Well. if West Ham do come calling for JWP, they apparently have over £100m sloshing around. Just like when we sold Van Dijk etc, other clubs know you have the money and the price for your target invariably goes up. (Phone call to Saints)...."Hello, West Ham here. We're interested in your Ward-Prowse chappy" (Reply) "Is that the same West Ham that just sold your Rice chappy for, let me see, one hundred and five million pounds?" (Reply) "Yes, that's right" (Reply) "Fine. Shall we start negotiating at £80m. That would still leave you a very tidy £25m in the bank"....... I jest of course, but please feel free to complete the conversation.

Lyanco is Marmite. Some people like him, some hate him and I guess we have to agree to disagree on this. My own feeling is, I think we should keep him. I think The Championship which has less finesse than the Prem, and is generally a more robust, direct league might be more to his liking. Players tend not to roll around feigning injury and conning the ref after every strong tackle. Having watched a fair bit of Championship football, there seems to be more "full blooded" tackles going in and I just have a hunch that it will suit Lyanco's game. Add to that, his obvious enthusiasm and attitude and I happen to think he will be an asset in this league. I may be wrong of course and there are no doubt those here that will tell me so. I'm not going to argue anyone else's considered opinion, but that's as I see it. Assuming he stays, time will no doubt tell who was right and who was wrong.

Thanks Viking. I went for a lay down after that.

There once was a team known as Leicester Backed by a wealthy investor You'd think "bullet dodgers" Wouldn't sack Brendan Rodgers And end up with the unknown Maresca. Meanwhile down on the South Coast There was a vacancy for the same post With three managers parting They chose Russell Martin Because I guess he was cheaper than most. So Mr Wankerson if you ever read this We're tired of you taking the piss You fucked up before And if you do it once more My arse you are welcome to kiss!

Yep. Got mine. The first question was "How old are you?" Apparently "Fuck Off" isn't a "valid number", so gave up.

Hope we keep him. Before he went out on loan I saw glimpses from him which suggested he would make it, but he seemed to lack confidence. I think sending him out on loan to Burnley has proved to be a brilliant move for all concerned. He certainly helped Burnley get promoted, proved to himself he can score goals regularly and as a result, we hopefully get the finished product back. When I see the name Nathan mentioned in relation to Saints I still have a nasty nervous twitch, but that's down to Nathan Jones. With a bit of luck, next season when we see or hear the name Nathan mentioned it with bring a warm glowing feeling and that will be down to Nathan Tella,

So, apparently the rumour is, we're getting one of the Manchester City Coaches...... 52 seats, Very comfortable. low mileage. Toilet on board. TV. Long MOT......Nice!

In a sad sort of way, I am kind of relieved we have already been relegated. Imagine the forlorn hope that we would all have had on here, that this bunch could get us a season saving result against Liverpool on the final day. We are where we are because we deserve to be, thanks mainly due to the appalling decisions made by the club. Maybe it's better that way than to have Van Dijk score a last minute winner to break our hearts and send us down.

Having just celebrated another Birthday (1st May) there will never be another Birthday present quite like the one I received from "the lads" that day in '76. I was in my teens and it still gives me a warm tingle (thankfully!) when I see that goal replayed and Peter Rodriguez lifting the Cup. No one can ever take that day away.

NURSE!!! He's out of bed again.

The accuracy or lack of with these marginal offsides is not where the lines are drawn, but the exact moment the ball is played by the player making the pass. Is it when the ball is in contact with the foot? Is is when the ball leaves the foot. I've seen VAR pictures where the ball appears to be be 3 feet wide (slight exaggeration. In those split seconds when a pass is made can be the difference between being mm onside or mm offside. Case in point was Walcott's recent offside against Grismby when JWP took the quick free-kick and Walcott broke their back line. I didn't see one decent picture of the ball leaving JWP's foot, so how can VAR say when the ball was actually played. I can't remember if the lino flagged on that one. If he didn't and the ref thinks it's a good goal - in my book it should stand unless VAR can clearly show they made a mistake and in that case I don't think they proved anything.

