Pretty sure Valery is first choice rb and has been out with a virus Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk

Less high profile big money flops than us, still here on massive wages. Players like lemina, Forster, Elyounoussi, hoedt are on higher wages likely than most people in Burnleys team and we can barely give them away. When people discuss netspend they rarely consider the wage bill which is the actual killer. consider we pay the 4 previously mentioned about 14m a year between them that's where our money goes. I think people are assuming that any player leaving must be replaced like for like. We have heard multiple times that Ralph likes to work with a small squad (approx 20 players) I assume next season will b 1)Mccarthy 2) Gunn 3) valery 4) new rb 5) bednarek 6) Stephens 7) vestergaard/new cb Bertrand 9) new lb 10) jwp 11) romeu /new cm 12) hoj 13) redmond 14)Armstrong 15) djenepo 16) Adams 17) ings 18) obafemi 19) boufal or boufal replacement 20) Danso or youth team step up That means if we sell no one on that list we only need a new lb and a new rb. I expect us to sell romeu and vestergaard, maybe Adams and Boufal which would leave us needing a max of 6 signings. The people quoting 8 or 9 signings are either assuming we'll have another mass first team exodus or that we are happy with the huge bloated squad we have at the moment. In the future a squad like ours will have positions like 4th striker, 4th cb, and 4th cm played by youth. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk

Out of favour player, injuries stalled his career, not getting a look in at a big side, the forum writing him off before he has played. Sounds like Danny Ings to me. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk

If its all guess work then why did you assume the reason we would choose Adams and kwp over augustin and maehle is lack of money? Especially when you have no proof the latter cost more than the former and quite a lot of evidence to the contrary. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk

Not sure this logic makes sense at all. If we didn't have "a pot to **** in" then why would we not sell Adams for the reported 20m and get JKA for the cheaper reported 18m. Secondly, the most I've ever seen Maehle valued at is 12m and the least I've seen KWP valued at is 12m. So actually in both cases we are going for the more expensive option. Maybe the guy who plays in a vastly inferior league and the guy who can't get in to a poor monaco team are a little overrated on here? Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk

Not thrilled about this, but the last signing I wasn't thrilled about was Danny Ings and I was super excited for Vestergaard, Hoedt, and Carillo so I'm going to reserve judgement this time.

Che is a great deal younger than Carillo and, given massive inflation in the market, was bought for considerably less money than him. Che is clearly a prospect for the future that we feel we can develop into a good player, Carillo was clearly supposed to be the finished article and to get us goals immediately, which he didn't do. Google betrayed me for the league, yes it seems like he did get one assist. And yeah, he hasn't played many games but is it not concerning he can't get games at a club who is 4 places lower than saints at a league that is much worse than the prem? He did well in a cup game but that's it. I think there is a reason JKA is going to a championship side for 11m as a striker who is 22, he really can't be that great, especially since Leeds offered almost double thay for Che. To be honest, it may be a grass is always greener thing, Augustin did not have a good time in France in a league many average Premier league players have thrived in and his value has dropped through the floor since we were interested so maybe he was a bit overrated when we were looking at him. He also has 0 goals and 0 assists this season in a much easier league and is struggling to get in to a team languishing down in 13th. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk

Mooy's fine, but JWP does a similar job to him but better. Also JWP has the advantage of his dead-ball ability and is 5 years younger.

It's probably a bargaining position start high and meet in the middle. Problem with lemina is we said we wanted to recoup the original fee as a starting position, the other clubs came back with something outlandishly low as a response and we weren't willing to meet in the middle as we believed he was better than money we would get for him and a season doing well on loan would raise his stock. Like how clubs were allegedly offering to take Forster for £3m last summer and we held out as we believed him to be better than that and he has had a great spell at celtic and his value is being touted at £10m. Just because a player is of no use to us and would not start for us doesn't mean we should immediately sell, often having another club pay their wages and start them putting them in the shop window for us is a win win. I read somewhere that Wilson went for like 3 months this season without a shot on target, has been dire. Greenwood can't even get on the pitch for this dire United team, if Ings has those two as competition being the leagues second top scorer then he has it in the bag. Ings has to start with tammy, rashford and kane out, there simply aren't any other options that come close. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk

Why? We are almost certainly safe we might as well do our business when we have time to find the right deals for us in and out. We are not desperate anymore. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk

The amount people underrate redmond on this forum is insane. He is one of our best and most important players in turning defence into attack and works as hard as anyone else. He is obviously going to score and assist less when on the wing in a 442 than when he played in a front 3/front 2. But he does just as much for the team in that position. I want to give Adams a run as much as anyone as he has far more potential than Long but against a team tired from midweek having Longs pace to run them all over the pitch will do a lot of favours Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk

Don't forget Hoedt! I imagine we will get someone over the summer but for the next few months Stephens, Bednarek, Yoshida, Vestergaard and Danso is probably fine.
-
I'd imagine the Vestergaard loan falling through ment it wasn't neccesary to sign a cb now and that we can wait for the summer. I don't see an issue with this personally, the market will be better in the summer. Bring in a cover lb and a competitive rb and I think we are fine.

Kicker says Pongracic has signed Wolfsburg for under 10m euros. Shame if we missed out on a long term target. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk

Have you considered being a little more concise in your writing?

What makes you say that? Can't find any news stories confirming this.

Maybe the club see Obafemi as the future partner to Ings. It has been pointed out before that we prefer to play with one more central striker who can pass, hold up, and score a load of goals (Ings/Adams) and one quick, athletic striker who can drift all over the place, run the channels, and basically make a nuisance of himself drawing men off the man in the middle (Long/obafemi). Which one player would be the worst to lose to injury now?
TWar replied to norwaysaint's topic in The Saints
Ings and its not even close. Discounting him probably Bednarek/Stephens, Bertrand or JWP as those are the positions we don't have a decent replacement in. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk -
Both Adams and Ings got a number of preseason friendlies to impress and Adams looked better, it is significantly harder to impress and displace a well-performing player mid-season. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
