We could be here all night and this is my last of 3 posts. Not sure Arsenal is a good example - they changed their badge a while back and the fans were in uproar. In my opinion trying to appease fans (if that's what this is) is doomed because they will have such diverse views. A few quick wins might work but after that views will be so different that increasingly large sections will get ****ed off. Far better just to let one person/board just get on making the decisions on what they see fit. Populist approaches just don't work as the mess down the road shows. Sorry I can't contribute further to this.

You're not alone. He had people (most importantly the players) believing that we were going to get into the top four. Despite what some people on here say, he was incredibly motivating; I know (from hearing from them first hand) that some club employees woke up each day with a text from Cortese urging them onwards and supporting them in a very personable way. They would also get one at the end of the day praising what they had achieved and spurring them on to greater things. Unquestionably he had bad points too, but IMO these were outweighed by the positives. Ralph looks good and I hope he can have the same positive affect - he seems to have the credentials to so do, but I worry that the new structure the club is putting in place might have a hand-brake type affect on aspirations and what we believe we can achieve. I can understand why KL is putting more corporate governance systems in place; it will be interesting to see how things pan out and as many on here have commented, it's too soon to really know what will happen. So, anyone with any news on Cortese's takeover bid?? [joke].

Just what we need; another thread on the same subject from one of our "look at me" merchants. You people seem to think the cup was ours if we had won today. The team were more than capable of beating a Sunderland team making 9 changes but played crap. It happens. Get over yourselves FFS. It is very disappointing but there is no plot here to deliberately lose today - though some with their personal agendas would like to believe so. Over and out.

I am sure he thought the team would win esp given that Poyet made it quite clear he would be resting players. The team played crap. End of. I wish we had won but IMHO being in the Europa cup next year would have caused us massive problems. The reaction of some on here is almost that we were guaranteed to win the cup if we beat Sunderland! Some very strange OTT reactions.

Agree totally with this. Will today's wrist-slitters be happy if we end up towards the bottom of the league next season because our players (like Swansea and others) are too ****ed from playing meaningless games against tin pot teams in the far flung corners of Europe? Add to that the endless Thursday and Sunday games????....no thanks.

As others have said, our first team can beat anyone, but beneath that we are lacking quality - there's nothing wrong or surprising in this, what do you expect from our second season back in the PL? We are making massive strides as a club; it's a great position to be in and long may it continue. I wish the likes of Turdish, Glasgow Pastor and Barry would just **** off and "support" someone else - spineless ****s the lot of them.
