I don't think tino is the issue. We were blunt up top, Broja has looked awful for a while. And Bednarek is poor defensively.
-
I think you are very much underrating Trippier there. He is absolutely class.
-
I said three players from Villa, Martinez, Coutinho and Konsa. But yeah, more players from the newcastle team get in than Villa. Since signing some great players in jan they have more top players than Villa do.
-
A combined 11 would be a 433 so Bruno Romeu and JWP would play. Yes, Trippier is better than Tino, he's one of the best rightbacks in the world, England regular starter, and just won the spanish league. Tino is good but Trippier is next level. Wood over Broja who has been poor for a while now. He had a hot streak but has scored 1 goal and 0 assists in 8 league starts.
-
He's not their star striker, he's their second choice after Wilson. Their second choice was £30m.
-
Signing someone in january is pointless for us as we will get better deals in the summer and were stuck midtable so no reason to spend big. Newcastle had to stay up and have the sort of money where £100m is pennies to them.
-
You'll get a lot of this. People will say Eddie Howe did this and not the backing of the Saudi Government spending £100m in Jan.
-
We aren't owned by a literal state with billions in disposable income... Newcastle are going to be the new Chelsea, we should get used to losing to them.
-
I would take Bruno, Burn, and Trippier in a heartbeat.
-
Burn, Bruno, Wood, Trippier probably on current form. And then a few existing players too.
-
Newcastle were a poor side. They have spent the most money in europe since then and are now no longer a poor side.
-
Newcastle beat Villa too...
-
Just not at it today, bit of bad luck at times but that happens. Newcastle, predictably, won using £75m or so of Jan transfers scoring the goals, Ralph was right to complain. It's a completely different team post saudi money.
-
Bit annoying it will prevent signings pre-Summer but will probably be able to deal after that. Was hoping Broja and/or Anjorin could have a deal organised in advance.
-
I'll admit I thought Alli would do well here. Maybe Ralph would have done a better job of whipping him into shape but he looks abysmal so far. Bullet dodged.
-
He certainly lost some elements of the dressing room. Him and Digne had a bust up causing him to leave in Jan, for instance. Also some of Richarlisons comments regarding James seem like he wasn't Rafas biggest fan. Losing the fans was a big blow though, I agree.
-
Would that be this season or next season?
-
Happens. Jose Mourinho seems to lose pretty much every dressing room he manages now and he is one of the most accomplished and widely regarded coaches of the modern era. Sometimes players like an easy person to blame when the results aren't going their way, and it's especially easy when your scummy fans have been sending death threats to the new guy before he has managed his first game.
-
Would be fantastic. I think if they go down they'll be in a lot of trouble with their massive wage bills and lack of relegation clauses. Could be fireworks.
-
True true. Everton job was kind of a win win for him. The club on the other hand are probably going down due to drastic mismanagement
-
Lost the dressing room earlier than most, losing the fanbase does that. I think if he was generally well liked they would have kept him in to turn things around when injuries subsided. Instead they replaced him with a manager 10% the talent and now are probably getting relegated. Not that it bothers me too much, be funny if they went down.
-
Should have, it was one of the main reasons he struggled there, alongside injuries. Fans hated him from the get go. Doubt he makes that mistake again.
-
Doubt it, he's a Liverpool legend.
-
It's because Howe was the go to replacement for the anti-Ralph posters. Because we aren't dead bottom of the table with Ralph sacked after 15 games like some predicted then it's hard to be anti Ralph right now so being pro-Howe is a decent alternative. The problem is it requires takes like "Newcastles turn around is due to Howe and not spending the most money in europe". But one of his players was positive about him so I guess that's the case...
