My two kids are 5 and 10. In fact my ten year old helped out with the live broadcast of saints brum we did on saturday. Anyhow ive taken them to overseas friendly tours,to st marys and to local pre-season friendlies as well. I obviously would love it if they became dyed in the wool saints through and through - but im not going to force them - i seen too much of that....... My emphasis when with them talking about the matter has never been on winning or what a great team saints are. Its always about how the term "southampton football club" and having fun, singing, having fun, its ok if you are male female a child or a pensioner you are always the same as any other saints fan, having fun, its exciting, its fun, you can smile when you say you are a saints fan because it means you are a very special and rare person......... are synonymous. I think that saints fans as kids who "get" that will never wear a liverpool shirt or chelsea because "they win" or "have better players". For saints fans its NEVER, EVER, EVER been about that. In a footballing environment in which it seems increasingly clear that there can only ever be one or two "winners" from the same group of 4 it makes sense for us to continue to carve out our niche as a club with a wider set of values than that.

I think that good football management at SMS requires part financial management, part soccer coaching and part cold blooded pragmatism. We all know the ££ situation is bad. We all know we lost our first two league games. We all know the big earners have to go. BUT........being pragmatic i see no reason why the prospect of Euell and Skacel possibly returning to first team by playing a reserves match should contradict that early avowed intention to play the youth. Sometimes you need to take a step sideways, or backwards, in order to get to your goal. Maybe Skacel at LB would have helped on saturday, maybe Euell in MF would also.It does not mean the other young uns on the pitch/squad are not developing and presumably we are paying most of the salaries to those two even if they dont play, its just win and appearance bonusesw they are missing out on.... Its when its 11 old geezers and a kid on the bench that id get worried.... Its a subtlety which these pure action-reaction threads from posters totally miss. Jan HAS to use every trick he knows..........but the gist of it is that we need do it with the kids.....

Many thanks to the saints who called or texted or messaged information that we transmitted on the giordano1saints channel yesterday. I really really appreciated your efforts, without you the show would'nt be 1/10th as much fun and informative to fans worldwide. We peaked at 24 simultaneous viewers i think (up from 11 last week) which is a great increas!.... Its available to view now (all 105 mins of transmission) if you want to have some giggles looking at the idiot with the saints cap make a fool of himself being a live tv show presenter but who is totally biased towards 1 team.....lol. Anyhow, im proud of my team, even if we keep losing, at least we are losing the right way. ps especially Minty, red+white4life,Magnet, Northam Rich, Mike, LaManga neil...you know who u are...cheers guys!.....you superstars! Rasiak-9- i cannot show the match live. I can attempt, through our sfc contacts, to get live info from sms and away plus using every common media outlet available..to let saints around the world interact live with gio1saints tv channel to know whats going on. If you live in newcastle or overseas and cannot access hants radio or we are not on live then like all of us you are waiting biting your teeth expecting the oppos to score. gio1saints shares the angst live with u....tune in and forget the wife and kids,,,,,they dont understand whats going on(my apols to all saints supporting wives and kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!including my own kids!) . but its a kind of saints therapy!

As of 11pm we have 6 saints at sms saturday who may be calling/texting info to the gio1saints channel. Another 6-10 saints are possibles. I'm really grateful guys on the forum and from the list. Its a bit stressful but im sure it will be ok anchoring the show, there are other supporters who might help with info but at the end of the day its me with my comp, mobs, radio and tvs trying to put it out live as it happens and with the reaction that only a saints fan would give to the news....none of that oh dear stuff......i will be like any fan on the terraces singing my heart out for the team and occasionally writing and commentating! Oh. i will have a bottle of wine for sure during the match!

I will be broadcasting live again from 3pm on saturday during Saints brum, and as, before, would like to ask if there are any attendees who would like to either call or text me during the match so that I can relay your information live to the viewers logged on to http://www.justin.tv/gio1saintschannel I will anchor the show all the way through jeff spelling (sp?) on sky soccer saturday style except im only interested in saints, and maybe if pfc are losing ...everything that happens at sms that i can find out from all sources - but best of all from guys at the match calling me and telling me- will go live on the show....and there is a messaging service involved also. I am trying to get just one or two saints (or more) to call in from the match with anything you might think of interest- especially goals!!!! The broadcast will be recorded so you will see your input when you get home after the game - and im sure the guys online who cannot make it to sms and want someone to share the "3-5pm angst of being a saint" with fellow sufferers will be greatful. I wont be at those matches......fellow saints at the matches can call me/ text me with info from the matches that i will broadcast live. Plus i will add corroborative detail from other media sources, which, combined, with my pleasant, and i'd like to think reasonably knowledegable but totally saints-biased informed commentary will mean that, if like me, saturdays are hell because you know whats going to happen....well, we can share the angst by getting involved. See me devastated, live, on air, week after week- or ecstatic even.lol. The channel is easy to find. Google justin.tv. select "sport". select All channels, then soccer from the menus ( if im broadcasting though, select "live channels" ) think theres only about 40 channels in english after you've narrowed them down that way, and only one of them is for saints fans..... its called gio1saints channel. The cardiff "episode" can be accessed from there. Its in two parts- first half and second half...its the 1st attempt so its not great- but it has/had its moments if you can be bothered to watch through it all. I just need more live info from guys at the matches thats all...so do PM me for mob numbers......

Look for gio1saints channel on the sports broadcasts bit between 3pm and 5pm on a saturday and you should find me broadcasting. If i can recall the exact address i will put it back here later....

A reminder/ request to anyone on the forum going to saints birmingham... If you could kindly give me a PM I can give you my mobile number so that we can have "live" information on the webcast, skysports style. Please just txt or call with ANY INFO u want on sfc whilst at or around SMS. It will go out to directly whoever is watching! i think we got 9 or 10 viewers at the same time once and about 100 "views" all told during the transmission..... It kind-of worked with cardiff on saturday when i got a call in the 90th min - we got the news out before sky or setanta or the bbc told us (but not before the radio and i dont know if the goal was posted here before i chocked out those words,...). It wont take the place of the official written sfc updates or the forum during and post match threads but it does have the benefit of being "live" and broadcast and anchored by a real live saints supporter (ie me!). So the commentary and analysis is saints only....i got a sore throat from cardiff what with constant talking and my interpreting whats going on (and singing owtsgmi!) on air... being on air it gives it a bit more edge...plus of course its as up to date as anything else out there...more or less! give it a go and be part of something new!
