  1. Well, I think that is the crux of the matter - how and why and what criteria was used, because at the end of the day Fry gave exclusivity to a bunch of people who simply, at the time, had no funds - their money man had long slinked off into the night, but the facede was maintained.
  2. Before any bid is accepted though John surely the auctioneer should have proof of funds?
  3. Can I refer you to post 28 in this thread hypo when I said this of AO and the new regime "Actually I was very impressed with his enthusiasm for the future and he was very clued up as to the 125th anniversary next year. He was a lot more relaxed/positive than when he was here last year and he seems to be genuinely keen to be part of our success story. It was good to be able to start to trust the people now running our club tbh." So, I don't think you will find me saying one negative thing about the new ownership - for the record I think a single wealthy owner was our only solution and our salvation. What I have pointed out on many occasions when some on here have said "are the club still in debt" is that it is not like it was in the old days when books had to be balanced and boards of directors took decisions with minutes kept. That does not mean it is a bad thing and indeed, I do not think it is a bad thing - its just people like you and Once Bitterne are presuming or putting words in my mouth and that I resent. Surely OB can't have even bothered to have read the whole thread, which at least you have. OB also accuses me of veiling my criticism - I think you have known me on here long enough Hypo to recognise I am not one to normally "veil" my criticism - far from it. I hope the above makes my views very clear.
  4. Sorry you are 100% wrong - I am 100% in full support. Seems I can't say anything without it being totally misconstrued. Just because I have quite correctly pointed out the club is 100% his is just a fact. I would really appreciate a retraction here because your post is totally wrong.
  5. that someone was Leon Crouch who was the only authentic part of Pinnacle. Pinnacle were just a bunch of chancers and to be honest Fry was duped (probably by Crouch's money and MLT's standing). If Fry, LC or MLT had done just a small amount of due diligence then Pinnacle's interest would have been stillborn. No wonder ML and Co are peeved - they have every right to be angry. I shudder to think where we would be now had they walked. Fry is a lucky man imo.
  6. I see no reason why it shouldn't happen. P+mpey will never get a new ground now (or even new training facilities) and if the council support things it could become a reality.
  7. I spoke to Andy Oldknow on Friday and he said no one was more surprised than himself to be back at St Marys so I think his input into ML's purchase of us to be minimal at best. Actually I was very impressed with his enthusiasm for the future and he was very clued up as to the 125th anniversary next year. He was a lot more relaxed/positive than when he was here last year and he seems to be genuinely keen to be part of our success story. It was good to be able to start to trust the people now running our club tbh.
  8. I still don't think anything like the whole story has emerged re the Pinnacle fiasco yet. One day it won't matter but it is irksome while we still struggle to properly organise ourselves. At the end of the day it could cost us a play off place. Spent the day with 2 Reading fans and one WHU fan and they all slagged AP for his arrogance. I suggested that perhaps he had seen the error of his ways and learnt a few things but they would not have it. Fans rarely have a good word for ex managers I suppose. Mind you after Reading's start and the way they were muttering about their new manager already perhaps they were jealous they could have got Pardew back before we came in for him. It sounds like the guy can communicate, he certainly talks intelligently and in this day and age that is half the battle.
  9. I would still love to know how/why Cortese became interested.
  10. Thanks S Clarke - should have checked the OS but they don't usually have pics up. Good to see him there.
  11. I noted that Marcus Liebherr is in the squad picture in tonight's Echo. No problem with that at all - in fact I welcome it as it shows he is keen to be associated with us publicly but I was wondering if he goes to all the home games and has he been spotted at any away games? Perhaps Morph or anyone else near the director's box could enlighten me? Was he there for our first win? As Gobern is not in the squad photo I assume that the picture must have been taken recently which means ML has been here at least once in the last fortnight. The keener he gets the better we will be for it I reckon. Also does anyone know anything about Jack Saville who is in the back row? I missed any previous mention of him. Thanks
  12. Terribly sorry you find my posts irritating Hypo - suggest you put me on ignore. Seem to remember when you used to plague me with pms asking for inside info and then when I told you you were the first to blurt them out (Michael Wilde's indentity on here comes to mind). I found that "irritating" tbh, but made no comment at the time. Like I said put me on ignore and then you will no longer be irritated. See you.
