  1. Cesar Azpilicueta crosses the ball, Daniel Fox gets a block in
  2. bee a fly .... Aah, I see what you did there..... This is a bee-fly! http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5199/6953789498_9f2195cc47_t.jpg
  3. I think it is a common feature of a football 'fan' with no soul or real connection with a club - "plastics" I think we call them now. I have an acquaintance, born near Brighton and worked near Reading for many years. Back in the L1 days a couple of years ago he was a Brighton supporter and kept on about how they were above Saints in the league. In the Champ season he was still Brighton for a while until we left them well behind and suddenly he was a Reading fan (lived there for many years). So at the end of season he was still ahead of me. This season he started Reading but is now Chelsea as his grandson is a 'Chelsea' fan although he lives in Bracknell. I no longer support Saints, I am a Man City fan as my mother was born in Manchester (in 1909). At the moment it is the only was I can get ahead of him! I will switch back to Saints when we over take Chelsea (although I did revert temporarily to Saints after the draw there!).
  4. He has never interfered with me ... well, not yet anyway.
  5. Eastleigh!!!!!!!
  6. So why do you insist on keeping it going?
  7. Don't you just wonder how the Conference sides will cope with such a huge following when P****Y come town?
  8. Arising from just down the coast, Is the pleasing aroma of toast. After they won the Cup; We sang “Pompey pay up!” But they didn’t yet continue to boast … The fans down there think they’re the best, But we know that is only a jest. It is just one reason why We wish Pompey would die And the world could be freed of this pest!
  9. BBC says 11,466 there today? 56 minutes gone and not one shot yet, not even on target and Carlisle have had 56% possession. You can surely understand why they are now so quiet, it must be absolutely mind numbing watching them (assuming you have a mind that is).
  10. You are not listening are you? That was all done by those naughty people who are no longer at the club and that is exactly why we need the squeaky clean chaps from the Trust to take over and run it properly and honestly in future. Remember, these people did not make this mess, they have been left to sort it out as best they can! [Do you know, just for a moment, I started to believe that as I typed it - got a grip just in time!]
  11. If the club have £3m sitting in the account now why are the HNWI having to subsidise running costs each month?
  12. "We shot the sheriff Before he had a chance"
  13. "Telegraph chief sports reporter: Harris bid said to be 100% debt-funded with money from a Malaysian finance house, and club will not own ground." What nationality is Baloo? So Chanrai owns the ground for which he takes money from the club in 'rent' and provides some 'capital' to enable him to do so and puts three stooges in to enable him to 'own' the club without having to go through the FAPPT. All makes sense to me now .... or does it?
  14. You have an alternative strategy that will work perhaps? I have supported Saints for 60 years and what Dellman says is true - it has always been my team who I support but it has never been my club that I belong to or have any influence over and it never will be. We are no different as a club to most of the others in the league are we?
  15. Chairman: "So how much are we now short in the business plan?" Treasurer: "Best estimate is £18 million, give or take million or two" Chairman: "OK, let's rework the business plan then. All those in favour of increasing line 79 in the financial model to gates of 32,000 in League 2 instead of 6,000?"
  16. "Rumour today that Lambert had asked for a transfer (post Adkins) and then he is skipper, is this a coincidence or a rubbish rumour," From the BBC match report a quote: "Rickie Lambert was particularly lively, with the striker hitting the post with a free kick and seeing a header cleared off the line. While the former Bristol Rovers striker admitted it has been a difficult couple of days, he believes the players have shown they are quickly adapting to Pochettino's methods. "It's been a hell of a few days, a lot of people are disappointed at the club but the players have to get on with the job," said Lambert. "We are already getting to grips with the manager's ideas. He wants high pressure, a high tempo and it showed in the first half." So the 'rumour' today that Lambert had asked for a transfer (post Adkins) looks like a "rubbish rumour"?
  17. Exactly; so why should we not play with two left footers in the centre of the defence?
  18. "and having your manager find out he is sacked by watching a TV program is pretty inexcusable in my book." Are you really certain this is true or is this one of the many speculative comments on this forum that quickly become enshrined as fact? Did Nigel say this how he found out? Maybe I missed it somewhere?
