  3. All hypothetical of course, but… Given we won’t go for Potter (won’t pay his wages], we may have to wait for another PL head to roll before a decent candidate becomes free. Cooper at Forest would be my choice, but they’re doing annoyingly well. [Ex-Swansea managers are the new black…]. Howe would be a pipe-dream at this point.
  4. Always thought his corners were a bit crap for us, but perhaps it was just those who were in the box waiting for the cross?
  5. From what I have read/heard from him (not including recent baffling post-match comments) I like RM as a human being, he seems a decent guy. I really want him to do well, but do worry about his ability to turn this around. The atmosphere in the ground is quickly moving from apathy to toxicity. This was supposed to be a season we could all enjoy, watch fast-moving passing football and see some home wins. It’s not panning out and his pleas for patience is falling on deaf ears, and here’s why... He talks about ‘scar tissue’ with the players. Well you know what, we fans have it too - we’ve suffered three years now of the most frustrating football I can recall in recent memory. Mismanaged by a series of managers, each with different but equally entrenched and rigid ideologies, who over-think things and who all found (or are finding) it impossible to get a song out of what on paper should be a decent enough squad. It’s no wonder our patience has snapped… I’d really like to know what Wilcox is making of all this.
  6. We were baffled by that too - were sure the ref blew up, it was so abrupt. And that’s a great example of the biggest issue with ‘Martin-ball’ - we’re asking players to go against their natural instincts; strikers to drive forward, defenders to get it out of danger areas as soon as they can. They are being asked to do things that don’t make sense (to them or us). No wonder they are confused and end up making mistakes.
  7. Another one bites the dust… https://x.com/alfiehouseecho/status/1700956292800479485?s=46&t=6zx5qf2H7nuEX1l3EabHng
  8. The inference in his post was clear, otherwise why bother writing it? Maybe you need to read it again.
  9. Have you found the first five games boring? I haven’t. (The last one was painful, mind). Was there no emotion involved in the 4-4 game with Norwich? Was there no excitement in three injury time goals? Not sure I recognise the picture you’re painting of dull, event-free games?
  10. No, but he saved about 3-4 sure goals. Overly simplistic to put goals down to the goalie. The defence in front of him was terrible.
  11. Would have been about 8-9 with McCarthy in.
  12. Have to say, on balance, that is a great window, one of the better ones I can recall. We’ve lost the players we expected to, plus a few we wanted to (still a few left it would have been good to offload). Whether by circumstance or design, keeping players like KWP, Che, Sulemana is incredible in this division. Let’s just hope the latter two keep their heads up and give their all (am sure Che will). if Sulemana can get in a positive headspace he will be devastating in this division. Then we’ve added a good mix of quality and experience in Downes, Charles, Harwood-Bellis, Manning, Holgate, Fraser, Stewart… top top work by Wilcox. 8/10.
  13. I see what you did there 😉
  14. Stuart Armstrong had the captains armband, but Bednarek had a black armband on from what I could see, not sure why. I mistook it for the captains armband at first too.
  15. Courtesy of SaintRob on Twitter… And there’s a Part II. https://x.com/saintrob__/status/1677052566708842497?s=46&t=6zx5qf2H7nuEX1l3EabHng
  16. I like the look of him… Downes v Saints
  17. Made for Saudi.
  18. Bang on, especially point 3!! Best of luck for the rest of the season, great to see Argyll back in the Championship. You’ll be more than fine 👍
  19. I didn’t think Plymouth were poor at all. Workmanlike maybe, but they had the better of the first half I’d argue, and never gave up - even after our late goal. They’ll more than hold their own in this division, possibly even an outside bet for the playoffs. Best kit in the league too…
  20. Someone has been watching too many re-runs of ‘On the buses’ on ITV4… yak yak yak…
  21. Most in the room applauded, and I certainly wasn’t shaking my head. What he and Wilcox said made perfect sense to me and I’m inclined to trust their judgement.
  22. He isn’t shite though.
  23. How do you know the defence lack confidence in him? And why is it his responsibility to organise a defence that is way more experienced than he is? Feels like he’s carrying the can for a less than capable defence…
  24. I have the link, but due some reason this site never lets me post URLs. I’ll try to send to you via message if I can.
