  1. Jesus wept.
  2. Dry your eyes mate.
  3. It required them buying his contract out. That's the "or anything" you're looking for.
  4. In a perfect world Wilcox would still be here. If Rasmus or Parsons were sat here now I'm sure they'd say that. But he's not. We're talking about replacement candidates with 6 month notice periods or huge release clauses. Even if we get someone tomorrow they probably won't be in a position to do anything this summer. So we have to get on with it. There are people in place to scout and recruit and negotiate and buy and sell. As others have said, Wilcox was a rookie director of football anyway, he wasn't doing great big million pound deals on players before he came to us. This would have been new ground for him even if he had stayed. At the end ofthe day he wasn't here long enough to be missed as much as you are crying about. We go on.
  5. Neither of those two clubs will ever get relegated ever ever again.
  6. We're probably not going to recruit a DOF for this window so you are really going to have to try and get over it.
  7. The head of recruitment can't just pick up recruitment? OK then.
  8. We have a head of recruitment in Darren Mowbray, plus a performance director, whose name I forget plus Phil Parsons plus Russell Martin. I don't think there is some impossible to cover gap there. It's not like Wilcox on his own would have done all the decision making on players in before. You'll remember we signed Downes and Manning, both having worked with Russell Martin. It's always a collective endeavour.
  9. He'll turn into Sadio Mane any day now because every player who people on here say is crap always turns into Sadio Mane and proves everyone wrong. Always
  10. We need some serious upgrades. This team lost four times to Leicester and Ipswich, who on paper are the two worst teams we will play next season.
  11. Maybe you should get over it.
  12. Who is "the club" in this scenario? Every single person in any position of influence has changed. The weird thing is people can get on their high horse about "getting over" what happened in the past....but on the other side of the debate the people that want him to come are going off exactly the same nostalgia because he used to play for us. If it was some 36 year old from Wolves or Everton with no link to us I doubt we'd see anything like this clamour.
  13. Since when does Adam Lallana have the monopoly on "good footballers". There are plenty of footballers on earth, one who has started less than 15 league matches in each of the last two seasons ain't that "good". And he is 36.
  14. If he could stay for one more year at Brighton but left then that tells you he wants a 2 year deal. That's obviously the reason he left Brighton.
  15. Wouldn't want Lallana or Ings. I always think that bringing in players to "teach" younger players is a load of guff. If he is coming in as a pure coach then fine. But seems an absolute waste of a squad number and a players wage. Ings can also, politely, fuck off. He's done nothing for two seasons for two clubs so no thanks.
  16. They don't very often get "silly money", though - think what we have given them over the years. Apparently the £12m we paid for Wanyama ten years ago is still quite high on their record fees received. We gave them even less for Virgil.
  17. They have just about got us to where we were in the first place before they bought us. They've rectified their own fuck up, I'll give you that. Let's see what they do next before we commission the marble statues.
  18. You know we got relegated in an absolute car crash of a season, don't you? Or did you spend that entire season saying that those guys are the best club owners any fan could ever wish for?
  19. We are the traditional next step for Celtic starlets though. Sounds like a good fit especially with the Russell Martin link - too perfect.
  20. No idea where this myth has come from, it keeps coming up. 34 Premier League starts. 9 out of 10 of their European matches he started. 52 appearances in all. Fifty two. He was on the bench for a couple of games and people have gone absolutely wild. It's like people on this forum are desperate for the narrative to be that he left us and he has failed.
  21. Forest went up via the play offs and then signed 30 odd players in one window. Stayed up at our expense though, so maybe we should just do that. Why sign one left back when you can sign four?
  22. And where does Wayne Bridge fit into this masterplan?
  23. If you are happy to pay then you could buy a NOW TV month or day subscription, you will be able to rewatch there. Probably your most reliable option, not sure the dodgy streamers are that useful for re-watching things.

    Flynn Downes

He's a West Ham fan of course bit hopefully he can see (and be convinced) that his best chance of regular PL football is with us.
  25. As I am sure you will all appreciate, the Circle Of Trust in is Level 5 lockdown as of 0900 this morning. This is of course in recognition of the increased security risk relating to our newly elevated status, and the levels of interest widening and rising. Please remain patient and vigilant.
