    I spoke to an owner of a Premier League club about this and a few other things. He actually agreed with the decision, but was even more annoyed about the red card being rescinded/postponed in the World Cup.

    Another option I’d like to see is corners instead of penalties to decide the match. 5 each to begin with. It ends when a goal is scored or the ball goes out of play or past the halfway line. Then after 5, sudden death. It means it’s still a team game, unlike penalties and is still more true to the game than deciding on penalties. If a foul does occur in the box against the attacking team, then people that like to see penalties will still get to see them often.
