  1. Ties in nicely with Cedric on the way out...
  2. If those cones aren’t lined up perfectly for each training session - we now know who to blame.
  3. A thousand times this. Sims can’t get into a poor Reading side, yet he’s exactly what we’re missing here.
  4. There are people you can talk to if you’re lonely mate, you don’t need to spout nonsense on a forum to get attention.
  5. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-12-05/profile-ralph-hasenhuttl-southampton-football-club-first-team-manager The inclusion of the line “lots of possibilities” might be my favourite piece of trolling of all time.
  6. Would anyone give a sh*t if he had been announced yesterday but sat in the stands for spurs? Really? Loads of managers do this.
  7. I would struggle to think of any one worse we could appoint tbh. I'd rather have les back.
  8. Think Mr Howe has got that one sewn up for this summer to be honest. Reality is, if we appoint him and he does well, he will go. Like our better players will if he gets any of them playing. I'm fine with that. The alternative is what we have now.
  9. I thought it was impossible for anyone at saints to make a good managerial appointment, as no-one left had any ‘football experience’? Despite said football experience landing us two terrible managers in a row, previously?
  10. His legs had gone though. He was abysmal for West Ham and had to run off to China.

    Hughes OUT

So you think Hughes will turn it round? Allardyce would 100% do better than Hughes

    Hughes OUT

Does ANYONE on this forum think Hughes should stay, as he will turn it round?
  13. Why do you not reference Matic in this title?
  14. Can’t wait for the sage judges on here to say he should start every week as he ‘runs about’, ‘puts a shift in’ and ‘has passion’
  15. I'd like to see A4 banners on white paper and quite possibly a bed-sheet at either end. Written on with semi-permanent marker, which begins to smudge by kick-off time. That'd show them.
  16. Full credit to those on here who suggested we would have signed Maddison had we gone down ?*♂️
  17. So let’s spend £20m on Gibson, pay him £50k pw and then subsidise Stephens’ wage as we loan him out?
  18. Given his likely reputation within the game now (not suited to English game, potential bad egg due to fight with Hughes) do you really think a club might pay £48m for him next summer?!
  19. Do you really think saints will run with 6 senior CBs? How many games do you think the 6th choice of those CBs will actually play? If we signed Marlon and Vestergaard, I would be very surprised if another CB didn’t go out. In the event of all three first choice CBs being out, Bertrand can just cover. For example, if Stephens is 6th choice and is on the rumoured £50k, than that is a huge waste of money?
  20. Yep - Ajax will pay Tadic a signing on fee. That doesn’t come out of saints’ end though?! So if Tadic is £10m. Saints get £10m. If Ajax choose to give Tadic £1m to encourage him to sign, that’s up to them? It’s nothing to do with fee saints receive. It also doesn’t depend on transfer fee. For example, players moving in a free transfer typically a much greater signing on bonus (as the club don’t have to pay a fee for the player, so can afford more wages for him). Clubs are free to offer whatever signing on fee they want, it’s not mandated at 10% of fee. It will depend on a multitude of factors
  21. Every time a player is sold and the player hasn’t formally requested a transfer, they get 10% of the transfer fee? This is surely not true? Even if happened in 1 instance (which player confirmed it?) how does work in practice? You are actively incentivising the player to move, as they get paid big time when they leave? That’s the antithesis of a loyalty bonus encouraging them to stay? I thought loyalty bonuses saw the club paying up a percentage of the wages due to the player over the remainder of the contract, the argument being that the player would have earned those wages, but can’t as the club is releasing him from his contract. The % due would depend on a range of factors and would vary from each player to player
  22. I genuinely cannot understand how you think this is correct. Release clause means we have to accept a bid that meets it. We cannot turn that bid down. If he wants to go and club meets clause, he’s off. If another club wanted to pay say £25m, we would accept that bid too (as it is in excess of the release clause) and then Tadic then chooses which club to go to. I cannot think of a good reason why any club would offer more than the release clause though? If you have extra cash, give more to Tadic in wages and signing bonus to convince him to join you over rivals.

    Alex McCarthy

The Echo article puts FF’s contract at £58k pw. That is not a stupid contract for a first choice premier league player (not least one who was POTY) McCarthy would expect at least a weekly wage on that region I think?

    Alex McCarthy

Forgetting about whether he is any good etc, £60k pw for a first choice ‘keeper for a top 10 premier league side (with said keeper in national squads) is perfectly reasonable.

    Sam McQueen

Let’s get Pulis and play 4 CBs across the back line. Crikey
