Really Alps? They caught us napping but we gave the top five sides a real scare. West Brom? Nothing to fear but a good challenge... Don't really think I'm being controversial there...
-
I'm happy with that... Good indication of where we'll be going... Winnable but challenging
-
And that's the point, if I was them I'd snap up the cheap ticket asap before they realise they've f**ked up. Ticket for life anyone?

Hold on a sec... How many of these season tickets are purchased by Trust members? I'd be more interested in the breakdown of the cost of these tickets... I'd hazard a guess and say that the income from these season tickets won't actually be that much. You've spent your £1,000, you get a discounted season ticket right? I would expect at least those people who gave money to the trust to get season tickets so how much of that figure are regular non trust fans? How many Trust members are there?

I have a lot of time for WGS. I interviewed him for Beautiful South quite early on, his training sessions were light years away from Hoddle and Gray, high impact and intensive they focused on one touch football and physical fitness. He and Paul Telfer would often nip off for run after the training session which always amused me as everyone else looked knackered. In terms of interviews he was ruthless, if he didn't like you or you ****ed up he'd be on it like a flash. Show a bit of respect, be measured in your approach and he was great fun. I remember Meridian getting the run around, I got 40 minutes with him which rather ****ed them off... Right man, right place, right time... I'll always love the guy...

Pompey fans are the.. "Most local and loyal fans I have ever seen and it is a shame for them, but I guess they are in a good place now as they own the club." Local? Yep... all 9,000 of them... "I was eligible for a medal but had it stolen from the hotel after the game, which I was gutted about, so I don’t have a medal. Which is the only downside of that season." What do you expect from the skates Sean? At least you got paid...

"I can't afford a ticket. I'm poor. I live among the poor. I don't know anyone who is going to a World Cup game," said Santa Cruz's most famous fan, Bacalhau, who has worn nothing but his team's colours for 38 years and had all his teeth extracted and replaced with tri-coloured dentures." Makes Westwood look a bit plastic doesn't it?

It does make you wonder if Galloway screens these calls before taking them. All four of these EDL muppets are far too easy to shoot down. I'd be interested to see Galloway go against the guy who's posted that "I am offended by Islam" video that's going viral at the moment. That would be a far more entertaining debate than this one sided freak show...
-
It would be rather funny if a thread about the EDL lasts longer than one about fried chicken....

Matalan mafia... I love that... The Stoke fans sang "Your suits from Matalan..." We sang, your gear's from poundland" back at them.. Cheeky northern monkeys..

I wasn't particularly offended by your comments until you chirped up with this one... The man's job was to uphold yours and other people's freedoms. That deserves respect. If you can't offer that then pop over to the middle east and put your points across there. See how far you get...

The interwebbed? Guess it's better than interbred...

I doubt Martin Samuel has an anti Saints bias but you do wonder where the articles are that ever praise us in any way. The fact that he never mentions the fact that Cortese has guided the club from -10 in League 1 to the Premier League in 4 seasons probably means that most Saints fans will look at the article and think it's a bit loaded on one side. In regards to a club's achievements you can argue that the managers did that, I'd argue that the players did that as well, the manager simply got them playing together in a cohesive unit. The chairman does likewise, gets all the ingredients together to achieve success but the moment it's mentioned that they too merit some congratulations, they're mocked. A club is the sum of all parts and quite often the chairman is overlooked. I like Bill Kenright but you ask any Everton fan and they bemoan the lack of investment when Kenright will quite gladly tell you that if you found a suitable, long term buyer, he'd sell tomorrow... He's done well for the toffees but how often does he get praise? Not enough in my book... Samuel's a bit of tool, he likes the controversial points but often misses bits out that don't suit his standpoint...

