  1. The match officials for the Wolves non-penalty debacle dropped from next weekend's games. Big deal! Presumably these muppets get paid handsomely for making these blatant fuck-ups. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66506026
  2. I'm really not missing VAR where we are now. Regarding the "non-penalty" for Wolves - poor decision by the ref not to give it, but absolutely shameful decision by VAR. And then a yellow card for the Wolves manager for protesting. We would have been fuming if that had gone against us and Wolves have every right to feel hard done by. The Premier League is so biased towards the big clubs it has made the whole league a joke and VAR has got a lot to answer for in that respect. I know Saturday's game against Norwich had it's highs and lows for Saints, but overall, from what I've seen so far in the Championship, the games are more free flowing and thereby more entertaining without stopping for VAR at every marginal decision.
  3. BBC Sport saying Caicedo to Liverpool for £111m is nearly complete. However Sky have just reported that Chelsea have offered £115m and could be completed by tomorrow. What the actual fuck? It's not often I shout for Chelsea haha.
  4. How about.....Chelsea get Lavia for £50+m and then.....wait for it.....have so many midfield players, they loan him back to us for a season. Obviously my medication has just kicked in, but would that be a "Scouse Headfuck" or what?
  5. Bearing in mind Chelsea's first game is against Liverpool this weekend, if they do pick up Caicedo and Lavia, even if neither plays in that game, the whole psychological ramifications of "we're richer than you" will surely damage the Liverpool mindset for this weekend. I don't like Chelsea, but would rather see Lavia develop under Poch than under Klippity and will make Liverpool's approaches for him even more laughable.
  6. Completely off topic of course, but linked to the Spike Milligan comments and and (I think) a funny story for you Spike fans.....with a tenuous link to football. I was privileged to meet Spike a few times and would occasionally see him in the Bayswater (London) area, where he had his office. I still have a personal letter I received from him which I treasure. Anyway - the story.....It was 1997 (I just checked) and my Dad's Birthday was approaching. I saw that Spike was signing a new book about The Goons at John Menzies in the City of London. My Dad was a massive Goons fan. I was working in London at the time, and thought it would make a great present, so on the day, I parked my car in the City (those were the days) and went off to John Menzies. There was already a massive queue around the shop and I joined the end of it. The queue moved at a snail's pace partly because Spike didn't just sign people's books, but had a chat, or a laugh and joke with absolutely everyone he was signing the book for. I queued for about 2 hours in total. It felt like it was taking forever. As I queued, I noticed all around the shop were signs and posters displayed, which read 'NEXT WEEK! JIMMY GREAVES WILL BE SIGNING COPIES OF HIS NEW BOOK'. Eventually it was my turn to step forward and have my book signed. I stepped forward but suddenly stopped in front of him. "Oh bloody hell" I said. "What's wrong?" asked Spike. I said "I've queued here for two solid hours to get my book signed and I thought you were Jimmy Greaves!" He laughed. I laughed. Everyone around laughed. He took the next book off the pile and said "I am Jimmy Greaves. Do you want me to sign it Jimmy Greaves?" (More laughter) I said "No, it's for my Dad, he won't get the joke, you'd better sign it Spike Milligan". More laughter. I left the shop, returned to my car and of course......I'd got a parking ticket for overstaying my welcome. My Dad passed away 10 years ago, but when he died I took possession of the book and still have it......published 1997.....and thankfully signed "Spike Milligan" and not Jimmy Greaves. Yes I've read all his "war" books. Incredibly funny and sad in equal measure. He was certainly a hero of mine. The man was, with the greatest respect, completely bonkers in terms of his comedy, but then he was, in my opinion, a genius. As I say, completely off topic, but thanks for letting me share this memory. I have other stories about him, but another time maybe.
  7. Just a random thought. Maybe the Flynn Downes part of the deal is a bit of a non-starter and either they or us have pulled the plug on it. Or Wet Spam playing silly buggers, "You fuck around with us and we'll fuck around with you" in a good old East End tradition. In my opinion, if they haven't bought him by tomorrow night we should play him against Norwich.
  8. Everyone knows they are sitting on the £105m from the Rice sale. I seem to recall when we sold VvD for what was a great fee at that time, the prices of all our targets suddenly increased.
