I am quite happy to support a bit of structured civil obedience when there's a need, but you could see the vast majority of people there (I watched some if it live last night, including the bit where the Beeb reporter got punched by the sound of it) were just idiots with their hoodies up, swearing at the camera, saying 'brap' and stealing things. Furthermore, their nation as a whole has, by and large, done more soul searching and flagellation that anyone else could have done. It's time to move on. Anything else is pathetic. Do you really think we should hate the Spaniards over their attempt to attack us with the Armada? It's these entirely irrational hatreds and burdens of nationalist grudge-holding that cause many of the world's problems. The same is true elsewhere. There is no point in berating the UK now for crimes of the past - yet many in the world do. The problem is when nations keep on, and on, giving yet more reasons.

Naturally, with a higher percentage of Muslims in a population, a higher number will have extreme sympathies, if relative proportions remain - so perhaps it is more likely that some protest etc will occur in the places you mentioned that in, say, Winchester... Yet you know very well that you are tarring an entire group with the same negative judgemental brush. That's racism.

Echo what others have said. Loughborough is by far the better academically and in terms of reputation, but Trent actually has a fairly decent and regarded art school. if she's hoping to work as an art type, as such, then it may be possible that Trent is better. There is certainly more of an art scene in Nottingham than Loughborough...

We would not be who we are today if it were not for the (longer, in terms of civilisation) histories of countires such as Greece, Italy, and indeed China. The royal family is bloody german, for god's sake. Have you ever seen the Athenian Acropolis? The Colosseum? The great wall of china? For that matter, do you have any ideas of the history of Germany, or France? Mesopotamia? I'm sure others have made this point already, I couldn't be bothered to read through.
