I've never been so stressed in my life. I think we might do this! Italy are favourites but anything can happen!

Thats what I was trying to work out, does Lemina have writing tattooed on his left calf? And has he got blond dreads now?

Different skills to Che by the looks of things. A lot smaller and less powerful than Che, weaker too, but looks quicker and a better finisher. Hopefully they will compliment eachother nicely as Che does best when he has a fast player to latch onto his through balls.

Wearing number 15 in training for those who care about such things. 3 might go the Williams.

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
TWar replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
He is their player, it's fine for them to wish him well. They didn't explicitly say they wanted him to win or England to lose, they just passed on sporting best wishes to an employee. The reaction to this from people saying "but what about England" is what is really embarrassing. I've never seen so many people get wound up by something that matters so little. -

Striving for relevance. Pompey fans haven't supported an even remotely relevant team in over a decade, they are pathetically small scale. In order to still feel important they live vicariously through us by obsessing about us and rooting against us as a way of still having stake in football at a higher level. -

Because he is one of their players and is employed by the club... It's pretty obvious if you think about it. -

There's something very embarrassing and smalltime about comparing Mount for them to Vestergaard for us, as if having a top player support you as a kid is the same as having one play for you right now. They are like "pompey aren't posting about Mount" and it's like, why would they? Some absolute melts with regards to this tweet anyway, team wishes their player good luck, big deal. -
Yeah agreed! Especially with Ings leaving.

Well that's because Adams is a second striker and Pelle was a dedicated 9 in a 4231, we didn't play two up top with Pelle. You know "second striker" is a role right? I'm not just making that up. Also Adams goal contributions this season (14 g+a) is level with Pelle in 14/15 despite playing almost 600 fewer minutes. The following season Pelle was more prolific with 18 g+a (even though he scored less goals) but the quality round him with Mane, Tadic, Bertrand et al. was elite. And one player doesn't deserve the credit for a teams finishing position, the same could have be said about Cedric who was objectively poor. We got those good finishes primarily due to our insane defence who conceded 2nd and 5th least goals in the league in consecutive seasons, plus Mane who kicked in a hell of a lot for a winger, Tadic who was the leagues second best assister, and a mental midfield of Scheinderlin and Wanyama. Pelle's returns of 11 goals and 12 goals were decent but not "guide you to 6th/7th in the league" decent.

Danjuma's pricetag has been widely reported as about £20m I suspect Ings will go for £20-25m, Vest will go for £15-20, Armstrong will come in for about £15m and Danjuma about £20m which will leave anywhere between 0 and £10m to replace Vestergaard and that sum will depend if we get a back up/loan or someone who can push for first team football.
-
People used to criticise Pelle because he was wildly inconsistent. Like in 2014/15 where he went 14 games (4 months) without a goal or assist. He scored 6 goals in his first 8 games and then only 6 more in his next 30 that season. Same the following year, he scored 5 goals in his first 8 games and then again only six in the remaining 30 games. He had a horrible habit of starting strong and then crashing around december. He was good but lets not rewrite history, Saints fans had every reason to be critical.

The idea is, as Ings and Vest are likely to leave, we are requiring a massive rebuild this summer including a new starting LB, starting/backup CB, attacking mid, starting forward, two back up fullbacks, and a back up forward (a lot of fans would like a GK too but that's seeming less and less likely). That might take a lot of cash so if we can get a decent loan or two in to cover a couple of those roles (Brandon can cover both back up fullbacks) then we can spend the money more prudently on the bigger issues and deal with more minor issues like our back up fullbacks down the line when we don't have so much on our plate.

Phenomenally two footed in all the best ways, uses two feet to dribble more effectively, can quickly adjust his stance to change how the ball approaches him, and has power in both feet not just accuracy. Looks very good from this. Would love to see him line up next to Adams, with Adams hold up play and passing and this guys pace a flexible finishing we'd really be on to something.

Positivity isn't "wetting our pants". He was in the L'equipes team of the season, excuse people for actually being excited and getting behind a player.
-
Hate it when people get behind our players...
-
Yeah, Brewster is probably another example, although technically moved from liverpool it was off the back of a successful championship spell. You just have to persist with players of that age and not put too much pressure on, I get the feeling palace will struggle with the latter.
-
Dunno, I'm with Rio on that one, you got to show a player outside in the box, you can't let them cut onto their favoured foot and shoot. Was a great shot admittedly though.
-
Belting signing for the future but adapting to the prem as a teenager from the championship is very tricky, remember Sessegnon. If they can stay up then he should develop but maybe won't have the initial impact they require with their ravaged squad and Eze out.
-
Nail on the head. We don't want to sell jwp therefore his value is what we deem it to be.
-
Setting up goals imo, we create very few chances for our strikers so a new attacking mid. Also goalkeeper, our GK's let in about 14 goals they shouldn't have (statistically) last season IIRC, that is a fairly big swing even if like 4 of them were vs United that one game. Those are the big two I'd say, along with an Ings replacement, then a back up fullback as we literally don't have a single one, then probably striker depth as Tella looks handy and Redmond is better than nothing.
-
If you would only take £1.4m for it, it is worth £1.4m. Sales are not a prerequisite for value. A players value is determined by their value to their team, if that differs from their value to other teams then their value doesn't become the other teams pricetag as he would never go for that, which is the definition of value - "how much you would have to pay to get them". Ask yourself, if Saints value a player at £40m and everyone else values him at £20m, is that player available at £20m? If no then that is not his value. Simple as that.
-
He's worth what we are willing to sell him for because that's what it would require for a sale to happen. If no one wants to buy him he just stays.

Ings is one of the best strikers in the premier league when fit, but owing to his fitness he is more a 13-15 goal forward than a consistent 20+. He is ahead of Armstrong definitely, even with fitness, but I think Armstrong seems a decent replacement, hopefully 10 goals is a reasonable prem target. On the other hand I think Danjuma is a mile ahead of Redmond and Walcott, from what I've seen of him. Just a much better footballer in every way. Either way if you aren't convinced by Armstrong and Danjuma I could equally have said Edouard and Peirera, my point was more generically selling Ings and Vestergaard and replacing them with Salisu and a cheaper CF will open up about £20m for an attacking mid which will help our balance immensely. I also think that Perraud is a big upgrade on what Bertrand was for us last season, where he was OK defensively but so lackluster going forward he made our entire attack lopsided.
-
Those three between them played about 1 full games worth of minutes between them last season, I don't think they need replacing if we replace Ings with a fitter forward. Our front two would be Adam Armstrong and Che with Tella and Redmond as depth and at a push we can put Walcott up top. Would be fine imo. Not the strongest but we have more pressing issues.
