Do you reckon they will have to play at a neutral venue? If I was one of those fans, now that I know I can get stuff called off, I would be back tomorrow if they were going to play then!
-
Yeah I know I am just joining in..I only came here to nick a corner flag....
-
Errrr That's a bit different...No one got up today and thought..I am going to OT to nick a corner flag during a televised game! They may have turned up for chaos agreed but you said some went to get int he stadium and some went to nick a corner flag...That's clearly not right...Just admit it!
-
Lol they interviewed someone and he said he had just come along to steal a corner flag? Excellent! 🙂
-
I saw the kill the bill protest yesterday and they had flags for everything..There were people walking beside each other with opposing views on their placards....SO TBF I think he might be right, now when there is a protest everyone just turns up..grabs the last banner or placard they used for whatever woke/unwoke protest they attended and just enjoy being there!
-
I don't think thats right..They werent there because they wanted to get in the stadium or steal a corner flag..They took the opportunity to do so but it wasn't the reason they were there?
-
This thread has made me realise I have never met anyone who had exactly the same view on every single subject that i have. Therefore everyone else is a right twat.

Perhaps they need to play all the games in secret, record them then release the whole season as a boxset all at once?
-
it feels like films are getting longer rather than shorter in recent years, there appear to be far more 3 hour plus films than I remember previously, and yet they seem to grab the younger audience still? Perhaps it isn't about length, its about the content?

Defending free kicks with a player lying down behind the wall
Pedantic Pete replied to jawillwill's topic in The Saints
I suppose what it does do is stop your players in the wall being hesitant about jumping as high as they can in case it goes underneath. With the low shot covered they can just look to get height as soon as the player takes the kick? So I don't think it is necessarily about covering the low shot it's about the wall only having the one job? -
Maybe we will see a fixture list soon? Perhaps Madrid need to get used to the old Sunday morning feeling of turning up for a game and your opponents haven't showed up?

Is the Premier League too rich for us?
Pedantic Pete replied to Lallana's Left Peg's topic in The Saints
What period is this over? Apart from Spurs and Leicester we spent more than all the others (including Bournemouth which is what the discussion was about). -
Well they either didn't make many or they sold fast..Only small or 2XL left for the 87-89 home shirt....
-
Yeah as long as you have a guaranteed 350m each year from a closed shop league!
-
They could ban them from the Champions league but looks like half of them will do that for themselves anyway!
-
Probably worse for them...Who is going to buy Werner now?
-
True but there is no reason you couldn't agree it now in any league. However don't forget Man Utd already was floated a few years back, I think the owners have around 70% but I wonder how or if it would be different it if they owned only 49%? Surely there must be something else to the model.
-
I think its the rule in Germany of the league so there would be nothing to stop the league making a rule that any individual or corporation couldn't own more than 49% of the shares in a club. The issue in that case would be getting the clubs to vote for it.. Turkeys and Christmas comes to mind!
-
That's just mental...Well don't spend 70m on a centre back and don't pay 150k per week then it would be sustainable.
-
They just sell shares of 51% of the club. actually I bet Gao wished he thought of that before to get some of his money back!
-
I think you are right but the greedy owners of the other 14 will be desperately hanging on to those hundreds of millions. I fear that football is too far gone to ever reset itself.
-
I hope those teams can source brick proof coaches for the trip to Anfield!
-
TBF less people might be interested, but as a saints fan were you less interested in league 1?
-
However football has become less competitive than ever. Every league- including the premier league- has only a few clubs that realistically can win the league and that's it. Money has destroyed any pretence of competition so IMO it's time for them to move on. Fans have been walked over for years, it's not sport it's business, and if those clubs stay they will find ways of taking a bigger and bigger share anyway, increasing the gap further.

That's interesting and reflects on the poor running of the club but the discussion was about whether we should be embarrassed that Bournemouth have a higher record transfer and/or spent more money than us (which they didn't?) My assumption is that we paid better wages- mostly to players who only played a handful of games between them- and therefore managed to waste a lot..Again this may be a work of fiction- i haven't checked its sources- but it suggests we had a much higher wage bill than Bournemouth. https://www.footballfancast.com/exclude/every-premier-league-clubs-wage-bill-in-2019-2020/11
