I am going to be the optimistic one for once...... Imagine if we did have someone coming in who was interested in investing in the squad. Why couldn't we be the next Leicester or Everton. Not going to be too optimistic and say the next Man City as i think those days with financial fair play are now gone.

I think it is time now that we had some kind of statement from the new owner setting out his strategy for the club. I completely understand if he stayed quiet because of the ending transfer window but now is the time to talk.

I must admit I enjoy Tom28's posts as at least it provides some kind of insight, and he has been right most of the time. Unfortunately on here, it seems that if something is posted that someone doesn't like, the first course of action is to shout them down and call them a liar. Seems to be a good player from what I have read and IF he plays alongside VVD then we have a very strong centre half pairing. The spine of the team is what interests me now and we seem to have really put in some pace and height there. Amazing how much more optimistic you can feel when we strengthen rather than weaken the squad in a transfer window.

I think the important words in these snippets of the article is "extra funds" and "this month." Whose to say that come January, once we have established a clearer idea of what we need, he wont finance any required deals?

Some people seem to forget that all clubs are serviced using debt. Do you think the owners of Chelsea and Man City just give the money to the club as a present to spend. Man City are in over £1Bn worth of debt! Now that is fine as long as the guy in charge wants to carry on. Mr Gao has taken this loan against his own assets not the club. Now if he wants to transfer the debt to the club then that will sit there until he sells, or further investment is secured. The only real worry I have is how he is planning to get any more money into the club for investment if he cant release the money from his company?

Suppose I am just trying to be optimistic about this as I cant help but feel worried. Absolutely no reason to feel concerned, just think it has come from a fear of change. Investment was definitely required though.

Here is a question for you, if this guy has paid £210 million to Kat for 80%, what is to stop her investing some of that into the club as she still partly owns the club? Not saying she would, but is there something stopping this from happening. I think FFP only allows £30 million investment but as stated already, there are ways around this.

Interesting to hear that **** Advocaat is talking about getting involved now. Reading into his comments it seems that he wants to have a word with VVD and tell him to pull his finger out and get playing so he is ready for the Holland international qualifiers next month.

I can see a draw for this game, probably 1-1. As long as the team play as a cohesive unit and I start to see the signs of this pressing game that everyone was going on about prior to MP signing then I will be happy. Fully expecting a fairly mediocre season this year but hopefully we can start to click towards the end of August when some new signings come in.

I think you are right, it is going to need additions to get this team playing the way MP (and most of us) wants. The base level of fitness is so important and that is why using Austin for this is just not going to work. Redmond, Gabbi and Boufal should be able to achieve the high pressing after some training, it is the midfield covering the forward pass option that concerns me. They are just not mobile enough.

The match against Sevilla takes on a whole other level of significance now. Nothing less than a hugely improved performance or the atmosphere around the ground when we play Swansea is going to be nervous to say the least. I agree with the signings that everyone is talking about. What has concerned me is that we seem to have been so concerned with portraying this new image of not being a selling club, we seem to have forgotten to do some purchasing. It was always going to be difficult to ingrain a new "high pressing" philosophy into this team in the 5 - 6 weeks they have had so far, but I do have some faith that it will come along in the end. Just need to hit the ground running with our first set of fixtures this year! Normally a positive person regarding Saints, but I am concerned. Hopefully Saturday will ease my fears slightly.
