  1. Got to be a forward, Connolly is struggling with fitness and lambert cannot shoulder everything!
  2. From what I hear mess with NC at your peril.
  3. Although I can't remember him perse in the Boxing Day match I was mighty impressed at how Exeter reacted to going down to 10 men and for the last hour they were a better team than us. He must have played a significant part in that. Just as it is silly to go over the top, when we sign someone it is just as foolhardy to express disappointment. Marsden's arrival a perfect example of why it's best to wait at least 6 months. Pardew must know what he is doing and now he has signed 3 centre-halves in Martin (who he rates highly) and now Fonte and Seaborne. Build from the back is sensible planning but if he is never going to play Saga (despite saying good things in the Echo about him, recently in the Echo) I would like to see the arrival of a forward. Lambert and Connolly just don't have the stamina for a long run-in.
  4. Hope they made a mistake on the length of his contract which they say is until 2011.
  5. Yes and it also mentions that the Coventry centre half is being lined up as well.
  6. for a million pounds from Gillingham, according to the People.
  7. If it is lifted by the end of January it won't leave much time to sign anyone or has that fact passed them by?
  8. I remember lots on this forum at the time saying that Jones was crap and we had got a great deal from Sunderland.
  9. Buy this man a beer - he talks sense with reason.
  10. I am increasingly gobsmacked that anyone, but particularly the media, pay any attention to whatever anyone at PFC actually ever says.
  11. If it is called off I hope Mrs Lambert doesn't have her husband out in the back yard clearing the snow.
  12. You forgot Vince Hilaire
  13. I must admit after AP was praising him recently I thought we might see him yesterday. Surely he could have done a reasonable job for us v Luton? I think this story has got legs. If it has then why are the club not telling us? Mind you, they are under no obligation.
  14. Unfortunate turn of phrase you have
  15. And how many people who voted were actually at the game. I sometimes smile when I read people arguing on the "after match threads" about the quality of the performance when they weren't even at the game. St Landrew was at it the other day basing his opinions after listening to the game on the radio and actually contradicting someone who was there. Priceless.
  16. Nick, that is simply not true. He gave the ball away in a terrible position in the 2nd half which darn well nearly ended in a goal for them - it was very slovenly. And what about that crossfield ball in front of his own area v Exeter last week? Everyone makes mistakes but when he does they are in bad positions. Not looking to be confrontational here, I would like him to be the real deal but he aint...not yet anyway!
  17. Moonie alert Sorry couldn't help it!
  18. Watched him very closely today. He did a couple of good things but he did more wrong things and I have to say he remains massively over-rated, I stand by my original opinion.
  19. He did v Basingstoke
  20. Well the takeover happened I suppose because the ownership swopped hands, but it was never a genuine one. Like I said I trusted my source - he was telling me it was all built on a bed of straw and he was 100% correct. Not smug just vindicating myslef against the doubters who believed what Pompey were releasing to the press. Just like now they just spout lies and gullible press like BBC South churn out the crap.
  21. Having recently been on the wrong side of the press myself and having Daily Mail reporters on my doorstep I have come to the conclusion that most work to a pre-ordained agenda. When it suits them they will investigate but they are either being bribed with nice little sweeteners (in my world that is free lunches, flights etc), or they don't want to fall foul of the powerful Premiership who could pull the plug on their reporting rights etc. There are still some decent investigative journalism going on (the Guardian) but by and large Murdoch and the Mail have it all sewn up. Very depressing really.
  22. Do we believe them? And I guess they could still owe Barclays money?
  23. Oh ye of little faith!
  24. Post 366 - my all time favourite and the title of the book when it comes out! Happy New Year, Hypo
  25. Classic - post 338, how quickly one forgets.