  9. Let's face it, Jones royally fucked us all! I still get a nasty twitch when I see his name.
  10. You're right - he did.
  11. Nice to win on a Friday.....at Wednesday. A word to the fans who travelled up there. Well done!!! You came through loud and clear and did us proud. Safe journey home all.
  12. Yeh, KWP for me.....just, with JWP. We must do everything to keep KWP now that Tino is off. He looked like he's found his mojo again. I see there are 2 votes for Aribo 🤣.......presumably for nearly breaking into a trot.
  13. Yes I agree. Some posts on that Liverpool site are refreshingly good, and (although I didn't read many) are largely in agreement with us. I think now, maybe they will walk away from it....I hope so. As I see it, if they cave in now and pay us what we have valued him at from the start, they will be seen to have lost a major battle of wills, which will be a green light to other clubs to treat them the same way. And in so doing their fans and their media will see it as having wasted a big chunk of pre-season fannying about over a few million. On the other hand, If they walk away now, I think it would look better for them in the "bigger picture" with them saying something to the effect of "We wanted the player but in our opinion he was over valued by Southampton and we weren't prepared to pay what they wanted". In other words, they weren't prepared to back down to our demands. In either scenario they will still be seen as having wasted valuable pre-season time by not getting it sorted quicker. This seems appropriate....
  14. They will just have to walk away then. They won't be on their own though, because I've heard it said they never walk alone. We should send out a message that it's £55m now for anyone who is interested, just to piss the Scousers off.
  15. Assuming Nathan Tella stays here, and I sincerely hope he does, can someone (cleverer than me) "doctor" the Burnley poster, and replace Nathan Tella's picture with this. "FREE NUTELLA. IT'S ALL WE CAN AFFORD" or words to that effect.
  16. Lavia has looked absolute class, even with Mad Nate and Reuben Selles coaching him. Just imagine how frighteningly good he could become with some decent coaching and world class team mates around him. Regrettably, he's obviously going to leave us soon, but I sincerely hope we stick it out for "top dollar" with sell on clauses for him, and then watch him rise to the absolute top, to become a £100m + player - and good luck to him.
  17. Ah, that'll be the same West Ham that just pulled Arsenal's pants down for £110m for Declan Rice. Yeah....Right! Assuming JWP is only half as good as Rice (which I would dispute), I make that £55m.
  18. Damn! I never thought of that. A cunning plan for next time. Cheers for your advice.
  19. I was in Liverpool recently. My first time there. I went into a pub and there was a pub quiz just starting. I wasn't that bothered but joined in anyway, just for something to do really. There were 40 questions in total. For a laugh, I answered all 40 questions alternately, with "The Beatles" and "Stevie Gerrard". Answer 1 - The Beatles Answer 2 - Stevie Gerrard Answer 3 - The Beatles Answer 4 - Stevie Gerrard...........and so on for all 40 questions.................. I came second!!!! BOOM BOOM.
  20. Sorry, my mistake, I did mean Bayern Munich which would also have been a lot easier to spell.
  21. Not Saints related but maybe of interest to some. I have it on pretty good authority (someone with some serious inside knowledge at Tottenham) that Harry Kane to Borussia Monchengladbach is as good as done. Daniel Levy apparently even willing to accept a lesser fee from the German side, to prevent him going to a Premiership rival club. Just passing on what I was told.
  22. Where did it all go wrong for OR? From playing in the Adrenalin fueled cauldron and electric atmosphere of St. Mary's, to ending up at the dead beat wilderness of the Nou Camp..........Oh! Good luck to him. Great Saints servant, a proper player and by all accounts a good guy!!!
  23. Halle fucking luja. Waited for Saints to be relegated and then probably said "My work here is done". An utter wank stain.
  24. My sincere apologies. I honestly didn't realise this was traditional Mali attire. No offence intended and respect to Djenepo and his culture..
  25. What on earth was Djenepo wearing in that video? Looks like he slept in a four-man tent, and then decided to wear it to work. Pull a cord and it becomes an emergency dinghy. Obviously been shopping in the Lewis Hamilton Catalogue of Ridiculous Attire. Don't let Davis or Calvert-Lewin at Everton see it. They'll want one.
