  1. Can you smell that? Yes, the new Premier League season is just around the corner now! TSP127 sees your regular TSP panel preview Saints first game of the new campaign - away to Crystal Palace. Given Saints dreadful opening day record, can they secure anything from Selhurst Park? Listen in and hear what the guys have to say. This TSP episode also includes the first edition of ‘Red and White Insight – life inside our Club’, featuring Saints CEO, Martin Semmens (35:00). Mr Semmens talks about a number of successes and challenges within the Club over recent times, including the impact of Coronavirus, securing Ralph Hasenhuttl to a new deal, potential contract extensions for key first-team players, sponsorship issues, the Saints Women’s team and more. If you'd like to listen to the Pod episode, you can find it via any of the following channels (and some others....) acast: https://bit.ly/3bG8neI iTunes: https://apple.co/332GvgR Overcast: https://bit.ly/3i7iewv SoundCloud: https://bit.ly/2GtKlb4 Spotify: https://spoti.fi/2DAezYW
  2. Absolutely, Nick! Thank you.
  3. Due almost entirely to the brilliant support and encouragement of our loyal listeners, Total Saints Podcast is back for 2020-21!This first episode of the season (which hopefully doesn't include too many cobwebs!) sees the newly confirmed TSP panel – Ben, Steve, Glen and The Athletic's Dan Sheldon – once again going to the heart of all things Saints FC.TSP126 conversation covers the upcoming Premier League campaign, a few dodgy predictions, the Saints' fixture list, some ‘sponsoring issues’, Dan’s recent move to The Athletic and much more.If you'd like to listen then you can find it via any of the below links (or your preferred podcast channel):acast: https://bit.ly/3lG1rmviTunes: https://apple.co/3bdtlkBOvercast: https://bit.ly/3gDm272SoundCloud: https://bit.ly/32DJTP3Spotify: https://spoti.fi/3lvIfaN
  4. Hi Everyone, Hope you're keeping well and having an enjoyable 'off season'. With the return of football not too far away now, I'm delighted to say that, due almost entirely to the outpouring of encouragement for Total Saints Podcast to continue, we'll be back next Monday (31/8) with our first Pod of Season 2020-21. Glen and Steve will again be joining myself (Ben) this year, as will our newly secured 'regular weekly guest', Dan Sheldon (now of The Athletic). We look forward to sharing our/your thoughts and opinions on Saints each week, as the 'roller coaster' kicks into action once more. We've also created a brand new website - www.totalsaints.co.uk - should you like to check it out at any point. Anyway, I'll continue to add the Pods/links to this thread every Monday morning (UK time) - rather than individual episode posts (which didn't seem the preferred approach last season) - should you wish to listen. Hope you enjoy them/us and fingers crossed for another successful season under Ralph. Catch you soon, B
  5. Hi Bobby, I tried to be as transparent as possible in the Patreon summary (given there is zero pressure on any one individual to sign up), but in summary: * we’re looking to hire a professional producer (to edit/produce each Podcast, upload it etc.). We’ve someone who is interested, but they will command a big chunk of the cash (across the season). * we’re looking to improve the equipment we use to record our Pod (so it’s a better overall listening experience). * there’s our annual Pod hosting costs (via SoundCloud). * we’re hoping to host/create a website, which will have more information on it to support/compliment the Pod, general Saints news and other offerings. * Given Covid (plus our Patrons commitment to us), we’re wanting to do more ‘live-streaming’ events with patrons only, across the season (which comes at a cost) Plus Patreon take a % of each patronage (per month) and there is also various taxes deducted by them - so, as you can imagine, it all adds up. Finally, there is no guarantee every Patron will stay (or be able to stay) with us for the full duration of the season. Ultimately, we’re in a good position right now and working hard to enable TSP to continue (as was asked/requested by so many people) - but with the original ‘retirement time parameters’ managed accordingly. Hope that helps, Thanks B
