There is a lot of work to be done on Forte before he is the finished article. He's had a good day in so much he got 2 fairly straightforward goals but he did look out of his depth at times. Feet on ground and all that. Hopefully he will learn a lot over the next 12 months.

I think you will find there is more chance Pompey being declared the best run club in English football over the last decade than MLT being given a job at St Marys.

Unlike you Steve, to get it wrong. I still don't think we will do it, mainly because we are simply not playing well.

Does Adkins think Chamberlain is some sort of nuclear reactor - "shut him down" - LOL I do wish he would just speak clear English,

For me his best was the chip pver Schmeichal from the 18 yard line in the 6-3 game. How did he get it up and over the big Dane and then down again I will never know. Not on this video but worth checking out. That guy was awesome - and to see those sporting Liverpool fans applaud after he had turned Mark Wright inside out in front of the Kop, what a memory.

An interesting summary Steve. I remember at the time being very agin SISU and made a note to watch what happened at Coventry with interest. What were Ranson's motives I wonder behind SISU's bid? And did Hone and Co genuinely think it was in the club's best interests or were they looking to make a few quid themselves. As you say in hindsight maybe SISU would have been a good thing but there again we would still presumably have the Lowe/Crouch scenario with Wilde swopping sides to suit himself. Although I was pleased that administration brought and end to all the wrangling it also meant that we passed into the ownership of one private party and as such we are vulnerable should things start to fall apart or people lose interest. Not saying that is going to happen butn it could. No doubt Coventry would swop places with us right now.

Saints have changed his age from 23 to 21 in their announcement. But Oldham have him down having a date of birth of 12/12/87 which makes him 23 Wikipedia have him down as being 76. I am confused, Oldham have him playing for Bury in 2006. I think he's 23.

Derry - you need to dust off ITN if you have it. The season being referred to was 1948-49. Ramsey had gone to Spurs by then. With 7 games left we were top with 51 points and Fulham second with 43 and WBA third with the same nos of points. Remember only 2 points for a win. We had just gone to White Hart Lane and in front of 69265 fans won 1-0 with Charlie Wayman, injured and a passenger on the wing (no subs then of course) hobbling in to get to the ball first and score. His ecstatic colleagues carried him back into his own half as my Dad told me who was there. We were up, no doubt about it but with Charlie injured we only picked up 4 points in the remainding games and were overhauled by both Fulham and West Brom. Some Saints fans never recovered (inc my Dad).

Do you know I never understood that transfer. There we were no money and out of the blue we find a million pounds. And Arsenal have forever been waiting in the wings. I think there were more than two parties involved in that deal.

Charlton 1 - 1 Saints - Post Match Reaction

Words of wisdom -
Morgan is out for the rest of the season

Don't think Stuart Dennis screaming like a banshee helps much either

Did you see Chesterfield last night - now they did look good.

I regularly see "Bootsie" in the Kingsland - a lot of the old faces get in the "Pidgeon Club" in St Denys when Toddy does his NorthernSoul/Reggae gigs. There was one last Saturday but i had had enough to drink by 8 so went home to bed. The times they are a changing.

I saw some old faces at Bournemouth on Saturday. Pete Wilson, old Wimpson boy for one

Some of the contributors met up in the Soul Cellar before a game and indeed the police paid a visit.

Brendan was the stadium safety officer/manager a few years back, nice enough fellow and helpful when we did the GITR appeal. I did read about a year ago he had been appointedonto the executive committee. Never heard of lyndsey. David Jones has left for sure.

heard from a good source yesterday that Morgan is out for the season

I don't know if you have watched many matches recently but if you had you will have seen that while we are picking up the required amount of points for promotion we are heading for a fall that we may be unable to pick ourselves up from. To avert that fall it could well be prudent to make a foray into the loan market before the window closes. There are too many on this forum who don't go to matches who think everything will be ok because of results. Scratch the surface a bit and you will see it's not that good.

I am just back and I am sorry to deflate anyone who hasn’t been and thinks a 3-0 win is satisfactory but that first half we were absolutely dire – the worst I have seen for ages. We looked absolutely clueless and my confidence in Adkins is draining. 2nd half obviously a bit better because we put the ball in the net twice and gained an element of control but that was only because Yeovil were awful. We were far better at Walsall last week – believe me. I am going to Bournemouth but we are going to perform a lot better to get anything.

Contracts - Who's are up at the end of the season?
Fitzhugh Fella replied to EBS1980's topic in The Saints
Martin is out of contract worryingly -
Colin I am sorry I disagree. Richardson's distribution has been very poor. Hoof hoof hoof and while he maybe a better back than Butterfield - arguably - his passing is so bad I don't want him anywhere near the team.

Nice one - touche!
