  1. JWP will clearly go, even if its on a season loan to see if we get straight back up. But zero chance he is playing the Championship next season. He will be after Beckham's record, will fancy playing in a better team will get him more England caps and at least half the PL would be interested in signing him (and money isnt really an issue for many these days). Overall though and judging by SR comments, they know the best chance to go straight back is to be strong and we will keep a few dexent players whilst probably adding others considering we will rake in easily £100m plus through sales. KWP, ABK and Lavia will probably get to that alone.
  2. KWP not in any of the pics. Jones said he was subbed as a precaution but it looked like a hamstring injury to me. He also said it was only cramp when Lavia went off at Anfield and it was a 2 month long cramp so hard to really trust what he says on injuries. Its as if he is so sensitive that he thinks people are going to have a go at him for a player being injured so goes into this defence mechanism mode saying there is no injury when it would just be better to say the player will be assessed and leave it at that.
  3. Is the upcoming Wolves game massive for our season? Yes Is our chance of winning this game improved by Jones not being in charge? Yes Is our chance of avoiding relegation improved by making a change now? Yes Is it cruel to knowingly subject an out of his depth manager to a fanbase that has totally and irreversably given up on him? Yes. Simple.
  4. Another angle on this, should the club really subject Jones to the ordeal of what Saturday will obviously become if he is still in charge? On a human level they have a duty of care to him, and unless they come out and verbally explain their thinking about this situation specifically it seems like he gets (literally) thrown to the Wolves. I thought when he was appointed it was odd to have nobody from the club comment on the reasons for hiring him as that might have slightly helped with the initial concern of the fanbase. For example, why was Semmens nor Ankersen at Jones first press conference with him? Even a brief video on the OS might have helped fans to understand their thinking. Can't think of anyone that benefits from this continuing.
  5. The fact its being reviewed after just over a month's worth of actual matches should be enough of a sign in itself. The fans aren't happy (understatement) The players aren't happy and are not winning. Jones isn't happy and isnt winning and there has to be a concern for him on a human level too. The metrics are shocking. The Board seemingly aren't happy. Review done. Decision made. For the sake of literally everyone.
  6. JWP was alluding to the fact some players aren't giving 100% after the game yesterday. That said, the ones that are will probably keep doing what they are told by a manager because they are good pros. However none of them will want to be relegated and whilst a fair few know they would get a move to another PL team some will be faced with relegation and contractual pahly cuts so I'm pretty sure even those who may like him would understand there has to be a change.
  7. Yes, according to Jacob Tanswell (a fee months back) he was the manager Semmens refered to in the 5Live interview where he said we monitor managers and someone who was high on our list had come into the PL and done very well (at that point he was). Issue with Lage is whilst Wolves were solid they were pathetic going forward, have still scored less than us this season.
  8. Although it feels its been the same every game for a while, surely if we are to have any kind of chance to stay up we simply have to get 3 points here. Considering we have just spent £60m and will have some home debuts ordinarily the fans would be up for it, but obviously Jones totally changes that. Big decisions for the club this week but if he is still in charge then somehow fans need to almost forget about him and get behind the team like the Everton fans did yesterday.
  9. Will he get relegated with Jones in charge? Absolutely yes. Will the fans accept having Jones in charge for next season in the Championship? No Therefore its kind of pointless carrying on, although I doubt Ankersen will admit his mistake so soon.

    CB Options

Personally I think our best CB is Salisu when he is settled and concentrated. ABK probably second, has great raw materials but definitely not been the same since the WC break and obviously struggled with injuries. Bednarek and DCC probably on a similar level and are obviously both more experienced, particularly Bednarek in PL terms. Lyanco just woeful. I can understand why Jones would play any combination of the others but now we have Bree, and soon Big Paul for helping with set plays, Lyanco wouldn't make the bench for me. Unfortunately none of them are good on the ball which IMO is one of the biggest reasons we struggle in a back 3. All are better defending the box rather than out wide and Salisu and Bednarek especially look so uncomfortable passing out from the back, whilst Lyanco is just too careless with his passing. Until ABK gets back to his early season form its Salisu plus Bednarek or DCC for me.
  11. Relegation because of various factors, most of which predate Jones. Should have fired Ralph in the summer and didnt have enough goals in the team, possibly still don't. We could improve quite substantially and still go down as not many teams look really poor. Its a bad season to be rubbish because most teams are decent and some who people thought would be in trouble are safe already.
  12. I'm not sure this is overly helpful. Regardless of anyone's opinion of Jones I don't think he will be replaced this season and certsinly not anytime soon. SR have just backed him with a lot of signings and also paid a considerable fee to get him in the first place. Ankersen doesn't strike me as someone who would cash out so soon after placing a bet, and he was the driver behind getting Jones. Yes he needs to get results, and fast - but surely now is the time for fans to get behind the team as they try to get the points we badly need rather than there being a constant atmosphere around the manager? No wonder we are better away.
  13. New lads will be bench at best. Hopefully will see our best midfield combination of Lavia, Alcaraz and JWP start. CB tombola will be interesting, Bednarek and Salisu I reckon with hopefully Bree at RB (assuming KWP injured) and Perraud in on the left. Could McCarthy make a comeback here now he is back training?