  6. Hey guys, Sorry, actually away on holiday at the moment but, yes, after an overwhelming 7-10 days since we did TSP125 (with numerous messages of encouragement to carry on), as well as the support on here also, we’re indeed hoping to bring in some external assistance - which will enable a consistent/quality listen to still be delivered each week - as well as free up a bit of time (where needed). Thanks to any/all of you who’ve signed up. Steve, myself etc. really appreciate it very much - and look forward to ‘keeping the show on the road’ during 2020-21. B
  7. Thank you Nick. Really appreciate the kind words. I'll miss it too. Nothing would have made me happier than to produce that/this sort of content on a full-time basis but, alas, that won't currently pay the mortgage! 😀
  8. Lastly, I just wanted to take the time to thank everyone at SaintsWeb for listening to our Pod over the past few years, to Steve for all his efforts, for all your feedback and comments and - most importantly - for being so supportive of us posting the Pod on your platform each week.Keep Marching In!Ben/Team TSP
  9. 3 years ago – complete with clunky opening soundtrack (and, arguably, two even clunkier sounding ‘podcasters’) – Total Saints Podcast was born.125 episodes later, we’ve achieved 200,000 global listens and enjoyed many laughs, shared many frustrations and argued many disappointments. It’s been some journey!Unfortunately, dear TSP listener, that journey is now at an end.TSP125 - ‘The Final Countdown’ sees us together for one final ‘hurrah’ – reviewing Saints last game of 2019-20, the 3-1 win versus Sheffield United. In this bumper final episode, some of our favourite partners and journalists also join in, sharing their opinions on Saints Player of the Season, Most Improved Player, their ‘one to watch’ in 2020-21 and ‘one wish’ for the next 12 months. Happy Hot Tubs, Saints Archive, SaintsWorld, Dan Sheldon, Andrew Pate, Joe Prince-Wright and Simon Peach all feature in that. Finally, as the referee prepares to blow for full-time, an old TSP friend also pops in, for a ‘must attend’ chat….If you'd like to listen to this episode then you can find it via any of the below links:acast: https://bit.ly/32VJTvpiTunes: https://apple.co/3jKmDqrOvercast: https://bit.ly/39vAZGaSoundCloud: https://bit.ly/2DcrmjWSpotify: https://spoti.fi/32XtOWg
  10. Thank you very much guys! Glad you've enjoyed it 👍
  11. Thank you for listening to us 👍
  12. Thanks SKD. Appreciate the kind words re the Pod. It may sound odd to have worked so hard on something for 3 years.....and then just knock it on the head - but I need to take a break from it as, despite being incredibly proud of the product we now have, its become all consuming unfortunately. Its never been about the money (albeit we've been incredibly lucky to have our technology, hosting costs etc. covered by our patrons). More the fact that myself, Steve, others love talking about Saints and, where possible, have enjoyed trying to promote an unfashionable football club to anyone who'll listen to us! Its been a great ride - but its time to take a rest. P.S - at least we've left the team back in mid-table again! 😉
  13. Thanks guys. Really appreciate all the support (throughout). B
  14. Saints 2019-20 Premier League away campaign came to a finish with yet another win! Only this season’s Champions have claimed more points on the road than us - as we've ended with a record top-flight haul of 31 (which includes 9 wins!). TSP124 sees the regular panel - and Dan Sheldon (Daily Echo) - look back on another successful ‘day at the office’ (/emotional roller coaster!) for Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men. The Pod ends with Dan discussing the latest on Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg (23:00), and a preview of the final Premier League fixture of the season for Saints – at home to Sheffield United (27:45). 15. This current Saints side simply don’t know when they’re beaten – as was proven again up at Old Trafford. Despite trailing for much of the match, Michael Obafemi pounced in the 96th minute to provide more jubilation for us all. TSP123 sees Ben, Steve and Glen joined by Dan Sheldon (Daily Echo) and Simon Peach (PA Media) to review all the significant moments from the 2-2 draw, including Oriol Romeu riling Gary Neville (#JoyousScenes). With two further fixtures just around the corner for Ralph and the lads, we also preview (22:50) Brighton’s visit to St. Mary’s (on Thursday) and the trip (30:30) down to relegation threatened Bournemouth (on Sunday). 