" 10 games before we start slaughtering teams"? "it will work out alright in the end if we all just get behind the team and believe"? OMG you are now officially the leader of the happy clappies.
-
Oh and by the way - I have resisted on calling you a name. Perhaps it would be best if you withdrew the spaceman to Alpine remark. After all, does it move your argument forward?
-
But Will - I know you love the Saints but you got to accept while you can see they do no wrong others choose to differ. Blind faith support for Saints is great, but this is a forum and the vews on here will not make or break anything. Just because Alpine happens to voice views that makes you twitch in your underpants because they don't fit in to your perceived "must support Saints at any cost" views is not a reason for you to throw insults. We all want what is best for Saints but we all have different ways of expressing it. Some are cynical or negative (Alpine) some are happy clappy (you and NickG) but neither has the right to dictate to the other how they chose to "support" or "comment" on the team. To say as you did "if you can't handle your team losing go and support Chelsea etc" is a patronising, I'm a better supporter because I praise and not criticise vewpoint that is - if you don't mind me saying - out of place.
-
Sometimes I think people slag Alpine simply because they don't like his message. Yes he is negative but that does not make him right or wrong, just as you chose to be positive which neither makes you right or wrong. Negative people get irked by happy clappy posts and vice versa, The very least we can do is just debate our corner without trying to A) convert (never gonna happen), B) preach (boring) or C) insult (everyone is entitled to have their say without being vilified). Alpine has irritated me in the past but the guy is consistent, has been on here for years, makes the effort to attend matches even though he lives abroad and obviously cares. Argue with him by all means but cut out the insults would be my advice. He is prepared to defend his corner with reason.

I am in complete agreement. The players should now do their talking on the pitch and leave the battlecries for another day. They are becoming counter-productive. The OS should give these meaningless interviews a miss and the Echo go and do some research and write something original or even factual for a change.

Saints Forum on Solent - Tonight
Fitzhugh Fella replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
Appreciate your sentiments Gemmel, but when we bought Lambert from Rovers 9 games ago I wasn't expecting to still be on minus points come October and seeing them 20 odd places above us. Form is poor (even the one win v Yeovil was instantly forgettable apart from 2 dubious pens) and just off the top of my head there is no cohesion, pace, width or mental toughness. Some evidence of progress in these 4 areas would go some way to allieviate the growing frustration. Too early to consider AP's removal but if I was NC I would be keeping my eye on the movements of Steve Coppell now his self-imposed 6 month sabbatical is nearing its end. He was originally his first choice and Cortese could be forgiven for pangs of "what might have been". We can not live on the Rupert is gone/we have no debt feelgood factor for too much longer. -
They were just a little quick to announce his arrival and now they have yet more egg on their faces. Like I said at the beginning before this thread got moved - Oh happy day!
-
An excellent and balanced post - thanks. Reading that link does worry me a tad about Pardew however. I hope he has learnt from past mistakes. I think he has some very good points but I also think he had (emphasis on had) some bad ones too!
-
Although I am at present a little underwhelmed at our performances this season I do think AP pushes all the right buttons as far as his communication goes. His piece in the Echo this week after the poor Reserves' performance was interesting and pulled no punches. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1807314,00.html So he talks the talk but the question is can he walk the walk? The next 2 home matches will go some way to answering the above.

Thought Everton were poor today and P*mpey better than expected. Tbh they played quite well and were unlucky. Think Hart is doing a good job under the circumstances - let's hope the good doctor sacks him.

surely no one can believe a word he says. Give me MJ any day of the week. If the Pompey fans fall for his latest pack of lies they deserve everything they get.

So, why DID Mark Fry prefer Pinnacle over Liebherr?

Reading your factual account of the reasons we never built at Stoneham set me wondering what it would have been like if we had. Not many pubs nearby i know that much. -

How can it be old news when only this week we heard NC's opinion on the whole affair - hence Trousers starting up this thread. No one is asking you to read it. The fact that Lynam is till posting on here makes it relevant too. -

Understand where you are coming from IC but you have to realise TL is a glib shamen. Formatted Q and As are what he wants - he wallows in contradictions, the more smoke the better - because, in the cold light of day, his side of the story reeks. I am also afraid to say the more TL spouts garbage the more he drags the once good name of Le Tissier into the cess pit. Perhaps if Lynam has any decency he would retire gracefully, let Marcus Lebherr and Co get on with the real job, and leave MLT alone to rebuild what unfortunately has become a bit of a tatty legacy thanks to becoming involved in the farce now known as Pinnacle. -

There are more holes in this posting than there are in Portsmouth's defence. TL has changed his story so many times - you only have to look at what he said following Fialka's unveiling, the link being posted today. I also think the present owners will have a long hard look at this and may well want to challenge some of it. 2 days before you and Matt eventually called time on the deal, both of you were threatening me on the telephone for daring to question on this forum your authenticity and yet you still have the nerve to come on here and spout "I'm really a good guy" crap. Either tell us the truth or go forth forever. -
Something I always wondered about The Dell
Fitzhugh Fella replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
That sounds roughly right - when they went bust they did so owing the publishers of our first book quite a bit of money. To be fair to Askham he coughed up half the debt because a Saints employee had ordered the books, but we were all left out of pocket. -
Jesus Christ - it was a pm, I wasn't that bothered about 1 person discovering who told me. The reason I revealed as much as I did was to try and convince OB the reliability of my source. If I said Joe Bloggs told me the story would not have held much water.
-
Apologies OB - I had completely forgotten that story. I still stand by it because of the source - I was merely telling you privately what I was told by a good authority. Still don't remember the faling asleep story though. When I next see my source I will ask him if he will go public - as i say he is still a well respected figure in medical circles.
-
Hi Swannymere - I was not sticking up for SISA just cheap point scoring on OB after his post of yesterday. For the record I now regard SISA as a busted flush and the Echo should avoid them as fans representatives 100%. They represent no one but themselves and the sooner the Echo appreciate that the better. At present I don't think anyone is qualified or entitled to talk on behalf of the fans. Do we need someone? At present probably not. I think the next year should be left to NC and AO to run and rebuld the club as they see fit reporting to ML. Any fan who feels strongly can always write in. SISA came about because it appears the Board - at that time - would not listen to fan opinion. They served their purpose, the time for politics in SFC is no more.
-
I do think you are getting me mixed up or jumbled into one. Haven't a clue what you are talking about re the hair or Burley being asleep in his car. Not my stories sorry. The Burley hammering on the door story is verifiable and has been confirmed by others on here inc Lets B Avenue just recently. The pub was the Avenue in Padwell Rd and the landlord's - since left - name was Tony. He still frequents so I suggest you pop a long and check it out for yourself. I don't know about Mumford or Godwin attention seeking. I regard both as being Saints fans of integrity indeed the work Tim has recently been doing for Ron Davies is way above attention seeking status. And once again for the record - I don't think Saints could have found a better owner anywhere else on this planet than ML. Phew.

Shock, horror, OB hits back with snide, hide behind his anonymity wind up post!

In today's Guardian (Wed 23rd Sept) "A PL spokesman confirmed last night that the league is still awaiting for confirmation that Fahim's Portsmouth deal has been concluded and has not yet received evidence about where his money is coming from". I suggest the PL pull their finger out and then pull the plug on Fahim. Actually on 2nd thoughts perhaps not - leave him where he is, he can only push them further into the mire!
-
Hope it is finished soon so the protective layer can be put on. Fair play to you - it looks great, hope the club take note.
