You're not taking it well, are you?

Exactly. The hype and hero worship of the guy on here was off the scale. We got promoted via play offs and countless managers before Martin have achieved that from Ian Holloway or Iain Dowie to Rob Edwards or Steve Cooper. All of those named had smaller budgets and more constraints that Martin got. But the Martinettes tried to make out their guy was different, a magical manager set for far greater things at bigger clubs and at a higher level because Vincent Kompany and stuff. Some of us could see that two nothing seasons at Swansea (following two nothing seasons at MK) suggested a different career path. I think it is pretty nailed on that Russell Martin has already had his biggest job in football. But what if he had better players etc etc I think we will discover that this was his best ever opportunity. But we'll see. Top 6 here he comes, right? After all he's loads better than crappy old Mark Hughes.

Nice to see us aggressive and on the front foot.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
CB Fry replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
It wasn't in their manifesto this time to be fair. But they should never ever have given that group any time at all, and certainly not given them the encouragement and photo opps etc. I don't think I have encountered a pressure group that I have less sympathy for or support for. Absolute bullshitters most of them and for those that didn't know, well you should have known. Fucking parasites on the scrounge. -
Our fanbase utterly incapable of singing anything other than "Daaaanny Roo-hl he's one of our own" or some such. A variation of Roll with it would be amazing but until Man City or Liverpool do it for someone else we won't touch it.

Listened the BBC Solent interview with the guy from Radio Sheffield on Rohl. Really positive on the guy but interesting for Solent to set up such a call at this stage.

The age of AI / ChatGPT truly is upon us. I never thought it would come for me.

I don't think anyone gives a flying fuck. Now do Premier League. Let us know when you've finished up adding up all Russell Martin's league wins.

Our leader, who is this blown in on Northern winds A proud craftsman, a reliable valet to guide us Hailing from a proud land, is it viking stock? To repair a torn battlement, to heal from split To mend us, from black and blue, all chewed up To make gold from dust He been far but in many ways is coming home A bridge, a castle and a land of making, but oh, a port? Welcome in, welcome in

Sometimes you just say any old shit.

This is a garbled nonsense version of what people were actually saying. Charles was not good enough last season, highly likely not good enough for the Prem now. When he came in as cover for Downes it didn't work. It was clearly the correct decision to loan him out 100% correct, hope he completes the season and cones back as a player we can use, like Smallbone last year. What you're saying about Rohl is equally twisted. People here started myth making, pretending Ralph was only good because of Rohl. This is despite us having our best seasons after he'd gone. Rohl only really got talked on here about because of that myth that people who didn't like Ralph wanted to be true. Bizarre you've tried to twist it the other way. Otherwise everything you say is spot on. Jesus wept 🙄

What situations can the fans accept with the new manager?
CB Fry replied to Nolan's topic in The Saints
Probably true - It does feel like even the era even of 35/36 is over. But the only issue is if we end up with three clubs on mid twenties and then the team in 17th is on 36 points being miles ahead, almost with an unnecessary amount of points. So we need four clubs adrift to give us a chance. Probably not happening. (We're not staying up anyway, I've come to terms with it) -
Never heard of him but my Wikipedia career assessments have never yet been wrong. This guy would be a terrible appointment - 20 odd games outside of Denmark and he totally shat the bed. Woeful If he gets the job I'll be going on hunger strike.
-
He's the top football man* and we are the flagship club of the group. He is 100% involved.
-
Remember according to the experts on here he's loads better than Mark Hughes so Russell Martin has a glittering career ahead of him. Four different clubs into the Premier League top 10 - 6th, 8th, 7th, 9th all with different clubs - season after season in the top 10 and often the European spots. But Russell Martin is better so sit back and watch his career go go go.

What situations can the fans accept with the new manager?

This premise is absolute horseshit, favoured by a handful of simpletons on here. You don't build a squad to "compete in the Premier League" by staying and staying and staying in the Championship. Get promoted as soon as possible and then work to stay in it. Like Ipswich and Leicester this season who may or may not stay up, but they are solidly in the mix. When we go back down are you proposing we conspire to stay down there until at least August 2027? That would be preferable? What good will it do us? What good is it doing Leeds right now?- 60 replies

Current popular WBA manager jumping ship to Wolves seems like a bit of a reach.
-
It was obvious he should have been sacked after Bournemouth, giving a competent replacement 30 to 32 games to try and keep us up, when we weren't cut adrift. But the club bottled it and the "chop and change never works" brigade got their wish, because Russell Martin.was going to learn and grow and turn into Alex Ferguson and no other manager on earth could do better. Since then 4 points from 10 matches and relegation guaranteed before Christmas. Maybe Chopping and changing would not have been so bad after all, because sticking with the idiot was a total disaster.
-
What about when Hughes went and we got Ralph, or when Selles went and we got Russell Martin? Or when Branfoot went and we got Alan Ball, or Stuart Gray to Strachan, or Dave Jones to Hoddle. Russell Martin was on 5 points from 16 games FFS. He is Nathan Jones in this scenario.
-
Lee Carsley. Pretty perfect learning slope to get some low pressure Prem experience then win the Championship. Then take us into the Champions League.

Bit hasty, isn't it?
