  1. I like this side. Decent wide players and some strength and experience up front. Given recent form, I would take Lallana off the bench and replace him with McClaggon. Mind you, I doubt even that side would get a result at Ashton Gate.
  2. Stoch is a winger I think? He came on in the game that they got those 2 late goals against Stoke and played right wing. By all accounts he has a lot of potential, but is very much untested and definitely isn't a centre forward. Villa have said that Harewood definitely won't be going out on loan, a number of prem clubs inquired (WBA, Stoke and I think Middlesbrough) and they were given short shrift, as Villa will only accept a straight cash deal. Absolutely no chance of him coming here. Does anyone actually think we will get someone like Bendtner? Really? He is playing fairly regularly for a club in the Champion's league for christ's sake! If someone like him was available, a prem club would have taken him in January, guaranteed him first team football, agreed to pay all of his wages and prob pay Arsenal £1.5m as well. Please have some sense of reality.
  3. Gotta say I think we're down. Results this season just seem to be going against us. Last minute against Sheffield Utd, Reading and Sheff Wed getting late equalisers at St Mary's, it just reminds me of the relegation season and games against Middlesbrough, Everton, Villa. We're not scoring enough goals to win games and that's what pulls you away from the bottom, not hard-fought draws. Think after Bristol we have 2 home games? If we don't win both of those, I would say that's it.
  4. I went to the game last year and a got a bus to the ground quite easily from over the road from the station. There was a mad rush for them at the end of the game though, so ended up walking back to Temple Meads . It's a sizeable walk but I made it in plenty of time for the last train back to Cardiff at around quarter to 11, even stopped for a pint before boarding. Game was mid-week last season mind. Traffic was pretty bad outside Ashton Gate as well, the bus didn't move that much faster than we did walking!
  5. Anyone play the demo of this yet? Released on PSN yesterday. Pretty short demo (about 15 mins) but it's good. Graphically it is amazing, particularly the death animations. Obviously we will have to wait and see how the multiplayer turns out, but I enjoyed it.
  6. I love the fact that he says 'it has been a dream of mine to play in the Championship'. Really? Not just in England, but specifically the championship? Give the lad a chance. He might be decent, he might. I think until he plays, no-one knows.
  7. I live in Cardiff at the mo, so don't have an ST. I'm looking at moving back to Southampton in the summer, largely dependent on securing a job in the current market! If ST's were priced at £300, I'd definitely get one at just over £13 a game, that's pretty good value. If it was £350 then you're looking at £15 a game, which is a little less attractive, considering it is unlikely I would make every single home game. To be honest I would like to know what the individual match prices are likely to be. Surely they are going to have to come down a bit. I can't see many people paying way over £20 for League 1 football. Maybe for games against the likes of Leeds, but not many.
  8. If we did go under, (which I don't think we will) then inevitably an AFC Southampton would be started up. That's where my allegiances would lie. I couldn't support or folowanother club side. I would still watch football (I still watch MOTD now) but apart from England games, the passion would be gone for me. Here's a question for you, if an AFC Southampton was created, do you think we would ever make it to League football? Apparently AFC Wimbledon are not that far away from it now.
  9. Downloaded this yesterday. First impressions are pretty good. I found the control system a bit clunky, pretty difficult to get off headshots and the like. I'm hoping it will get easier once I get used to it. Feels very much like RE4, but with improved graphics. The real-time inventory is nasty! No chance to quickly pause and have a breather here! It's a resi game, so I'll definitely be purchasing. Also I'm guessing your assistant / partner is supposed to be of African descent? Bit weird to hear her cut-glass, RP accent!
  10. Interesting theories, but I very much doubt we will become a feeder club for Ujpest! The likes of Saga and Skacel will not fancy heading over to Hungary for their football. Now what I would look at is the work permit situation. Not sure what the Hungarian rules are, but what about saints signing loads of youngsters from Eastern Europe or Africa and then loaning them to Hungary until they qualify for Hungarian (and subsequently EU) nationality. Or am I just being insane?
  11. Be interesting to see Rudi given a go at Left mid. At least given a chance to show what he can do there. I'm guessing the club realise that selling someone Lallana or Surman for £500,000 would be ridiculous, which is why they may have turned down bids. I still wouldn't be surprised to see one go at the last minute, maybe a panic buy. I guess the good thing is that neither Surman or Lallana is on big wages, so we won't lose them on a loans after the window closes either. I agree about Dyer, Swansea are trying to get him on the cheap. Say he plays really well and scores another 5 goals by the end of the season. Big spenders in the CCC will be happy to pay over £1m for a player like that in the summer, particularly given his age. For clubs relegated from the Prem, that will be peanuts.
  12. To be fair it's possible that Lupoli was wanted by JP. By all accounts he's a light-weight ,technical player, exactly what JP loved. Wotte may have had a look at him, realised he would be pushed off the ball, plus he couldn't play up front with Saga or DMG and backed away. I'm not bothered about missing out on him. He'll almost certainly score against us though!