16. Your weekly dose of Total Saints Podcast is here.....Yes, all in all, its been a pretty good 7 days for Saints - with the massive win against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City (which achieved mathematical Premier League safety!) being followed up by a largely excellent showing away to Everton.TSP122 sees Ben, Steve and Glen catch up swiftly after the Goodison fixture, reflecting on those two performances/results.Alongside news on the 2020-21 Saints kit release, the Pod also includes a preview (30:00) of next Monday’s visit to Manchester United’s ‘Theatre of Dreams’.If you'd like to take a listen to the episode, you can find it via any of the below links:acast: https://bit.ly/3ef3Dw4iTunes: https://apple.co/2OceFaQOvercast: https://bit.ly/38GORNDSoundCloud: https://bit.ly/38P4u5BSpotify: https://spoti.fi/2W2DOt5
  17. Saints secured their Premier League safety with a classy and professional 3-1 win against Watford. It was the Club’s 8th top-flight away win of the season – a Southampton record! TSP121 sees us bask in the knowledge that another season in England’s premier footballing division awaits Ralph Hasenhuttl's side. As well as reflecting on the Hornets win, there's an update from sponsor Virgin Media (22:45) about some of the brilliant initiatives they’ve been working on, in partnership with Saints, during the lockdown. Finally, in what now looks like a ‘free hit' for the haloed safety-achievers, we preview next week’s game against Manchester City (34:45). P.S - Danny Ings is amazing!! 18. Saints kicked off their Project Restart campaign in style, walloping Norwich City 3-0. TSP120 sees us look back on all the key talking points from that first game back (......and Steve reflecting on all his hard SaintsWeb work over the past few months! 😀) Discussion includes Dan Sheldon’s matchday stadium experience (*spoiler alert - there were LOTS of desks!*), Danny Ings carrying on where he left off, Saints excellent fitness levels and also strong rumours that a former TSP contributor may have completely changed his stance on ‘must win’ predictions! The episode also previews (32:00) Saints next Premier League fixture – at home to Arsenal this coming Thursday - including Glen's views on Cedric Soares being injured again! acast: https://bit.ly/3fPDftN iTunes: https://apple.co/2YWZAin Overcast: https://bit.ly/37Rf23S SoundCloud: https://bit.ly/3dqBm5k Spotify: https://spoti.fi/3eq0bQb
  19. 19 years ago this week, our beloved old football stadium closed its doors for the final time. Having hosted the last ever competitive match (vs Arsenal on 19th May 2001), and the last ever match (vs Brighton on 26th May 2001), it saw 103 years of dedicated service come to an end. To celebrate one of England's famous old football stadiums, TSP116 sees us joined by Russell Masters, the man behind www.historicsouthampton.co.uk. Among other things, we discuss Saints first moving to The Dell ( in 1898 ), the first ever match, stuffing Pompey, boxing bouts, World War 2 attacks, record attendances and, of course, the final competitive goal - scored by the one and only, Matt Le Tissier. This episode is simply full of Dell content and memories, as we pay tribute to this massive part of our Club/City's history. 20. Over the past 40 years, Dave Merrington has spent many hours coaching our youth team players, managing us in the Premier League and summarising on Radio Solent. TSP114 sees TSP/Saints Archive catch up with this 'Saint', chatting through his numerous stories and memories. Whether it be working with young Matt Le Tissier's and Alan Shearer's, battling Premier League survival (with zero budget!) or supporting Adam Blackmore's matchday coverage, Dave's done it all! You'll do well to find anyone who is more passionate about life in and around St. Mary's than 'Big Dave' - he's quite simply DC! 21. No-one has ever played more games for Saints (over 800) than Terry Paine, and only 3 players in history have scored more goals for the Club (over 180) - he is quite simply a footballing legend. Add to that an MBE, the Honorary President position at Saints and being a member of the famous 1966 World Cup winning England squad and it’s quite some CV! TSP113 sees us/Saints Archive have the pleasure of reminiscing with Terry about some of his most memorable career moments. Whether it be Club or Country, Terry has many fantastic stories to share in this episode.