  19. I am as sorry as anyone to see Nigel go but not surprised. Now he has gone he seems to have taken on a god status but just look back at the threads on this forum and many who are now abusing NC were criticising Nigel's transfers, both in and out, his team selections, his tactics, his substitutions, even his post match interviews. Re-read the Chelsea build up thread and the match thread (up to half time, the tune changes after that for some reason). Three years ago, when NC took over, like any good business man he had a vision and a plan and many scoffed at what he was suggesting was possible. His first objective was to get out of div 3, pass through div 2 and back to the top flight within five years. He looked for the man he believed could do that and when had had found him he paid up Pardew's contract and brought in Nigel. I have absolutely no doubt that NC made it clear to Nigel from the start; "Take us to the Prem Nigel and I will make you a very rich man but I make no promises of what happens after that." Nigel delivered on the contract and has been rewarded well for doing so. He will have been paid the full value of his contract without having to work further for it. NC's plan does not stop at being in the Prem, for most of the fans it seems to! Like last time we see survival as our only realistic hope and our experience shapes our expectations. NC does not carry that baggage around with him; to him we are only half way to the target. Once back in the Prem, we all cheered and said "job done - we are home again." Not so for NC, the job is not done and he needs to drive on towards the goal he, and probably the financiers, have set. This change of manager is not a sudden, reckless decision. He has been looking for the man he believes can deliver the next phase of development for some time, certainly since last summer. He will have had a lot of work done to find the right man, this is not just a knee-jerk reaction to failure this season (as with other recent sackings) but part of carefully planned strategy. Now he has found that man he has implemented the next part of the plan. As fans we are emotionally involved with our club and that is why fans can't run clubs (as we found with Mike and Leon, PDT take note!). NC is detached and is focused on delivering success. Obviously the fans will see things very differently to NC but none of us know much about him because he is not a public figure. He has received a lot of abuse and a lot of 'facts' have been made up about him to the degree he is now seen as some sort of deranged dictator. Nigel has been well aware that he was not part of the next phase for some time. He has done his job and done it well and, as I said above, he has been rewarded well for it. NC wants to move on, we have no choice but to go with him! I think some of the things that have been said, in ignorance, of NC are shameful and much of what I have read about the new man on here is probably ill informed. However, that to me, sums up this forum these days; hypocrisy abounds and it is why I have joined the 'lurkers' looking for news and trying to avoid the nasty insults and continual bickering that goes on. No doubt I will receive my share for this but, hey, that's the Saintsweb!
  20. Trust want to buy their own players who are better than the likes of Jon Harley?
  21. What's the problem? £10,000 a year on Moneyfields could transform it in to a Conference level stadium.
  22. Surely the happiest New Year would be for them to stay in admin and be relegated without the minus 10 and then come out under the PDT during the summer and have the minus ten applied for the start of next season? I would hate to see the minus ten wasted!
  23. If he has exchanged contracts then he has an option (rather than obligation) to buy but would have to sacrifice his deposit if he fails to proceed. He has, to all intents and purposes, secured this land and so he is now desperate for the park itself. My understanding, which may be wrong, is that the judge will not set a value as such, he will consider the case as presented by the two sides by their legal representatives and allow PKF to sell to Robinson for £2.75k or refuse that permission. I am pretty sure Chanrai's team will be at pains to point out the potential value to Robinson if he owns both lots of land. I can't help thinking this is a worse scenario for PKF/Robinson than if Robinson had not bought Park Lane and so not really needing Mayfair quite as badly. Time will tell!
  24. So, the game of Monopoly starts and Mr Chanrai lands on Mayfair first time round and buys it for £400. Mr Robinson says "Mr C, will you sell me Mayfair for £100?". Mr C's reply (in its shortened form) is "No, I want £1,000". As the game progresses Mr R lands on Park Lane and buys it for £350. Now Mr R really needs Mayfair to make a killing and win the game. "Mr C, I will give you £200 for Mayfair". "See you in court" comes the reply because "now I want £2000!". Surely the value of Fat Pipes has gone up considerably now that Robinson (almost) owns the surrounding land? Would they not have been better going through with the court case and getting it valued and sewn up before Robinson owned the Miland land? Without FP Robinson will be lucky to get what he is paying for the Miland land back; if he can find a buyer. With FP, when the trust find they are unable to pay the rent, he will be sat on a small fortune which is obviously his aim. Is Robinson truly a P****Y supporter?
  25. But the articles says: "A syndicate has helped the Pompey Supporters’ Trust reach the magnificent milestone of £1m raised through fans’ pledges." That seems clear - they have raised £1m to date. Trouble is, that is only 54% of the £1.85m they need to raise to meet the FL stipulation? They need another 850 'sales' - a big ask I reckon.
