Thats one way of looking at it. Another would be that Austin was a goal scoring game-changer (up until about March 2018, I'm sure if you look at his goals to gametime he was our best performer by far) whilst Cedric was mediocre and often struggled to get in the team ahead of Cuco Martina, and later a young unproven Valery. Fair enough if you prefer Cedric to Austin but I don't think it's exactly a stretch as you say.

Obviously we looked a million times better once we switched to 2 centrebacks, almost as soon as we made the switch. We'll be fine this season if we play 2 cbs, the difference was so clear I'd be amazed if he goes back to 3 cbs. I say Welbeck would be a good signing. Also can play cf, and off the cf as part of a 4-3-3. Decent player. If we get him, good squad? Well like someone above says, if we play 3 cbs then we are short on decent cb's. Hopefully can play Bertrand as one of the cb's though, alongside Yoshida and Vestegaard. Fine up front for me if we sign Welbeck. Not sure centre mid. Not a Lemina fan at all. Hoijberg, Romeu and Ward-Prowse competing for 2 positions? Not ideal, but could work. Should be fine this season if we sign Welbeck.

Mbappe a bit injury prone for me. Never looks that great, just another bouffal in my books. Couldn't afford his wages, and would never come. Would prefer to see us giving Simms or Gallagher a chance, rather than buying another expensive flop.

Yeah Austins useless except for the fact that he scores far more goals than Gabbiadini and the position they play is cf.

I never really fancy us to play well when Lemina's on. And maybe we should think about going back to 4-3-3. 3 cbs a bit defensive of a style. Relies a lot on Bertrand when attacking. Maybe was ok when we were in dire straits at the end of last season. Plus our cbs are crap, whereas we have quite a few attacking players now.