Maybe I'm going daft (good possibility), but here's my spin on it. Knowing the fragile nature of the confidence and "flakiness" within this team, and as we saw last season, the way we "relaxed off" after we realised we were safe, barely picking up another point in the final however many games,, in a way I would rather we were in our current position, rather than just above that drop line with 10 games to go. At least being where we are, we know we cannot get any worse position wise, and we MUST get results to climb out of it. Conversely, if we were just above that line there would I'm sure, be a feeling that we MAY NOT need to get results because of the teams already below us, but at the same time a nagging feeling of getting dragged below that line and not being able to reverse the trend. From where we are now, at least we know what we've got to do. There are 8 or so teams above us who will be as nervous or even more nervous than us, of being dragged into the bottom 3 and that will have an effect on how they play. The odds of us staying up are still slim, but if we do pull it off it will be one of the great escape stories. Comments as to my daftness welcomed. 😃

I just checked. When we beat them 3-2 at their place last season - Ely scored one and also got an assist. Unfortunately the same check revealed.....no surprise here.....that Beds scored an own goal.

I officially no longer have a wife. Which is probably just as well, because I would hate to have to try and explain the offside rule to her now. To be honest, I don't think she ever really got it when I did understand it.

Ralph has been mentioned as a replacement......but then, so have Santos, Gerrard, Benitez etc etc.

I spoke to Lawrie McMenemy, if not last season, then the season before, at a game at St Mary's. We had the briefest of chats, but he did tell me that he now has to pay for his seat at St Mary's, which if true, (and I had no reason to doubt him) is absolutely disgraceful. The man will always be a Saints legend. Possibly even deserves a stand named after him. So - here's a question.....If we could name the four sides of St. Mary's, after Saints legends, which four names would you choose?

I see Graham Potter has his family have reportedly received death threats. Absolutely disgusting! I know we were pretty vitriolic/hostile toward Nathan Jones, and with some justification I believe, but I really hope no Saints fans stooped to that level. As passionate and as angry as we get as football fans, there have to be boundaries that one doesn't cross. Potter seems like a decent guy and doesn't deserve that. I can see him walking if it continues.
-
Nathan Jones' final training session with Saints. He had all but given up trying to explain his front footed and aggressive style of play........ and stuff.
-
And no sponsor's name emblazoned across the front of Mick Channon's shirt! I guess if they'd had the choice in those days, he and Alan Ball would have had "The Racing Post"🐴😃 I see clubs are likely to "voluntarily" ditch Betting Sponsor's logos on shirts. Looks like we'll be needing a new shirt sponsor.

Haven't seen this suggested yet. Apologies if it has.....a tweak to the lyrics....... Let it never be said, Southampton are dead We're the pride of the South, we've got James Ward Prowse We've got Lavia too, and we're coming for you We go marching in, so let the singing begin....... Ruben Ruben Ruben Ruben Da Da Da Da Da Da Ruben Ruben Ruben Ruben Da Da Da Da Da Da Repeat as long as you want......
-
I see Potter still has the full backing of the Chelsea board and Moyes has the full support of the West Ham board..............just a matter of time then I guess. Chelsea can obviously attract a big name, but West Ham must be looking around at the same uninspiring list of available managers that we have discussed here, and thinking what's the point? Lampard obviously has family ties there but I really don't think he's up to it. Sacked by Chelsea & Everton is hardly going to inspire the West Ham lot. Gerrard or Rooney? Marsch? Are any of those better than Moyes? Mad Nate's available of course.....

Apparently he tripped over his bulging wallet and crashed head first into his own ego.

I've got a feeling Leeds will be more nervous than us about this game. If we win, they are bottom. I know it's stating the bleeding obvious, but Stu and Sulemana, with KWP and possibly Perraud to run directly at their already fragile defence around their area, They are going to be shit-scared of tackling near their own box for fear of fouling, knowing that a JWP free-kick will follow. It worked with Stu doing just that at Chelsea. And if they don't put a tackle in, that opens up other opportunities for us.

That's great isn't it. Pope out of the Carabao Cup Final. Debravka out as he's cup-tied having already played, incredibly for their opponents Man U. You couldn't make it up could you. Got a feeling the Saudi money may not help in this instance. I can't wait to hear the wonderful "toon army" singing at Wembley......."E-I-E-I-O we've fucked it up again you know". Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch!
