So we have a chief executive being charged with tax evasion A delusional penniless Chairman who according to the press this morning was not aware the manager was being sacked and disagrees with the decision. A mystery owner who has never visited the club and who has never even spoken to the manager on the phone. A major shareholder who's father is wanted for gun running. A decent manager who was doing as best as could be hoped, dismissed with no one else lined up. A DoF who was unaware the manager was being sacked, who is in Germany and appears not be able to get a work permit. A transfer embargo on signing players. A ramshackle ground and the embarrassment of pulling out of hosting the 2018 games. No wonder the Guardian this morning has described recent events at Fratton as "resembling a lost episode of Faulty Towers".

Hypo, I am really glad you are enjoying your football - seriously I am. In fact, so am I. I'm off to Northampton on Saturday and looking forward to it. The trouble I have with NickG is that he seems almost evangelic in his efforts to convince us we are world beaters, albeit in the 3rd tier. All I am trying to point out is that despite this so called great run of ours over the last 11 games we are still only 3 points off bottom place. With all Nick's stats that is almost unbelievable and a contradiction to your statement that we are "currently on a very good run of form" and "seeing a load of wins". Stats are meaningless (how about 5 points from the last 12?) - every manager will tell you its the position in the table they go by! Yes we nearly went out of existance, yes we got saved but how long should we be doffing the cap of gratefulness? Sorry Hypo (no offence) I was brought up in an era of top-flight football and beating Hartlepool away 3-1 might be a good night's work on the evening, will not have me clamouring for a seat on the end-of-season open top bus, Nick has lined up.
-
Nick it is you who are obsessed - look at the time of your OP, you were obviously primed and ready to go with your crafted spin at the final whistle. You paint a one-sided picture with your carefully selected stats (a politician's trick if ever there was one) and before you know it there is talk of play offs etc when the reality is we are still only 3 points (last night's win if you like) from bottom place and would only be 11th if we got our 10 points back. We are building slowly but like I said there are big flaws in our team in all areas which suggests realistic expectations this season, despite your fluffy stats, should be no more than mid-table at best. Just my thoughts Nick - I am sorry if you have a problem with me disputing your "everything is rosy" opinion? I thought that's what people do on forums?
-
That makes sense. Play off talk is far-fetched and not a little arrogant at present. Great to win but let's get out of the bottom 4 first and keep our feet firmly on the ground. There are still big flaws in that team and yet Nick seems on a one man mission to convince us all that Saints can do no wrong. There is a difference to being positive and gung-ho. And Hypo, no offence but you remind me of Black Adder's mate in the trenches, was he called George?

Pompey sack manager - is there a place for this
Fitzhugh Fella replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
You're up late - are you celebrating the double? Saints winning and the possibility that GB could, just could be Poopey's next manager? I shan't sleep with that enchanting prospect dangling over the night ahead. -
on the main forum? I notice the one started earlier (re Hart's removal) was quickly moved, but I would like to see one thread stay on the main board as I think, as they are our main rivals (and always have been), most genuine Saints fans have always shown an interest in what's going on down the road and would like the opportunity to express their views to a wider audience. And let's be honest what is happening down the road is simply too delicious to bannish to a lounge etc surely? Am I in a minority here? It seems to me the mods on here can't wait to move the odd Poopey thread that perhaps actually should stay on the main board. Have they no soul? Do they not realise how intrinsic Poopey's fortunes are to our own. Do any of them live in So'ton, do any of them really "get" the feeling of how good it is when the skates suffer? Mods are you secret Poopey fans? I jest! The Pompey takeover thread which Ponty and his mates (again tongue in cheek) did their best to sabotage, change, censure whatever, is still going strong on the lounge which proves that the debacle at Pompey is probably a little more interesting than the latest song about Lambert (as good as it is). So can we not have one thread on the main forum about Pompey's slow but inevitable demise, because there is nothing better than discussing the death of our nearest and oldest rivals? Perhaps the Pompey takeover thread should be re-instated or will that be too much of a climbdown. Rallyboy, for instance, is writing some cracking posts which need to reach a wider audience? Check it out on the Lounge - its a classic. So what a stormy night - Poopey sacking a manager who was doing - imo - a damn good job and us beating mighty Hartlepool and moving up to 21st. Funny old game football. Please God deliver George Burley into Fratton by morning.
-
Yeah but you were born with your head in the sand Hypo. Yes it looks good but drop the line a bit and it doesn't look so good. Its called spin, man wake up to it.
-
Nick you should get a job with the Labour Party - they are in need of a "feel good" spin doctor now Campbell has gone. How long did you have this post prepared? Are you related to AP? Beware, as ever, raising expectations, your arse will get bitten!
-
Dear Santa - I will leave out an extra glass of sherry if you deliver Gorgeous George Burley into Fratton.

