  1. I agree, and if we are to improve it will be with steady steps in the right direction with a constant manager at the helm who has a clear philosophy and way of playing. We have that now, we just have to sign a decent wingback and central midfielder in Jan, scrape 15th-17th, and continue the slow rebuild in the summer. It's a marathon not a sprint.
  2. Why wouldn't he? It's not exactly a competitive league this year, a couple of teams look dreadful. If spending 30m or so in Jan keeps us up it would be massively worth it financially. I know you want to have a moan but this level of self pity is pretty pathetic.
  3. How can you say it i an utterly pointless comparison and then immediately compare them? That's insane. Either way, I think Hasenhuttl is a fine manager with a rubbish team, at this point we just have to hope we do well in the jan market. Sacking RH would be shooting ourselves in the foot.
  4. Adams must be abysmal in training.
  5. Id stick with Gunn as none of the goals were directly his fault. Would be good if Djenepo was back to be honest. My team now has to be Gunn Cedric vest bednarek yoshida danso Romeu Hoj Djenepo ings redmond As those are the only options we really have. We don't have another cm or lb to drop our major underperformers and I think that cb arrangement is best for us Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  6. Valery is no issue really, part of our game plan is to have him hoof it up the line. It misses about 75% of the time but when it finds Ings he can really do some damage. Low success rate, high reward passing is a key part of Hasenhuttl's strategy. The same is broadly true of our cbs. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  7. He is an excellent manager with an ok squad, somewhat underperforming. Last week we should have beat Bournemouth by all stats and didn't because we couldn't finish. A manager can't help that. This week against spurs we were away against a top 6 side and were very close to leaving with a point, owing mainly to a goalkeeping error. Again a manager can't help that. We just have to keep faith, stop moaning, get a comfortable 9th-14th finish which we are well on track for and try to sign a good rb and cm in the summer and lose our tonne of dead weight. Then we should be back to competing for top 8.
  8. Dunno quite how advisable it is to play someone at 10 whos biggest weakness is arguably passing. Or to play Danso oop, or to drop Redmond, our player of the season last year.
  9. 343 I'd imagine now with JWP at rwb Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  10. Oh yeah, he's been excellent so far Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  11. No fresh injury concerns apparently but now Djenepo is being called a "long term injury", real shame that. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  12. You literally mentioned Ings and bertrand in your comment. In fact in your list you only mentioned one midfielder as well as three forwards and a defender. This is one of the most embarrassing back peddles I have ever seen. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  13. The ability of some of our fans to appraise the quality of our players (and that of other teams in the league) is laughable sometimes. We don't have a single player in our first 11 who isn't capable of starting for atleast one other prem team. Most of our team would start for most of the bottom half of the table comfortably. That means it is PL calibre. Also what is this list, it includes Djenepo and Ings who have had 2 good games this season each and misses out our best players. Redmond is an excellent player and would start for anyone outside the top 6 (and probably united nowadays, definitely better than Lingard), as is Bednarek. JWP too is comfortably prem quality. Gotta assume from that list that you have been a fan for all of 5 games, judging by how ridiculously short term that list is, and if so, welcome!
  14. My bold lineup for this one would be: Gunn Vestergaard Bednarek Danso Cedric Romeu JWP Bertrand Adams Ings Redmond With Boufal coming on for a cb if we need a goal. If Djenepo is fit he may compete with Adams. As has been said previously, I think Hoj could do with a rest and JWP looked good in midfield. To those drawing conclusions that Yosh or McCarthy should start based on pompey, bare in mind they are a pretty rubbish league 1 side so a clean sheet doesn't mean much. Further, on set pieces we looked very shakey when the ball was tossed into the box and I think Gunn claims the ball better than McCarthy and Vest clears better than Yosh. Also McCarthy nearly let in an absolute howler at his near post when Marquis shot from range. Luckily it hit the post but his positioning was dire.
  15. People like to be negative about new signings, his only game at cb (or part of a game) he kept a clean sheet and got an assist. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  16. Yoshida is behind vestergaard and Danso, and for good reason, there is a reason why 7 consecutive managers have not made him a first choice starter, this forum just way overrates him. Keep faith with vestergaard and fall back to 3 atb with danso, that's when we look best. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  17. Yes, but we will have teams like Brighton, Sheffield, Burnley at home. We will admittedly have big teams like Liverpool away but we won't be expected to beat them in either so it's kind of a moot point. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  18. I think it will be important for all involved to be realistic. So far we have only played one non top 6 side at home and now we have this death run. The second half of the season will be much easier. I already feel like people are freaking out with talk of our "weak home form" after 2 of our 3 home games being against Liverpool and United. We have 7 points from 6 games, that has us on for about 45 points a season. That is the same point total Puel got to bring us 8th. Just remain calm, remember comfortable mid table finishes imply atleast a few losses against teams of Bournemouth size, and try not to panic. We should be fine. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  19. I'd play a 3421 as that has been our most reliable formation so far. Have jwp back at wingback and play Gunn Danso vestergaard bednarek JWP Romeu Hoj bertrand Adams Ings boufal If we had redmond or djenepo I would drop bertrand, have danso at lb and play a 433 with JWP in the 3 man midfield Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
  20. Not really. In a 3421 the wing backs are expected to be a large source of attacking threat. In a 4231 the fullbacks tend to stay more defensive thus making us less vulnerable down the wings. On the most part the compressed 3 cbs does make us stronger through the middle. Neither is more defensive than the other really, they have different defensive strengths and weaknesses. I'd say moving to a 4231 would be good as we were often beaten by long diagonals aimed at our left back position floating over vestergaards head, to which he was somewhat unfairly blamed regardless of him being exposed by lack of fullback or wingback and having to guard a lot of pitch. 21. Which one can be dropped though? Redmond is our best player, Boufal is in insane form, and dropping Djenepo after his last couple of performances would be incredibly harsh.
  22. Boufal has to play again, as does Djenepo. If Redmond is fit I would have: Gunn Valery Bednarek Danso Bertrand Romeu Hoj Djenepo Boufal Redmond Adams Dropping Vestergaard as Bournemouth have some real pace up top and I think Danso's pace will be more of an asset. For me our front 4 picks itself at the moment, but gotta feel a bit for JWP and Ings as neither has played that badly. Would have JWP on the right and Djenepo on the left if Redmond is injured still. I think Boufals best role is central.
  23. I want to see a 4231 for this finally. Boufal is so much better centrally in a free 10 role, and JWP did his best work last season on the right of the 3 while being encouraged to cut in (admittedly this was in a 343 front 3). My team is: Gunn Valery Vest Bednarek Bertrand Romeu Hojberg JWP Boufal Djenepo Adams McCarthy, Yoshida, Cedric, Armstrong, Long, Obafemi, Ings With Ings coming on for Adams if he is looking ineffective at half time.
  24. At fault for the goal I'd say, also poor crossing. Personally would revert back to Valery.
  25. I don't think we can drop the bednarek vestergaard partnership after that game. Keep danso at lb or go to 3 atb. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
