West Ham are apparently in for him, so maybe not a done deal. All the Kyle Walker-Peters experts on here may get their wish on him not joining as they have written him off already.
-
We need to as well to make sure we show the ticket office we can sell out this type of allocation for future games. The league cup games against Arsenal in the past we have sold out circa 5K and I'm sure we can do the same for this one. This is in between the supposed "winter break" and also a lot of fans will not have been to the new ground.

Not sure why people are against this. Every time I've seen him play I have thought he has been decent and in the few premier league games he has played he has provided assists. He can play both flanks and if a loan to buy option it is a win win situation. January is always hard to buy players and if we made a punt on a player from Europe it could be another player we loan out for years. Hopefully this is a Bertrand type of loan.

No doubt Yoshida has been a loyal servant to us over the years, but I am not his biggest fan. He went from being fourth choice under Koeman (Fonte, Toby, Gardos before injury) to first choice and that is where it all went wrong defensively. Great guy and clearly loves Saints, but his lack of concentration over the years has led to many goals over the years and we should give him a nice send off and concentrate on getting a replacement in the Summer. I would 100% give Long a new contract though. He is the fastest he has ever been, wins more aerial duels than anyone this season and I would imagine he is a nightmare to play against. I know he doesn't score the goals he should, but he contributes in many other ways.

Reading into Ralph's comments and being a saints fan means being pessimistic, I think that was gearing us up to signing nobody in January. A change of form shouldn't deter you from signing players, as that is just standing still. We desperately need full back cover and if Bertrand gets injured we are knackered. Whilst Vokins scored against Huddersfield I wasn't overly impressed with him against poor opposition. Valery has been awful this season and cannot defend, so is again a poor back up for Cedric. I know people are dubious about Walker-Peters, but a loan option would a great signing with him being comfortable on both flanks. He got 3 assists in 6 league appearances last season too. It's obvious Gao hasn't got a pot to p*ss in and he must be loving the upturn in form, as it's less pressure to spend money. Bloody mug

I don't understand this logic for the Liverpool tickets. Take the full allocation and only sell to season ticket holders, membership plus holders and members. More than enough fans before going on general sale.

This tweet seriously wound me up. They clearly don't have a clue what the fans are saying or writing on forums and social media platforms. I've not seen so many people complaining about away allocations before. For some bizarre reason we have always taken a snall allocation to Chelsea, but the Palace and Leicester allocations are an absolute farce.
-
The allocation for away games this season has been appalling. They have no idea about fan demand. It also makes us look like we have an awful away following, when we don't. Seeing the away end at Leicester was embarrassing, when would have sold out 3000-3200 full allocation.

Bryan would be an awful signing in my opinion. He has a decent cross on him, but that is about it. Can you imagine if we had him LB and Cedric RB, would be the smallest full backs in the league. Teams already target Cedric every game with his lack of height. Walker-Peters would be an excellent loan with an option to buy. He can play both flanks and i've been impressed by him when I have seen him play for Spurs.

Our style of play is set up for pressing and hitting teams on the counter. Normally the onus is on the home team to create and have possession, which is why our away form is so good and it plays into our hands. At home it is expected that the home team has the possession and has the away team sits deep. We are not set up to break down teams and have the possession. We have pace on the break and not a lot of creativity to break teams down. City and Liverpool are the only teams that can hit on the counter and break teams down. Luckily confidence is high and we should see an improvement at home, but you only have to look at the Palace game to see how hard it was for us to break them down up until the last 15 minutes when the game was more open.

I thought he had his best game of the season on Saturday, he was excellent along with the whole team bar PEH. Even though he played well we still need competition at right and left back and I'm sure Cedric will be off in a free in the Summer and I would make RB a priority this window and not just a loan, but the long term RB option.

The premier league is so popular if we didn't sell out, we can easily send tickets back and clubs like Liverpool would snap them up to sell in the Anfield Road end to home fans.
-
Yes, this is a massive issue and also another sign that the club is massively out of touch with the fan base. Apart from Newcastle, Burnley perhaps Everton and City, I would imagine we would sell out most allocations. Any games in the Premier League south of Birmingham will sell out. We have a large following from Saints fans up North and they tend to mainly go to away games, which is understandable. The allocations for Chelsea, Leicester, Palace and Liverpool are massive mistakes from the club.

Went there 2005 I think, Jamie Redknapp even scored I remember. Nothing around the ground though

Yes please. I'm not a paying member, but can email me on james.alex.white@gmail.com if the ticket is still available. Cheers, James

Thanks, just emailed

If any season ticket holders are not planning on going and willing to let me use their season ticket numbers to get a couple of tickets, please let me know. I need a couple of extra tickets.

Excellent performance and defensive display. Bednarek and Stephens were absolute rocks winning every header and also anticipating danger. JWP has turned into a influential centre mid who actually wins the ball. A couple of years ago he was weak and would bottle challenges, huge credit to him. Don't need to mention Ings, he is amazing right now and looks like he will score with every chance. Ralph's subs were on point yesterday too. What's more impressive with regards to the recent run is that we have stuck to the same keeper, back four and centre midfield during that period. Brilliant energy levels throughout the period and this is down to fitness levels. Up the saints!

I guess there will be zero investment in January. Gao hasn't got any money and won't invest a penny. Loans are the only option, as nobody will buy any of our current crop of players who are not in the first team picture. Bleak future ahead.
-
Couldn't agree more. He contributed without scoring at the start of the season and then got dropped. I think there is a good player in there and Ralph is slowly introducing him back into the first team. Hopefully he get's a goal off the bench this weekend!
-
Right back and Centre back are a must. I know the model is to buy young, but I feel we need a relatively experienced centre back to make sure we see out games without hanging on and having a bit of game management. Cedric is absolutely pathetic and needs to be sold in January. Valery isn't good enough defensively, but good going forwards. The attack is strong enough and I don't feel needs addressing.
-
It was so predictable that as soon as Carroll was introduced we would crumble. It happened the first year back when Fonte pulled his ponytail and continues to happen every year. He is always going to win the first header, so make sure you win the second ball. You could say that is encouraging that we create chances, but when this happens on a regular basis then it becomes worrying and a habit. The next two games are massive, but we need to drop Cedric ASAP.
-
There has been so many, but I remember in 2005 when Marcus Bent scored for Everton in the last minute. We conceded so many last minute goals that season and was one of many reasons why we went down. I knew we were down after that game even though we still had a few games to go.
-
We cannot go to three at the back. We need to drop Cedric and stick with the same formation and press from the front. It's the best way we can defend, we cannot invite pressure on the weak defence, but playing 3 at the back. Apart from dropping Cedric, I would probably drop Redmond for Boufal. I know he has a good impact from the bench, but deserves to start with recent performances.
-
Completely agree. We don't need to play 3 at the back. We need to defend from the front with pressing and commitment we showed on Saturday. Playing 3 at the back invites pressure on the feeble defence.
