  1. 22,160. (Total home attendance for league matches - 509,695). To put the avearge gate in perspective in 1983-84 when we finished runners-up in the old Div One our average gate was 18,050 Be interesting to see what happens next season.
  2. I spoke with him at length this week and whatever anyone thinks of him he remains a passionate Saints' fan and desperately wants us to succeed.
  3. Nick you are so wrong. I think you will find that he was sacked twice but the first sacking was swiftly rescinded. Don't believe me? Then ask AP himself. No big deal but having being given his cards in May it is no surprise "Dead man Walking" AP rather lost his enthusiasm. You know the rest. It is no longer a big deal. It has worked out fine. We are all leaving the building and boarding Nigels magic bus. But things are not or were not as you have been lead to believe.. it is sad that should you dare on here question the official story, the anonymous cyber warrior, aka Manji launches accusations of having drinking buddies who want a place on the board or me wanting to turn St Marys into a Stalinist kibbutz and not forgetting the cliche if you criticise you must have an agenda. Manji must have been the inspiration for the bloke who wrote the cartoon show "wait till your father gets home" - ever fearful the commies were going to take over the world.
  4. Don't get me wrong - i'm on the bus and am delighted we are going up, but I think people on here and Saints fans in general only see and hear what they want to hear and then tailor their posts/views accordingly. I had info back then and i posted on the strength of it - not because i wanted attention as Manji maintains (for christs sake i get enough of that in my job) but because sometimes i think the fans deserve to know more than they do. Up and away is making all sorts of assumptions in his reply to me based on what? Just his opinion - that's fair enough but it is not objective. Unfortunately I don't want rattle on now, because this is not the time or place and this is a week for all to be celebrating. NC and Adkins have delivered phase one. Fair play - I had reservations, I expressed them in this thread but their way has proved to be succesful so far. Let's hope that continues. (On the strength of you buying the books If you e mail me your mobile quite happy to explain why I said what I did at the time)
  5. In the light of what then happened to Pardew then I think my post to be pretty relevant and accurate. The biggest schitt stirrer on this forum imo is you Manji - and of course you conveniently do it behind the curtain of anonyminity. What you have got against me and why is frankly beyond me but perhaps you would like to get in touch off list and we can discuss it properly? duncan@duncanholley.co.uk
  6. Richardson is one of our worst signings in a decade - take a look at the Brentford pen to see why I have come to that conclusion.
  7. I feel for them - they pushed us hard all the way and deserve nothing but respect. I hope they keep hold of their manager because he seems to one of the best young managers around.
  8. "Pride comes before a fall", "Take nothing for granted", "Don't count your chickens until they are hatched". Need I go on? Let's celebrate when (and if) it is certain and thereby not live up to our growing arrogant reputation.
  9. I must be a bit thick as I didn't realise privately owned business have to publically publsh accounts. What period does this cover Steve?
  10. Sounds a bit dodgy ottery?
  11. Consider it done!
  12. Is that kosher Ottery? Whereabouts and what's he doing?
  13. anyone know where he is these days? I last heard he was working at Snows stationary in Millbrook in 2002 and playing wise got sacked as Wimborne's manager in 2008. Can anyone update this?
  14. There is a lot of work to be done on Forte before he is the finished article. He's had a good day in so much he got 2 fairly straightforward goals but he did look out of his depth at times. Feet on ground and all that. Hopefully he will learn a lot over the next 12 months.
  15. I think you will find there is more chance Pompey being declared the best run club in English football over the last decade than MLT being given a job at St Marys.
  16. Unlike you Steve, to get it wrong. I still don't think we will do it, mainly because we are simply not playing well.
  17. Does Adkins think Chamberlain is some sort of nuclear reactor - "shut him down" - LOL I do wish he would just speak clear English,
  18. For me his best was the chip pver Schmeichal from the 18 yard line in the 6-3 game. How did he get it up and over the big Dane and then down again I will never know. Not on this video but worth checking out. That guy was awesome - and to see those sporting Liverpool fans applaud after he had turned Mark Wright inside out in front of the Kop, what a memory.
  19. An interesting summary Steve. I remember at the time being very agin SISU and made a note to watch what happened at Coventry with interest. What were Ranson's motives I wonder behind SISU's bid? And did Hone and Co genuinely think it was in the club's best interests or were they looking to make a few quid themselves. As you say in hindsight maybe SISU would have been a good thing but there again we would still presumably have the Lowe/Crouch scenario with Wilde swopping sides to suit himself. Although I was pleased that administration brought and end to all the wrangling it also meant that we passed into the ownership of one private party and as such we are vulnerable should things start to fall apart or people lose interest. Not saying that is going to happen butn it could. No doubt Coventry would swop places with us right now.
  20. Saints have changed his age from 23 to 21 in their announcement. But Oldham have him down having a date of birth of 12/12/87 which makes him 23 Wikipedia have him down as being 76. I am confused, Oldham have him playing for Bury in 2006. I think he's 23.
  21. Derry - you need to dust off ITN if you have it. The season being referred to was 1948-49. Ramsey had gone to Spurs by then. With 7 games left we were top with 51 points and Fulham second with 43 and WBA third with the same nos of points. Remember only 2 points for a win. We had just gone to White Hart Lane and in front of 69265 fans won 1-0 with Charlie Wayman, injured and a passenger on the wing (no subs then of course) hobbling in to get to the ball first and score. His ecstatic colleagues carried him back into his own half as my Dad told me who was there. We were up, no doubt about it but with Charlie injured we only picked up 4 points in the remainding games and were overhauled by both Fulham and West Brom. Some Saints fans never recovered (inc my Dad).
  22. Do you know I never understood that transfer. There we were no money and out of the blue we find a million pounds. And Arsenal have forever been waiting in the wings. I think there were more than two parties involved in that deal.
  23. Morgan is out for the rest of the season