Burley Sacked as Scotland Manager
Fitzhugh Fella replied to the saint in winchester's topic in The Saints
If he took the job and made them successful I would buy you a season ticket. Lots of names bounded about on Sky - Dowie for one! I really do think they have made a massive mistake. I have seen Poopey play on tv quite a few times this season and much as it grieves me to admit it, they were actually playing well. If I was a Chairman of a struggling CCC side tonight I'd be checking out Hart's contact details (and let's not forget he saved them last season after Adams poor time in charge). Back to Burley - I await his next appointment with interest. Peterborough anyone? -

Grants not got his licence - Burley must be in with a shout and he's cheap enough. -
South World Cup bid 2018 Portsmouth City turn it down.

Come on down Marcus Liebherr and Southampton City Council although I have more faith in the former than the latter. -
Rather see Wotton in midfield than James.

Burley Sacked as Scotland Manager
Fitzhugh Fella replied to the saint in winchester's topic in The Saints
Bern, If Burley gets the Fratton job you can pop down to see just how good he is! Sorry couldn't resist it. Getting rid of Hart is madness for them. Much as I hate Poopey, I have to admit Hart had them playing with spirit and not a little skill. Sacking him will be the biggest nail in their coffin imo. I really can't believe they have done what they have. This proves the lunatics have well and truly taken over the asylum. Wouldn't be at all surprsied to see Burley unveiled. -

You have a point but don't forget Lowe and Co were always answerable to the shareholders/fans while Liebherr is only answerable to himself, ultimately. A point I rather unsuccesfully tried to make on here in the summer.

Out of all our recent managers, going back 20 years Pardew talks the most sense. So he can talk the talk for sure. He has a way to go before he can claim to walk the walk however but he does not have an easy job, even without financial restrictions. I am extremely grateful I haven't got to listen to the gibberish of Burley however.
-
If he left they would fall apart. One thing I give him credit for is he has them playing with spirit and under the circumstances that must have taken some doing!
-
If you had gone to the Brighton game you might have lowered your optimism a tad. It was quite an eye opener. Beaten by a better side - a sobering thought when it was Brighton!

Play a reserve team against Northampton..?
Fitzhugh Fella replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
He's cup-tied (Eastleigh v Basingstoke)! -
The Observer is reporting today that there may be at least another week to wait before the embargo is lifted (if at all) despite the club saying on Monday it would happen within 48 hours. Also Grant's work permit is still not granted.

Waigo - the next Camara or Ali Dia in disguise?
Fitzhugh Fella replied to Huffton's topic in The Saints
Bit OTT I agree however yesterday was incredibly frustrating especially in the last 10 minutes when both sides were pushing hard in the swirling wind. On two occasions we broke with Waigo in good scoring positions but both times he got into offside positions and the oportunity was wasted. The first time was criminal because he was wide on the right and could see the whole field of play yet still could not stay onside. I would rather not have him on the pitch because on the 2nd occasion, if he wasn't there, Melis might well have gone on by himself and scored instead of laying it on for the blatantly offside Waigo. If you had been there too too might have been saying "moronic" things about him. You should have heard a few comments in the Northam. If he can't learn the offside rule then I will stick to my guns and say I'd rather we didn't take up his option to buy him when his loan runs out. -

Apologies I withdraw my insult - I see why you said who cares now. I agree too, that the Michael Winner advert is extremely annoying. -

Fitzhugh Fella replied to Huffton's topic in The Saints
If you don't care why do you bother posting - if you can't think of anything to say why don't you slink off back to under your stone and keep quiet rather than insult everyone who does care. You really are a cretin of the highest order. -

That reply has confirmed to me what sort of person you are. A sort of Michael Winner smug sort of arse. If you have got nothing to say why say anything? You are a total nob.