  13. A very very valid point. The mural is very well done - tis a shame that is is largly hidden in the walkway - it would look great ona giant poster outside the ground.
  14. No one was more pleased than I that we signed Waigo - for he is on paper just the sort of player we need but I am worried we are expecting too much from him too soon which is the point I have (probably badly) being trying to make. I wish his introduction could be a little more low key but the fans have - despite what Hypo says - created a bit of a fuss which will only make it harder for the lad. Just living in a country where you don't speak the lingo is hard enough (look how English players returned prematurely from Italy) without being expected to be your new employer's star performer. There was one instance when he chose to go for goal when Lambert was far better placed which is a good example of him trying too hard to meet expectations. The original thread is silly I agree (especially as he was not here) because you cannot make judgements on 20 minutes of play, although obviously you start to form impressions. I don't know about the legitimacy of the offsides because I was nowhere in line but it was frustrating to be caught so many times. However I accept most linos get it more wrong than right even if it is a hard rule to get right in the first place. I really hope the lad makes it and he becomes a permanent signing - one thing we are short of at present is "flair" players and there no better sight in football than a winger in full flow but would again urge restraint with our expectations. If tha tis bullsh+t then so be it!
  15. Did anyone else notice the wall painting on the walkway over the railway line to the stadium which has a really fantastic mural depicting Charlie Miller the ex Saints player from the 1890s who is credited to introducing football into Brazil. It really is a work of art and looks fantastic. I don't know who is responsible but it is worth a look if anyone is down that way - the likeness of Miller is uncanny and someone has gone to a lot of trouble.
  16. or even a MJ reject
  17. There was quite a roar when he came on
  18. 4 middle aged Yeovil fans, minding their own business, were having a drink when they were attacked by a bunch of Saints fans who weren't kids themselves. It was all a bit spasmodic - the Yeovil fans climbed over the railings to get away but one got caught and was getting a kicking. Two coppers were in the vicinity but they froze and were very pathetically slow or even reluctant to intervene. All very sad imo.
  19. I'm just very worried the fans seem to regard him as the second coming. He looked very very raw and a player who gets caught offside 5 or 6 times in 15 minutes is not really "thinking" about the game. I wish him well - we need his pace and unpredictability but let's not build him up too much, just yet. Not speaking the language etc will mean he has a lot on his plate at present and expectations should be kept to sensible proportions. It is good AP is introducing him slowly. We have signed too many wonderkids over the last few years who I got really excited about - Delgado and Ekelund - to name but two and to enthuse too much after nothing more than a cameo performance can be counter productive. Hence my negativity.
  20. I think they won't. The first was plain embarrasing.
  21. They bought 1200 - not bad but they were very quiet and all of them sat throughout. It was a great shame that after the match some of our mindless fans attacked 4 middle aged Yeovil fans who were enjoying a quiet pint in the Alfred. Very sad and rather pathetic. It all happened under the gaze of a couple of coppers who looked too frightened to intervene.
  22. He took it around the keeper about 5 seconds after the ref had blown for offside. There is a danger the fans are bigging him up too much. Looked raw to me and needs to understand the offside law.
  23. Hate to put a dampener on things but I thought we were very poor today. Passes galore went astray, players got in each others way and it was a far from coherent performance. We only won because of 2 very dubious pens, end off. Obviously it is good to get 3 points and I am sure we will play a lot better and lose but don't get carried away by this win, because on another day Yeovil - as poor as they were - would have got a point and we would all be pulling our hair out. Thought Morgan was dire. He is starting to remind me of Oakley. You either liked him or hated him but I can never remember him actually doing anything.
