they departed long before exclusivity) and 5 precious weeks have been lost because of their "skulduggery". Matt's presence was the one reason we all gave them the benefit of doubt but he now has to answer some questions. Surely that is not too much to ask. Incidentally I got a text from Lynam 36 hours ago insisting Pinnacle could still return to the table - this is the man Matt stil has faith in? Ye Gods!
-
I give up. If he ****ged your wife/boyfriend I presume you would still think that OK? No wonder we are where we are.
-
This message has blown me away in its stupidity - have another look at what you wrote (see below) "a reason why fans should never know too much about there (sic) club" Have a real think Jimmy, how much blind loyalty do you want to give, when will you say enough?
-
My greatest memory is MLT's last goal at the Dell v Arsenal but unfortunately that memory lost a bit of its sparkle on Saturday morning just gone.

Football League: "There were no other issues"
Fitzhugh Fella replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
But that means MLT sucks because he is still backing (Pinnacle's) TL's actions. You can't cherry pick here. Matt needs to shoulder some blame here. He was told over the wekend that Pinnacle were chancers and he chose to carry on oblivious. -
Sorry mate you are wrong. If you allow your name to be used to promote something you should at least check out the product being promoted. Matt's (well-intentioned) actions gave Pinnacle status they never deserved and as a consequence the club is in crisis. If I was Matt I would be feeling very queasy.
-
Matt needs to share some blame - he had a duty to check out the people he was prepared to allow his name to be tied to. Sorry. Matt's patronage enabled Pinnacle to prolong the charade.
-
I got another text from Lynam saying Pinnacle may yet by the club yesterday (Monday) evening about 6. I think he needs to see someone.
-
No offence but I think it a good time to relinquish any hope Pinnacle will return. Just spotted Tony and Fulthorpe on Paul Allen's yacht sailing out of the Solent. At the helm Tommac. Michael Wilde is serving the drinks.
-
There are a lot of lunatics on the fringe of football attracted by the surplus of cash. Here we go Marc Jackson, Jonathan Fulthorpe, Tommac, Tony Lynam - I could go on. Look at the publicity Wacko Jacko has generated - his photo all over the local media and tv etc. He is now a legend in his own mind and I daresay very satisfied with his involvement as is Tony "we will complete" Lynam. Just a shame that someone as great as MLT has been swept into the cesspit and is now digging himself a bigger hole by misplaced allegiance to Lynam.
