  1. Salisu impressive today, perhaps didn't have the flex the attribute that sets him apart from the rest of our CBs too much (his pace, as we defended quite deep) so it is also encouraging to see he has the ability to read the game well, too. On the basis of todays great assist + finish you'd think perhaps it would make sense for Redmond to be playing in the 10 and Minamino up top, rather than vice-versa. Though I think Armstrong, Ings, Djenepo (agree with others that he had a good game today - put in a lot of effort defensively too), Minamino should be the 4 starters in those positions.
  2. Prowsey having an absolute stinker so far.
  3. Think if Salisu is fit to start now is as good a time as any, with him alongside Vestergaard it would give us a defensive partnership who perhaps have experienced less of a knock to their confidence from the last 2 league results than our other options. Not holding my breath but I think KWP would make a world of difference, especially with Vesty back to ping him balls. While this makes sense in theory, we didn't see any higher spending last summer on the back of an 11th place finish than in the 16th and 17th places from the 2 previous seasons, though Covid might be a factor. Surely though, what we all would love to see is Saints to win a trophy, even if the subsequent Europa campaign goes tits up?
  4. False equivalence imo - difference is Walcott will at least have the confidence to take his man on, whereas Long has offered nothing since Koeman and Redmond has offered very little since his excellent late 2018 - early 2019 spell. I do agree with the substance in that I don't think any of the 3 are up to the required standard.
  5. People speak about how Leicester defeat wasn't as bad as the subsequent one to Everton. For me this is the new low
  6. I tend to give benefit of doubt for mistakes when playing out of back but that one is absolutely mental. We had the momentum going our way - there's only seconds left on the clock, so we're not going fashion a chance playing our patient game. In that scenario someone HAS to smell the danger and kick it long.
  7. Discovering Prefab Sprout at the moment, lots of brilliant pop tunes.
  8. Have to say, in spite of our inability to put the game to bed I quite enjoyed it - nice to see us as the team in control of the ball for long stretches of the game (obviously to be expected against this calibre of opposition). Still never really felt like there was a risk of us losing and enjoyed seeing the youth get a run out. I was impressed with the lad Watts, happy for Dan and think the other youth lads gave a decent account of themselves. I echo the frustrations about the finishing of our senior players. Adams really had to bury the 1v1 and Longs inability to control the ball and lay off the simple pass was, as another user here put it, embarrassing. Armstrong looked a cut above the rest when he came on.
  9. If some of the names I've read on this thread are accurate maybe it's for the best the trail has gone cool 😁
  10. I may not be a long time poster on this forum, but I've lurked long enough to know you've got a reputation as a bit of a pedant - now I see why 🙃.
  11. If you recall the away fixture, we couldn't break down a 10-man Tottenham.
  12. You just feel he'd be better served not going off on one via twitter rather than making headlines about the holocaust and making his case a topic of discussion among those crazies. As he's someone who's both dealt with tabloid press as a high-profile player and worked at Sky for so long you'd think he'd have understood his platform and had a bit of common sense drilled in.
  13. I didn't suggest it at all, but I did expect it. YouTube have a reputation for cracking down on innocuous stuff so I'm surprised on my front page of Youtube i was 2 clicks away from actual Nazis given that Youtube are so hawkish on censorship and being advertiser friendly. And I should clarify I don't mean Nazis as in the way Extinction Rebellion nutters think anyone to the right of Keir Starmer is a "Nazi", I mean people who agree with Hitler. I'm sure that accounts on there have been censored or banned (not promoted) for a lot less.
  14. Just saw a YouTube video about the Le Tissier situation that was a bit of a wake up call, not sure if anyone else has seen it (won't share at the risk of breaking forum guidelines). I think this really highlights how shameful some of this business is which Le Tiss has gotten himself involved with - the video itself is merely talking about a link in the video description. The link then takes you to a non-YouTube, "Free Speech" (In this case - code for the rampant Holocaust denialism in the comments) oriented video platform called BitChute, where there's a whole host of unabashed Nazi sympathisers who's remarks make the stuff MLT has been retweeting look PC by comparison. Not that I think Le Tissier has intended to create a link with these groups of people, but even in the best case scenario he was being extremely ignorant and naive and it reflects incredibly badly on the club given he's our new Ambassador. Frankly I'm surprised the YouTube algorithm had even recommended the original video in the first place, and its really bad when you consider it could be going out to a number of younger impressionable saints fans.
  15. I really can't agree with you there, I think he's been perhaps our best player (sans Ings) since the restart. Struggled a bit against United but has been among our best performers in every other outing.
  16. We've got a team who are performing well without a major crisis in any given first XI area at the moment but could do with reinforcements across the board (especially given rumoured outgoings): Assuming we were to sign KWP, depth at the fullback positions still remain a concern but this is largely dependant on how Ralph views Vokins and Valery. Bednarek and Stephens have formed a decent partnership but Vestergaard isn't good enough. I think if Salisu coming in that could be a great purchase but a Yoshida replacement would be well-received as well. Obviously a PEH replacement is needed - also potential to look at Reed for depth? It seems like Ralph isn't interested in Slattery for the time being. I'm surprised nobody is mentioning a player on the left wing - Redders hasn't performed quite as well as he did last year and IIRC Djenepo favours playing on the right wing And of course if Ings is gets injured... Ultimately I think in addition to KWP and Salisu a CM is the key (In the mold of Keita as mentioned earlier) If now is not the time for Sims or Reed to make inroads into the first team you have to really think about moving them on.
  17. The new album Jump Rope Gazers by Kiwi band The Beths, their first album is one of my favourites and I would strongly recommend them. If you like indie / power pop like Alvvays, Teenage Fanclub, Weezer or Courtney Barnett you can't go wrong with them.
  18. Hi all, new here, lurked for a while but finally made an account probably 6 months ago - typical it finally gets approved by the admins now there's no actual football to talk about. Anyway I thought it was alright but definitely stretched out too long considering half of it was archived footage. Also thought the messaging was a bit confused - when the end of the first episode was meant to be serious about alcoholism even though the first half of it was more or less a booze up billed as the lads on tour.
