There’s no question we need to keep Che & Tella. Tella and Che’s value to us this season outweighs selling Che next week for a quick £12m when we’ve sold for nearly £150m. Both their goals tally they have proven to achieve in this division take us back to the EPL. If ArmA finds his championship goal scoring form, or even just consistent performances like today, we’ll be close if not top of the pile with midfield and defensive additions.
-
Travesty if Che goes. I know he’s worth £12m odd, but he’ll get us a 30 goal haul this season, that’d take us back to the EPL and that’s worth far more to the club, surely?
-
Come on lads, need 7pts from 3! Need a wee sweetener, a wee statement to attract those top-tier Championship players that we’re on a promotion push before this summer window shuts!
-
I thought I remember reading this - I’m still waiting for something to happen
-
Surely we must be a better proposition than an Belgian Pro League side with little to no European football, or maybe we aren't anymore to some folk, but I still feel like we're still a good team to showcase any talent you might have, if you're looking for a move to a big side in the future - we're at least proven not to stand in the way of folk if such a possibility of a move arises. Vincent Kompany obviously thought Burnley in the Championship was a far better option for his career than Anderlecht in the Belgian Pro. If Onuachu couldn't do it, and it seems ALOT of folk on here were dying to get Tall Paul to sign, then Paintsil probably ain't going to be a big loss either.
-
How much are they hoping to take him back for? Do you reckon we’d be struggling to get even half back of our £15/16m? We’re obviously going to have to subsidise his wages too, but the £k’s we’d save on paying his weekly wage for doing nout could go towards another player.
-
Move on! If he’s already dubious about the move, just stay clear of him. Reiterated it before, we only want folk who want to wear the shirt, if he’s not excited about a move to a top English team with proven pathways for players whom perform well to bigger and better things, then that’s his loss and not ours. Sell Genk Onuachu back for £10m, take the loss and move on from this “swap deal” - plenty of others more than capable than him and Paintsil, Onuachu is offering us f**k all every week, reinvest the money towards a new Forward/Winger that wants to help Saints push back to the Prem other than sitting on their arse collecting a paycheck each week.
-
The guy has the potential to be a star for us in this league, could put up a huge total of assists and goals if he put his mind on the job in hand, but i’m assuming he’s downed tools. Shame, but we don’t want folk around that don’t want to be here and he’s obviously one of those now clearly.
-
Could have a couple of rapid Ghanaian wingers if Sulemana’s mind is at the club. Let’s hope they’re decent pals and could convince him to stay, could devastate the Championship attacking-wise, Sulemana LW, Tella AM, Paintsil RW. Onuachu would certainly be good to move on, no doubt eating up a large chunk of wage and offering us nothing now it seems. Any chance we could move on Djenepo and Aribo from our midfield too?
-
Martin better rip through this squad tonight, no questions. Unacceptable, period, if we want to be going back upwards rather than down the leagues.
-
Deflated now. I don’t think it’s just the fans that need some feel good from an opening win, these players do too! It doesn’t feel like it’s going to materialise now, hate this feeling, needed a lift! 😩
-
We need to give him a wee rise if he wants to stay - he could well be our ticket back to the top, a goal haul like his last season would be invaluable!
-
Edozie is exciting me tonight. We seen glimpses of it in the Premier League last year. He could be a star this season if this first half is anything to go by!
-
Oh, I didn’t realise Leicester lost so many already!
-
I see so many stories about all the below definitely going to be leaving us this summer, like, no doubt in these folks’ minds; JWP, Lavia, Alcaraz, Onuachu, Sulemana, Lyanco, Livramento, ABK, Adams, KWP, Salisu, DCC & Perraud. Already seen Ely & Walcott out the door & Orsic bid accepted, are we really going to see 16 out and another 16 in as replacements, surely not, surely a bunch of those are staying? I’m not seeing the same mass exodus’ from Leeds or Leicester, well, not yet. I mean, some of the above have got to stay, right? There’s only five weeks until the start of the season.

Nicolas Jackson on his way to Chelsea, scoring 11 in 12 after his injury comeback. He could have been a great piece of business after all in January..

Relegation - What two teams do we take with us
GDog07 replied to Lee On Solent Saint's topic in The Saints
I’d reckon Forest and Everton would be the two teams that would most likely be a financial mess if they got relegated. -
Pinch me

1-1. It’s going to be the hope that kills me yet again, come on boys, we need this!
-
T’was the hope of finally seeing us poke our head above the relegation zone into 16th after months of being reluctantly resigned to relegation that’s killing me. C’mon lads, please!
-
I want to get excited, such a massive chance now to rub salt in their 7-0 wounds, but I remember how we managed against Wolves at Home down to 10 🥲🫣
-
Hahahaha. Thought I’d flick it on and see how we do to get back into it in the Second Half, being 1-0 down. 2-0, that’s enough for me.
-
Bodes well for cruising the championship next year. I haven’t watched the game, forgot it was on until now. I suppose the lack of interest stems from expecting to lose every week currently. I was massively positive about this game however, putting EPL form aside, at least have expected us to be a goal or two to the good against a League Two team by HT especially at home. Sad state of our club currently - we aren’t bouncing back next year based on this season and tonights’ performance against such lower league opposition, nobody knows where the net is, it’s depressing.
-
Selles made the same substitutions after 60mins against Chelsea, as if they’re pre-planned, stinks of not reading the situation of the game. Took Sulemana, Onuachu & Stu Armstrong off against Chelsea after 60mins. Done the same today after 60mins. Replaced them with Mara, Walcott and Adam Armstrong v Chelsea, Mara, Walcott and Diallo v Leeds. Replacing our most attacking players that we’ve just spent £40m+ on and replacing them with Walcott, Diallo and Mara, especially against Leeds in a must win when it was still 0-0, what’s going on? Pre-planned obviously, but change the fucking plan to adapt to how the game is progressing when you’re needing a goal to win the game. Criminal.
