  1. It's rare that we actually compliment the staff behind the scenes but I think it is worth acknowledging how well Wilson has done with these two deals. Targett for 14-17m and Adams for 15m is ridiculously good business. Lets hope he continues in this vein, talk of Austin for 10m also sounds very hopeful.

17m for Targett and 16m for Adams seems like an insane bit of business to me. I mean he could flop but on the face of it selling a 2nd choice 23 year old LB and getting a first choice 22 year old striker and making 1m looks very very good.
  3. Gunna be a lot more than that now considering the other sides interested. Probably closer to 20m and therefore way beyond our means for a back up player.
  4. Where are you hearing this? Can't find any evidence anywhere, or are you just speculating?

If he still has clients he wouldn't be "retired" at all, semi or otherwise. Maybe when he says he is semi retired he means he has no active clients but still practices in an advisory role or as a go between or something. Those wouldn't require registering with the Fa. Don't know to be honest with you, only had a quick flick through the twitter.

Seems to have a good number of followers and got a couple of stories right recently like Clarke to Brighton, aribo to rangers etc. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  8. Wouldn't be so sure of that, we are linked with a couple still, some of which originating after the djenepo signing. Also the telegraph article has Boufal leaving as well as Elyounoussi. That only leaves djenepo sims jwp and Armstrong for the wider roles as redmond will likely play in a front 2, I'd say we could do with another. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk

Weird how he was discussing transfer fees and you are discussing wages. Feels like apples and oranges to me as one comes with a negative incentive to how long they stay and the other arguably has a positive incentive as the money is already sunk. Also it was clearly addressed why Adams is a decent signing with being young, English, and a top scorer in the championship. None of that is remotely comparible to any of the people you listed. Two of which are contract extentions. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk

  11. I'd say: Gunn Vestergaard bednarek new cb Valery Hoj lemina bertrand JWP Adams redmond With djenepo rotating with JWP when we need more pace and Ings or djenepo coming in for one of the cbs (depending on attacker we are playing against) when we need to hit a 4222 to break down a tougher side Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  12. When people make these lists they always go missing at the end. It's like they have looked at the list and need it to be longer so just clutch at straws. Lemina is a great player with an injury which he will hopefully recover from over the summer and Cedric has been a key fixture of our defence for years, he may not be amazing but he is a firm servant and has done important things for the club.
  13. Honestly, I'm pretty happy with that. Three players being considered so essential that we get them no matter what but then remainder depends on cutting the squad. If we signed like 7 players without making any sales our wage bill would be absolutely insane, and if we signed no one without selling then we run the risk of running out of time. Signing 3 essentials and then only buying after selling seems like absolutely the right way to be doing our business. And, as has been pointed out by near enough everyone, those of you who think this because we don't have the money to raise transfer fees, I'd say that is pretty unlikely. The combined wages of Forster, Elyounoussi and Austin, none of whom often make our bench is more than that of Mo Salah, Raheem Sterling, or David De Gea. This is why selling 10 to bring in four is the way to go, big squads are super unsustainable.
  14. Maybe, I imagine the new guy will be Adams and they will compete for the position. Redmond will be up top for me though as support striker, we have far too many people for the two behind for redmond to be there Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  15. It'll be a signing to move to a 4222 with redders and a new striker up top and djenepo and JWP in the 2 behind. Probably with Armstrong boufal and maybe lookman providing competition for the 2 behind and obafemi and ings providing competition for the front lads. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  16. All very hype this morning. Links to Lookman, Adams and looks like we have Djenepo tied up, and for much cheaper than previously thought. Shame we won't get Augustin as I like that type of striker but those three plus redmond, jwp, ings and boufal should mean with have a goal in us now. Don't want any more than 3 new attacking players, as proven by Everton we'd have serious issues with gelling. Just need one really good cb and a competition rb to be sorted. Also to sell like 11 players (Stephens, hoedt, Forster, Targett, Reed, clasie, Elyounoussi, Austin, long, gallagher, cedric) So then we will have: Gunn Mccarthy Valery Bednarek Vestergaard bertrand New rb yoshida. New cb. Volkins Lemina Hojberg Romeu JWP JWP. Djenepo Lookman. Boufal/Armstrong Adams redmond Ings. Djenepo/boufal/obafemi Good depth there, could maybe do with lb competition too. 17. I think that only 3 sides out of 20 have signed anyone so wouldn't worry yet. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  18. You should hint who they are in a super cryptic way which won't let us know now (lest you be rumbled by the powers that be) but that will be obvious in hindsight, that way when it comes off we can all be like "ahhhh, my man called it" and you can enjoy a full summer of being taken fully seriously.
  19. People's standards are far too high. Our player of the season got 6 prem goals. For reference, an actual 10 goal attacking mid for a club of our size is zaha and he is being valued at 100 million. Boufal got 3 goals and 3 assists. If we can add another goal and a assist or two he will be a very acceptable Premier league asset. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  20. Also, just to correct the record. Those of you discussing things like income tax, national insurance contribution, VAT or any other personal tax. Those don't apply as the person pays there personal tax in the country of residence. Only corporation tax is paid in the country the corporation is based. It's why most big companies, even ones originating from the UK, have their CEO's based in the personal tax havens. So to reiterate, rich people live in personal tax havens and stimulate their economy with the money, but base their companies here because we are one of the worlds foremost business tax havens.
  21. We have the 4th lowest corporation tax in Europe, only behind Ireland, Iceland and Hungary. And we have quite a lot more embedded resources than them. Other countries like Germany and France with our level of infrastructure have tax rates almost double ours (34% and 30% respectively to our 19%). And that's not even including the mad amount of tax loopholes we have which can be easily exploited, ones which the government delib keeps open. After the recession the tories made us completely bend over to business and screwed the worker with austerity. 24. Hard really to say he is easily as good a player when Boufal has played in the top leagues in France, England, and now Spain whereas Andrade is only doing well in the English 4th tier. Not saying you are wrong but it is a hell of a step up. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk

    AGunn

I mean, it's a good point, some players go sideways but barring a major injury the effect of playing regular premier league football is atleast very likely to improve him. Especially considering that last season was his first season of regular first team football. I could be wrong, and I'm sure there are exceptions (normally due to a massive drop in confidence or aging) but I think it is worth the chance. This is likely a similar reason as to why RH has been starting and putting faith in Valery even though when he first came in he looked proper shaky and Cedric was the safe bet.
