I formally apologise for sharing unsubstantiated rumours. It was an error of judgement and having slept on it I have thought better of it. I urge anyone who read my comment before changing to disregard it as a dangerous rumour and wait for the official police report to be released.

Good point, done.

Yeah stick to the facts I guess. What we know: The mail has reported a footballer has been arrested for texting an underage girl They report the footballer is 31 They report that they are a regular international They report that the arrest occurred in the greater manchester area Everton have released a statement this morning saying they have suspended a first team player while allegations against them are investigated It is very likely who the footballer is but it is better admittedly if the mods remove posts that directly mention their name, including mine. Also, even if the person we think has been arrested that doesn't mean they did it. Need a fair trial first.

31 year old prem player has been arrested for child sex offences apparently. It is inappropriate to speculate as to who it is, see my later post.

Wouldn't trust the express one bit tbh

What do you mean by "pretend positions"? And odds checker has us as joint 7th favourite: 1) Norwich 2) Watford 3) Brentford 4) Palace 5) Burnley 6) Newcastle 7) Wolves =7) Us At about 5/1. Not ideal but certainly not third fav's for the drop. What bookie were you looking at as basically everyone has all three promoted sides as almost evens and palace at 2/1 at best whereas not one site has as any shorter than 4/1? I suspect the club is alluding to the idea of him staying to hold his value and will sell for about £20m if they need to. Doubt we sell beneath that though, might be better to have him for half a season and sell him for an inflated price in Jan to someone desperate.
-
Brighton in for Edouard. Would be a good signing imo. Would like to compete but they have the £50m White money to spend and whatever they get for Bissouma.
-
For a team who have repeatedly said we aren't looking for a midfielder we sure are linked with a lot of midfielders.
-
Yeah I think it will tbh. I think Ings is off and we will sign Armstrong to "play with him" then sell Ings and not replace him.
-
Sold Portugals first choice keeper and brought in a lad who didn't even make the squad, and it's not like he's an up and comer, he's 28. Mendes giveth and Mendes taketh away.
-
Don't agree with this. The only starter we've lost was Bertrand and he was pretty poor last year. I'm very hopefully Perraud is an upgrade. No one else we've lost should be anywhere near our first team. If Ings and/or Vest go then we'll need to replace well admittedly.
-
I really don't think Tella is very good at CAM. He was decent enough as a striker but I can't personally remember one game where he really excelled as a CAM. Our CAM's should be Armstrong and someone new or we will really struggle imo.
-
The plural of players is interesting. Obafemi and Long maybe, or Obafemi and Valery?
-
I suspect our first choice starting 11 will be: --------------------------------Macca------------------------------- -----------------Bednarek-------------------Salisu------------------ ---KWP---------------------------------------------------Perraud--- -------------------------Romeu-------JWP-------------------------- ------------Armstrong-------------------------NewPlayer----------- -----------------------NewPlayer------------Adams----------------------- With a bench of Forster, NewFullback, NewCB, Stephens, Diallo, Tella, Redmond, Walcott, Djenepo I'm sure I've missed someone too. Sales of Ings, Vestergaard, Elyounoussi, Lemina, and a couple more youngsters sold or loaned. Bringing in starting AM, starting striker (probably Armstrong), depth CB, and depth fullback.
-
He'll probably be demoted to 4th choice striker as Tella develops. But yeah, he was our first back up striker last season when Ings was out and played there over Adams a fair bit too so I think he probably is seen as mainly a striker now who played more than expected at AM due to the Walcott injury, a couple of Armstrong injuries, Minimino not hitting the ground running, and Djenepo being injured or poor most of the season. Also, as a striker he got 3 goals and 3 assists in 11 starts, which is actually pretty reasonable to be fair to him. Not going to start for us hopefully but can probably do a job and fill in when needed.
-
I think Redmond is probably seen as a striker and we will look for another attacking mid. Or A. Armstrong who apparently can play both roles and will alternate. Would be very surprised if we don't have reinforcements in that position come start of season.

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
TWar replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
I think there are plenty of players and managers in at mid table sides right now that are europa/CL quality: Grealish, Raphinha, Ings, Bissouma, White, Potter, Bielsa, Ralph, ect. You have to sign the right ones and Vestergaard is most certainly not that, and neither is Nuno imo. Then again, I said the same about Hojbjerg and they seem to like him so who knows. -

Spurs rejected by their main target, hope that triggers a panic buy for a certain lofty Dane. -
Really doesn't surprise me. I actually don't mind Hayden as a CM and Newcastle seem to really rate him but the combination of being over 23, being an already established premier league player at a similar sized club, and being a CM which Ralph has already said we aren't looking at really makes the rumour very unlikely.
-
"Some of his actions" implies that other things were going on behind the scenes. He looked like he had talent but if he is a disruptive influence and can't work towards the team then it's probably better we got rid.
-
Nah fuck that, their goal was lucky scrappy bollockz, and we almost took em, I'm hopeful mwte
-
We were so close. I'm proud of the lads, we played quality and its coming home. Bad luck on the pens but we did ourselves proud, love the lads, and we will get this. World Cup we are back on

Swap deals also get the better out of Newcastles 40% sell on. Means Blackburn keep more of the profit.

A bunch of our ITK's say we wanted Armstrong as well as Ings as he is flexible and we need the depth.
