whether or not the purchase price was right, or his salary was too high, or we were insured last yeat against injuries or not, i would offer this: Thomas is a no nonsense, big, strong, get-stuck-in centre half. When he joined I thought he was excellent. I recall going to Bramall Lane when the Blades were chasing promotion and singing, with 1000 other Saints fans, "there's only one Wayne Thomas" for much of the match - because he was outstanding. Burley then started to play him at RB. He is not a full back and it showed by Burley kept playing him there because we were short of full backs of course. He did get the odd game back at CB, but during a season when we were shipping goals for fun, and Burley tried about 12 different combos at CB. When NP arrived, Thomas would not have been showing his best for a while (but who had?!) Ok he has picked up some bad injuries since then, but lets not crucify him based on what the Echo thinks. He would be a top CB in this league, assuming his fitness is ok now

Much as having MLT at the helm would have been a dream ticket for many, there are some advantages to him having nothing to do with the board. When things go badly - which inevitably they will - a bad run of results, promotion missed, good players sold, etc, who often gets the blame? The board of course. We have seen famous ex players come back to clubs as managers and then leave, reputation in tatters. Ok, so not many have done so as Chairman, but the same risk is there. If MLT is not to be involved, its not all bad

sorry but thats tosh. there is no set timescale for an Administrator to sell any business: it takes as long as it takes. If there is a buyer, willing and ready to proceed at a sensible price, for which they have proof of funding, Fry will bite his hand off. If the buyer(s) are not willing, ready, or able to proceed, and / or dont have the funds, it is not his fault. Although he is probably very frustrated this has not happened yet, he can keep going as long as he thinks a sale is still possible and the costs that he is incurring - not much at the moment as he is not paying wages - are justified, compared to the potential sale proceeds that he will get. He has a legal duty to do this! I dont work for them BTW, but I have dealt with Administrations personally

I know its absolutely the done thing to say how cr*p someone was after they stop playing for us, but lets be honest please: before Burley decided to it was a good idea to regularly drop our top scorer, he was quality for us. Would you swap him for any of McGoldrick / Paterson / Euell? I would swap him for all of them - which would make him quite cheap in comparison

Spot on

SO many posters on here were telling us it was definitely happening by 26 Feb or thereabouts. Its the flaming 4th of March, we cant trust Lowe to do anything right
-
I thought he was working on a bid for Man City
-
or one that has shipped out 3 high quality strikers, whilst appointing a trio of Dutch non league managers and a whole platoon of rubbish signings + loanees and then is surprised when we cant score for toffee and the crowds have dropped
-
He has not just failed to communicate - has fundamentally spun everything, and taken actions, to cover up the truth, to the point of us (and him) being a laughing stock way beyond the boundaries of Hampshire He keeps making so many mistakes, and makes more to cover them up so often, that I am amazed you have not noticed (or are you covering them up?) You think he was popular at some point? I must have been asleep that day
-
And I had just finished slating him for taking Saga and John off at WBA away, when Lallana scored (to which Pearson celebrated like he had a 5 year contract). Top man

There have been many low points lately (no pun intended). This is yet another. The official response is a disgrace

Is he going to ask those members of the squad not playing on Saturdays (so Gasmi and Pulis are shoe-ins) to form a personal bodyguard for him and Wilde?

Oooh Rupes, has Dave H spoken out of turn then? Don't tell me he suggested you might have made a mistake or two? How dare he! Diddums

Admin - Watch Rupert find Investors then...
Bucks Saint replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
Sorry, bit late replying - others have since given a pretty good summary of how Administration works, but as someone who has worked on many Administrations / run many bust companies, I thought I should just clarify for you the shareholders position: it is largely irrelevant. Whilst shareholders do have claims against the company (SLH) for their shareholdings, these come well and truly last, after all creditors are paid in full. If shareholders have put in any additional sums - over and above the costs of buying their shares - i.e. personal funds loaned to the company, such as Directors loans - then these are creditor claims that rank directly alongside all other unsecured creditors. From what I understand not too many have stumped up their own cash like this! So the Shareholders influence over an Administrator is not an issue. As others have said, it is quite possible the existing management could make an offer to the Administrator though. This could well be the best, even the only, offer. Why do so many bust businesses get bought by the old management team? All sorts of reasons, like they think other events caused the demise and they know better, or they will not make the same mistakes again, but often they are the only ones who know the business well enough to "take a flyer" and try again, where others see too much risk to offer very much. Hope this helps cheers -
Subject only to his fitness? As he has not played for a few weeks, it might make sense to be on the bench for this match (only)
-
Top man. Always liked his attitude and this suggests that nothing has changed. If he goes it will be because the board push him out, but in the meantime he is sorely needed
-
Er, so you missed the goal against Sheff Utd then? Lots of people hail Stern John (rightly) for keeping us up on the final day last season, but without Saga's goal we would have been down. And if anyone wonders about his commitment to Saints - admittedly before we farmed him out to Aalborg - despite being treated appalling, then check out his reaction when he was sitting on the bench, having been subbed late on after giving 100%, when Lallana scored at West Brom in the penultimate match. He leapt about almost as much as me.

I agree, but thats not why we are in the cr*p now

I hardly get time to post on here but this is spot on. I didnt like the guy way back when, but we went on to achieve plenty and all the problems we now have started well after he handed over power