  13. I remember when I first went away to Uni. The shop round the corner did 8 booms for a fiver. Ended up being the start to many a night out!
  14. It worries me that people are expecting a win tmw (or at least saying that without a win, Wotte would be a failure) Swansea are on something like a 10 match unbeaten run. It's asking a lot for Wotte to end that in his first home game in charge... I actually think we will go down, as I can't see us winning enough games to get the points. I do wonder if any manger, that we would have a realistic chance of appointing, could save us at this point. Yes someone like Mourinho could save us, but we would never appoint him. I guess you're looking at the likes of Boothroyd, Holloway or Dowie and it's far from certain that any of them would do any better than Wotte will / may do. Holloway failed at Leicester, Dowie has been poor everywhere he has been, since getting Palace to the Prem and Boothroyd was struggling at a Watford side with resources arguably better than our own. Given the current situation, I'm supporting Wotte and hoping he can turn us around. Playing 2 strikers at home will be a good start!
  15. Pedantry?
  16. Think there was a Peter (Petr?) Rudi, that played for Sheffield Wednesday when they were in the prem. Not surprised by Skacel leaving. Big wages and we have others who can cover his position (although arguably not as well). Couple that with having to now pay saga's wages and it makes sense. Hope he doesn't go on a free transfer though
  17. I think this is a tough question. I would prob go with: Davis James Saeijs Perry Skacel Lallana Wotton Schneiderlin Surman Saga DMG Subs: Forecast, Holmes, Euell, BWP, McClaggon. Possible you can take Holmes off the bench for someone like Gillet, as BWP and Kayne provide cover for the wings. But this is on the proviso that Lallana stays wide right and provides a bit of cover for James. I think Skacel is the strongest LB at the club, which is why he is not at left wing. Wotton is slow, but he is really the only person we have who can put his foot in, in the middle of the park.
  18. 1. Frankie Bennett was a waiter wasn't he?
  19. Agree. It looks like we went there to play with a 5 man midfield and keep it tight, hoping to nick a draw. That didn't work, so we switched to 2 up front to chase the game. It was definitely not the dutch system. Wotte has basically come out and said it will be DMG and Saga up front against Swansea on Saturday.
  20. Agree these games look bad on paper, but you do get crazy results in the CCC. We capable of beating anyone and equally capable of losing to anyone. I would say we will definitely get turned over against Brum, Wolves, Ipswich and I don't fancy our chances of getting much out of Bristol away. Should we manage to sort out home form, there are some winnable games there. It's feasible for us to beat Sheff Utd, Preston, Derby, Charlton, Palace and Burnley at home. We could get something from Watford, Sheff Wed and Forest away (particularly if they are comfortable by then). It doesn't look good, but if we could get some momentum going, it's far from impossible. I feel much happier about the prospect of two up front and getting results at home.
  21. Guess it depends on how much Swansea would be willing to pay. I would expect they are looking to pick him up for something like £250k, which IMO we shouldn't accept. If they come in with a million, then we should take it. I definitely feel it was right to offer him a contract in the summer. It was do that or lose him for free, which would have been a bit foolish, given he does obviously have potential. All the time that Dyer stays at Swansea and performs well, his attractiveness to other clubs (and subsequently his transfer value) is increasing.
  22. Got promoted in the second season, won the CCC on the final day. Not happy to discover that Rupes has only given me £2m with which to try and stay up! Played 2 games away and lost both, but they were away at Villa and Everton, so it's not a disaster. Finding it difficult to get loans in the prem, most sides want you to pay around £1m, just to loan someone! Plus my board maximum on wages is £15k, finding it very hard to attract players who are better than what I have. Managed to get Wellbeck on a free after he was released by Man Utd, but he has been terrible so far. I know he may need time to bed in, just wondering if anyone else has had him before, is he worth sticking with?
  23. Just finished my first season, lost to Wolves in the playoff final. Sam Vokes who had scored 2 goals all season popped 4 in and I lost 4-3! I have a deal lined to sign Zaki, who I imagine would be a beast in the CCC, but I'm worried he won't get a work permit. Is there anything I can do to help his chances of it going through? Also are the player values a bit strange. Paterson is valued at a £1m and has never played a first team match for me, but DMG who banged in 20 goals last season is only worth £400k? They both have a few years left on their contracts. Just seems a bit strange. I'm massively hooked on this again, determined to get saints back up to the prem!
  24. No for me. If we go into admin, we could get relegated next year as well. If we slipped into league 2, I don't see us ever coming back, at least not for a very long time. We would lose the stadium and never realistically be in a position to buy it back. We could well do a Luton
  25. How about: ---------------Wright Ifill-------Dailly-------Lucketti-------(left back) ----------Cork--------Guthrie ---------------Chaplow Ekelund------------------------------Berkovic ---------------Camara May be lacking a bit of pace at the back, but that front three would be deadly on it's day. Anyone got a decent left back?