Who knows? There were plenty of people who thought we'd struggle this season and yet here we are comfortably safe before the last game, beating the Champions of England, the Champions of Europe and Liverpool and then ran the new Champions all the way home and away. This is also the same team that a lot of people thought would struggle in the Championship and yet we weren't out of the top two all of that season. Do I think I think we'll finish top 4? Unlikely in my opinion but impossible? No, not with the proper investment and a few top notch signings. Why do we seem so eager to shoot ourselves down?
-
What is it with this message board? A club legend thinks we could be a top four side and all of a sudden he's got Cortese behind him operating him like a ventriloquist's dummy? All of a sudden a man who's played the game at the highest level doesn't know a thing and some bloke on an interweb messageboard who's probably just about played pub football, knows better... Are we that scared of being successful that we'll shoot down anyone who dares predict something good for this club??

It appears Luton fans aren't too happy.... "Trust issues new letter over Pompey punishment Published on 03/05/2013 07:00 Persistent Luton Town supporters club Trust in Luton have followed up their letter to the Football League over the sanctions administered to rivals Watford by penning another missive to the authorities about the punishment handed out to League One Portsmouth, writes Mark Wood. Feelings still run high among Hatters supporters over the 10-point deduction they suffered in 2007–08 for entering administration and the draconian 30 points docked from its 2008–09 record by the Football Association and Football League for various financial irregularities. A statement by TiL read: “The purpose of our letter to the Football League is, once again, to draw their attention to and seek their comments on the contradictions between the sanctions imposed against each club. “It’s taken five years but the unfathomable decisions by the football authorities in 2008 are now starting to unravel and it’s time to find out exactly what did happen behind those closed doors. “We want a response to both letters. We all – every one of us Luton supporters – deserve an explanation. Not a wall of silence. Not a bland dismissive non-statement. But an explanation. At the very least. “Watch this space. TiL – on your behalf, and on our club’s behalf - will not let this lie.” Portsmouth’s 10-point deduction will be imposed this season in stark contrast to what happened to the Hatters. The statement continued: “You won’t have been surprised to learn that Portsmouth have been docked 10 points for coming out of administration for the second time in three years without, in the Football League’s own words “a fully compliant CVA” - because after all, rules are rules. “What is surprising, however, is that those 10 points have been deducted from this season’s points tally – a season in which Portsmouth have already been relegated - making the deduction a meaningless gesture. “If you recall, in the summer of 2008, Luton were hit with a 20 point deduction by the Football League when coming out of administration. “Far from being backdated into our own relegation season of 2007-08, the points were to be taken from the 2008-09 season which, when added to the FA’s own 10 point penalty, gave rise to our infamous, and widely criticised, -30 point season. An effective death sentence to our Football League status.” And while pleased to have seen Pompey rescued by a supporters group TiL are understandable puzzled by the differences in treatment. The statement added: “As the Supporters Trust who contributed to securing the future of our club after the mismanagement, misdemeanours and misjudgements of previous owners had put us into administration, we of course applaud the work and success of the Portsmouth Supporters Trust in rescuing that fine old club, which has suffered so much from bad ownership. “No-one knows how much that struggle hurts and costs more than we do. “But for the second time in a short period, we are left scratching our heads in puzzlement. “How come – again – a club gets a meaningless punishment, when we were left deep in the mire in similar circumstances? “Despite sending a reminder, we haven’t yet had the decency of a response from the Football League’s Andy Williamson to our letter about the contrast between Watford’s sanctions and ours. “Perhaps he’s waiting to see where they finish? But we have now written to him again about the Portsmouth case.” A lot of people might ask the same question. For a club that has supposedly been dumped on by owners and the governing bodies, they do seem to keep on catching a break. Tell a Pompey fan that without the likes Chainrai and Antonov their club would have folded ages ago and watch them go....

I was, rather naively, going to ask about the "If you pay cash you get a better discount" thing but I guess they have no choice... Guess they're paying the price for defaulting on so many debts..

The writing's on the wall. Common sense says the squad they have now is beyond them financially and yet here they are talking about spending this, spending that, expanding the ground, setting up academies... Their problem lies in the fact that now they have to actually repay some money but they really need to buy stuff on credit, but who will give them credit? Everything will have to be paid n cash and probably in advance and for a club on their sort of budget? well... they're ****ed...
