I am hearing from sources close to PFC that Barclays are bending over backwards re Pompey's overdraft because the Prem are putting pressure on them. The Prem's bank? Barclays of course! Rare that I agree with you but I can tell a similar story. In the pub the other day we did a poll and oput of 20 asked at least half wanted to see Pompey's complete demise. And give or take the odd loon they were all middle class non-violent sorts.

I speak as someone who wouldn't care if you went out of business because that would finally establish my club as the biggest on the South Coast. I used to be ambivalent about Pompey. As a kid I even spent the odd afternoon at Fratton watching the likes of Hiron, Milkins, NcCann etc. Indeed my Dad used to cycle to Portsmouth just after the war from Southampton to watch the fine side you had then. However both of us have been turned by years and years of blind hatred that has emanated from down the M27 towards our club. It has been bitter and nasty and I simply can't be doing with it anymore. For me now Saints v Pompey is an intense a rivalry as Celtic v Rangers and I bet not many of those two team's supporters would cry over the other's demise. I do feel sorry for you, because you do seem to be a decent fan with a sense of humour - and no doubt there are others too - but I'm sorry I cannot conceal my glea at your predicament (just as I would expect Pompey fans laughed at us in the summer). Whilst however I would welcome your demise, I would at least give you the courtesy of not dancing on your grave. I would take my hat off and offer a silent prayer "there by the grace of God". Sorry but it would be hypocritical of me to say anything else. Perhaps we should have a poll Mods. Are you just happy to see Pompey in a lower position than Saints or do you want them to go completely out of business?

If it wasn't for Pinnacle he could still be with us. Rather have him than Hammond.

For every good cross there is a bad one. He needs to up his consistency levels. I regard him to be a good bench player as he can fill in most positions. He is also slow.

No John, I realise realism and the Saints web forum do not neccesarily go hand in hand. Still perhaps we can concentrate on the JPT or even the Cup. I did not expect to be 13th going into the New Year after our awful start so we are heading in the right direction, and I think Mr Liebherr is now well and truly "hooked" to the cause.

As ever the sensible voice of reality. However I am encouraged that Pardew is publicly saying "we are not a play-off side". It shows he has his feet firmly on the ground. This next month will be a true test for him both on and off the pitch.

Indeed recent results have been better than our recent form. Have been saying this for a while and got a lot of stick for saying so. Still as Trousers has said the timing of these defeat might be a bonus. Trouble is are the good or better players out there and can we attract them? Got some tough matches coming up - - I think by January's end we will know just how serious we are as play-off contenders. With 3 good signings it is very possible but it does depend on the signings.

Tim, read the title it says weekend. We beat Hull's 24 thou yesterday but lost out to Arsenal at the Emirates.

I haven't seen much mention of yesterday's superb attendance yet (apologies if I have missed it.) It is worth highlighting that Saints v Exeter was the biggest crowd outside the Prem, it was also bigger than 5 Prem games - Hull, Birmingham, Burnley, Fulham and Wigan. And I think it was probably the biggest League crowd Exeter have ever played in front of. If our average this season is bigger than Pompey's biggest gate - that should settle all arguments as to who really is the biggest club on the south coast. Although yesterday's game was not pretty, I hope some of the missing thousands come back another day.
