Does anyone else not think/cannot link football to normal working situations? The scenario sounds to me. Poch has been offered 'terms' at Saints, he has (as people know) has heard of interest from another employer and he would like to investigate this interest (as any normal person would in the working world). Who's to say Spurs will offer him a deal, a level of investment, level of ambition which maybe we cant offer. OR he is offered a level as described previously and he comes back to southampton and asks if we can match it? If we cant he will go. Would you also not if you are offered a better wage, better investment account and arguably higher profile employer? I say this without my southampton glasses on and instead just the black and white of reality.

With the squads announced, friendlies coming up and only circa 20days from the competition starting lets get our scouting hats on and look at who would improve our team in key positions. I looked online for 'players to watch out for' and found the below link: http://www.espnfc.com/blog/_/name/thescoutsnotebook/id/398?cc=5739 From these atsu, omerou and Bernerd look interesting (and hopefully realistic). Any good players worth a punt in a few of the more unfashionable teams (Korea, United States etc).

So there's lots of stories in the media of who they think we're going to sell, most of which being our prizes players. However should you be in charge of the club and had to raise some funds who would be on your 'transfer list'. Mine would be as followed: -Jose fonte, great season but a player we need to improve should we want to get better. Cash in for 3million -Nathaniel clyne, very good player but fortunately were gifted with a second very good player in that position. Sell for 7million -Luke shaw, probably our biggest crown jewel but I'd rather sell him than AL as (I believe) left back is an easier position to replace. Would also provide us money for a decent shopping spree, sell 30million -dani oswaldo, obvious one really, bad influence although has obvious talent (would actually love him to turn it around), sell 7million That give us 47 million, throw in another 3 million and that's a 50million war chest. I won't speculate on players but that would give us circa , 20million for a world class striker, 10-15milliom for a class dental defender,, 10million on a left back, and 5million on right back cover.

My gillingham supporting mate has said it's been in their local papers of a season long loan for Sam Gallagher. Anyone else heard this, thought he was knocking quite loudly on the first teams door.

This point record vs the last | strachan vs MoPo

Nuts yes your right 2003 Christ seems so long ago now! I agree with what saying above, maybe expectation should be another category where 2003 would be the winner in terms of exceeding expectations. That puts the two eras at a draw! -

I apologize now for the bad iPhone spell check..... -
I was thinking today on the train what a season we had and it was amazing we have beaten out points total! Then I started thinking a bit more in depth about the deltas between the two and tried to think of the comparisons, similarities and differences: Squad: I can't remember exactly the 2008 squad but the spines were roughly last time round, neime, svennson, svensson?, beastie vs boruc, lovren, Spider-Man, lambert. U then had the flair players then, fabrice, vs lallana, and the work horses, marsden vs now davies. I think know one would argue our squad now is better. Score: then 0-1 now Fitness: starch and teams were always rebound for their fittness but the team now is probably one of the fittest I've known (constant high tempo) hard to choose so I'm going to have to say a draw: Score: then 1-2 now Running of the club: fairly obvious, even though Rupert at that time had got us the new stadium, got us our highest place finish he didn't invest in the team and we didn't push on. What's interesting now will Katrina push on or will she consolidate? If I could ignore everything that happened after with lower I could argue a draw especially with the not knowing what happens next with saints now. However I can't: Score: then 1:3 now Manager: star hen vs MoPo. Attach an had us playing good football with a more average team on a much tighter budget and without the facilities we have now. MoPo has us playing some of the most progressive attractive football I have seen but has had a lot of investment. Could he has age done the same with star hens squad? Arguably the hardest to contest but I am going to give it to Strachen Final score 2:3 Therefore a very good attacking game with the quality of the current team being the real difference. What do people think, have I missed any key catagories? I think others will have the knowledge and time to do a better squad vs squad analysis

Kasper Schmeical (spelling) anyone?
-
I would go for: --------------------------Hart----------------------- Clyne---------Cahill-----------Jagielka-----Bains ----------------Barry-----------Gerrard------------- Theo /Johnson-----Wiltshire------------Lallana ----------------------Rooney----------------------- With lambert on the bench

The Sun: Saints looking to sign Diego for 1.6m

Isn't Ramirez our play maker who is now starting to show a bit if what he can do? Would this guy come in to replace and let Ramirez move on, or to improve depth and replace someone like gully in the second 11? -
Is Lambert the only Saints legend since Le Tiss
ozzmeister replied to ozzmeister's topic in The Saints
Funnily enough I have remembers a similar thread I posted in 2009 on this topic - this was taken from FM where they note Legends and Icons, the one copied below is quite old. Has anyone got the latest: Legends - Lauri Mac, Le tiss, Strachan Icons - Keegan, Svensson, ****erill, H Holmes, Flowers, Bridge, D Jones, Shearer, Neime, Pahars, Case, Dodd, Benali, K Moore, M Dennis, M Mills, Rodd Wallace, M Wright, Nicholl, Marsden, Shilton, Lundekvam. -
According to the SW banner he is. Does anyone else since Le Tiss deserve legend status. Maybe AL (or is he to young), Kelvin for sticking with us through the good and bad times?

Closest I can remember for CB are Mills and Crainie (both of which represented England at youth levels, one of which was also a captain)? Didn't one also go to Man City? Whatever happened to these two - both were good prospects I believe? Goalkeepers I would tend to agree. The only youth one I remember is Poke. I guess Bart arguably was, and looked good in that match against Newcastle. However injury and confidence seemed to be his downfall. Maybe England just isn't good at creating goalkeepers - I think in the prem there are one, maybe two english keepers? Look at other countries (Spain and Italy) and I suspect a much higher % are the home nationality. Could this be down to a more competitive reserve team structure (i.e. B-teams actually competing formally in the lower leagues)?

Loving this game to! Got witherindon into the prem and consistently 4th, unfortunately no champions league, so when I win the prem I'll have pretty much completed!

Who can we least afford to lose with a bad injury?
ozzmeister replied to TopGun's topic in The Saints
Which positions do we have the weekest back up? I'd say GK and LB, so in that, boruc and shaw. -
U need to have different factors considered, longetivity (who is going to be round for say the next 3-5 seasons), playing time (who will get 90 mins every game), composure, respect.... Of these attributes, I put Morgan, lovren, fonte. Who in yesterday's game was doing all the talking at the start in the huddle? Looked like fonte? Those attributes I also mentioned unfortunately rule out Ricky, he won't play every game, and he hasn't got seasons and seasons left.

Any update yet when it will be available on IOS? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

I am thrilled at our position/progress, I won't start making comparisons to last year though until Christmas, don't forget we had a very very hard start last year. One thing I will say compared to last year is that no results seemed nailed on, big team dropping unexpected points every week! Top 4, to much for this season, top 8 a very big shout!

I've mentioned it a number of times, why not the Paolo dicanio song - simple, Italian, effective

What would be interesting to see are the line ups on each of those dates - anyone got the team archives to hand?

Post Match Reaction & MotM: SAINTS 2-0 Crystal Palace
ozzmeister replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
In mourinihos first stint at Chelsea wernt they described as dull with lots of 'boring' 1-0 wins. I'm perfectly fine with that if it gets results! -
West Ham would jump at the chance!

Any idea when new iPhone version will be available? Any enhancements on there?
