  1. it's the SaintsWeb way. Fully agree with your post. A rarity of common sense on many threads.
  2. Interesting fact. Eddie Howe was there today; sat just behind me. Be very afraid OGS.
  3. At last some sense amongst all the bed-wetting/we're doomed/outrage.
  4. It really doesn't; it just shows they were prepared to spend more than we were. Money talks.
  5. I wish we were West Ham, Everton, Villa, Wolves, Brighton.
  6. Very rarely post, but thank you for posting this really good analysis; a very interesting read.
  7. I'm glad our players and management team have more bite and backbone within them than most of our fans do.
  8. Knew him just to say "alright mush" in pubs and at games. A great Saints lad; crazy, fearless and funny. So sad.
  9. What does NY Saint reckon?
  10. Fantastic site. Congratulations. Brought back many great memories of Saints in the 80s and 90s.
  11. He probably has the highest sale value - the club have decided that Gunn is the future, so are trying to get as much cash in as possible. He's a high value asset.
  12. FWIW, I rarely post and am not ITK re SFC. However, a bloke who works for me (not Saints fan) is friends with Adams' agent and an owner of another PL club. I was told last week (before anything broke in the media) that his move to us "almost complete". I guess lots can still happen, but the club owner said he will be a great buy for us.
  13. Interesting views and very similar to my own. I don't eat meat but milk and cheese are things that I can't give up. There is no humane way to rear and slaughter animals for food and no need to do it; even if we ignore the fact that meat isn't actually that healthy for us and can be a significant cause of cancer. Referring to the point above, I think eating nothing but 3 plates of veg and hummus a day would make anyone ill. We don't need meat to function and be successful - it's not difficult to eat great vegetarian/vegan food and still do well; I currently hold the record for a 10K speed trial on a bike...all powered without meat. Avoiding meat doesn't make you scrawny or weedy.....Serena Williams?? And there are some companies doing some amazing things with plant based alternatives; in blind tests, many meat eaters couldn't tell the difference between these products and real meat. Look at impossiblefoods.com who supply burgers to airlines and Burger King. Beyondmeat.com have just raised a bucketful of money in the US; in Holland, thevegetarianbutcher.com is one of the fastest growing food producers around and our own BrewDog produces 90%+ of their beers as vegan. Even Sainsburys now sell a vegan/veg fish burger which for me has always been the food group these companies have struggled with. No one has cracked bacon yet though!! I am by no means a tree-hugger; won't be giving up the car any time soon and wouldn't like to be "pious and virtuous" as many vegans appear to be. but there are huge environmental reasons to stop eating meat. Animal agriculture occupies almost half the land on earth, consumes a quarter of our freshwater and destroys our ecosystems. Compared to a meat based burger, a plant alternative uses 96% less land, 7% less water and 89% fewer emissions - but there is no political will (esp in the US) to look at addressing this. I genuinely believe that at some point in the future (6-7 generations) people will look back and say "did they really eat animals??!!. Just my humble input.
  14. Totally how I see it too. Ross is only there because we had to have some continuity on the football side throughout this season, probably also influenced by the fact that our first choice DOF wasn't immediately available. He'll be gone in the summer.
  15. And Cedric.
  16. IMO we come out of the window with a better squad than last year and a better manager who has shown that he can galvanize the players to perform.
  17. Good summation. Again, we didn't let Loserpool **** us over. Well payed Saints.
  18. Is that the same book that told us Cedric and Lemina had played their last games for Saints? That they were both definitely, without question, no doubt whatsoever off before the season started? I can see a pattern in you and you book, both are full of shyte.
  19. I think people are overlooking the fact that Hughes will not play the same way as MoPe. We've seen already in pre-season that Gabbiandini is being used in a totally different way, and it's a way that makes him much more dangerous. This will in turn create chances for others (Austin for example) and I think he himself will have a 12-14 goal season. Armstrong and Moi are welcome attacking additions in positions that we have been lacking in. Don't underestimate how good Sam G could be this season as well; the club (I hope) see a bright future for him here - he looks stronger, fitter and with 2 season's experience in the Champ under his belt should be making good contributions too. It's not all gloom and doom. Clubs outside the top 6 don't (and can't afford to) sign strikers who will guarantee 20 goals a season. I believe our goals scored performance will be much improved this year and am looking forward to seeing this. Welbeck would be ideal - not because he'll score loads himself, but because he'll create for others IMO.
  20. Yep; some of our fans are just plain ****ing embarrassing.
  21. But I bet he's awesome on FM or some other computer game.
  22. Funny game football;..... When Forster got injured the general view was that we were stuffed/going down because he was a top keeper, an international and playing so well. When he returned from injury our defence suddenly looked so much more secure and (I think, but may be wrong) we went on a long run of games where we didn't concede any. Signing him up then (as an example) to a long term deal was lauded by most on here as a shrewd bit of business by the club - "we're not going to keep losing our top players, thank **** Les has done something about it". He lost form and confidence; now the same people are saying he's a "windsock" and was never ever any good, he has always been useless; the idiots who signed him up to a long term deal need to be sacked!! How times have changed......funny game eh?
  23. Wow. 1. Targett is still a Saints player; so again, pse explain why this is a "Giant xxxx up by the Club". 2. How do you know what my attitude is to how the club is run and so how can you say that I am "a massive part of the problem"?
  24. Why?? But then again, not like you to be negative about everything is it?
  25. They're experts don't you know...…….. He will be brilliant for us and this is a very smart bit of business from SFC.