    Fans Forum

Answer: because the ones we have signed are 18-20 rather than 16 or 17 and are players clearly ready to come straight into a PL team and have an impact. I mean, there are good academy players and then there are different level academy players like Lavia. Larios is clearly better than Jake Vokins. Edozie clearly better than any 19 or 20 yo wingers we have/had. More interesting would be directly asking how we could have kept JJM or Dibling first time around? The answer would probably be: not much unfortunately.

The answer to Q1 is Jason Wilcox and Charlie Boss so please don't waste anyones time with that! Would be interesting to know more about the benefits Wilcox may bring though. Q2 is interesting Q3 pointless as they will obviously not say that Good question would be how they would approach this summer if we do get relegated.

    James Bree

After a shaky start in a team that wasn't setup right I thought Bree showed some glimpses of his quality, particularly on the ball where he seemed composed and also put a couple of nice crosses in, one of which Armstrong should have done much better with (sound familiar?) Noticeable that he is bigger and stronger than our other full back options. Sure he will start at the weekend in KWP's absence.
  17. FYI, Chelsea's best XI (and first team squad) contains more academy players in it than ours does. If he is good enough, and the signs suggest he quite possibly is, then he will make it. Massive blow to lose top talents and because he isn't on a pro deal the compensation is probably poor.

    Lyanco

He is definitely the weakest of our 5 CBs, yet is probably the one who has played the most under Jones. Surely he doesn't start at Brentford?!
  19. Will make a diffefence in that regard certainly. My only concerns, despite his good goal record: - Can we get enough runners around him to avoid him being quite static up front? Hopefully Kamaldeen, Edozie, Armstrong, Alcaraz can help here. - From open play will we revert to just smashing the ball up to him because he is big and good in the air rather than trying to build up and get crosses in from good positions? - He doesn't play 90mins very often in Belgium (reguarly subbed in the 60s) and the PL is much faster... Lets hope for no failed medicals...
  20. Vitinha - would be my preferred option but if Brighton are in its sadly a no-brainer to go there Onuachu - in his prime and excellent record. Would massively help defending set plays too so can see why we want him. Question marks on whether he will step up to a much higher level and also if he is suited to playing up front on his own. Would we end up just aimlessly hoofing to him? Sulemana - would be a great addition if we got one of the strikers as well. A little less so if just him but equally we don't really have a player of his profile so wouldn't say no. Of these it seems Onuachu is by far the most attainable for us, even more so given Rasmus links. Probably the cheapest too. However we are in prime "Southampton agreed a deal and the player was happy to make the move but <<<selling club>>> were unable to source a replacement so this is maybe one to revisit in the summer.>>> territory. Also, its clear we will just be getting one of these at most. Just for the slightly more deluded amongst us.
  21. They are just quoting Football Insider who are a fairly dreadful source reliability wise. Hard to get top excited as we have seen it all before and some of the sources that gain a lot of traction on Twitter especially are very questionable.
  22. Exactly. On the face of it a player with a contract rapidly expiring would be much better advised to sit it out and have more of a pick rather than rushing to join the bottom of the PL club right at the end of the window. If he does join, I reckon he would have an easily achieved get out clause if we go down, so perhaps on those terms it wouldnt be so stupid as at least would give him a shop window for a few months to attract PL offers.
  23. Via David Ornstein, The Athletic (we all know how this ends): Everton are also sure to be active in the last hours of the window. Buoyed by the £40million they received from Newcastle United for Anthony Gordon, they are attempting to reinvest some of the money straight away and buy a direct replacement in Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana (top-right photo). Everton made a verbal offer on Sunday and were waiting for a response from Rennes, who want in the region of €30m to get the deal done. Southampton, who are also trying to bring in a forward before the window shuts, have already had a €20m bid rejected but remain keen to recruit the 20-year-old Ghana international, while Bournemouth showed interest as well.
  24. Surely if anyone comes in from outside of the UK it will be known about by tomorrow morning at the latest as would need time to travel and do medicals etc. Hard to keep any deals from being reported these days so will be a concern if no concrete news soon.
  25. I think he is saying there are some fans that didn't get thst at 1-0 down and 5mins to go with 10men the key thing was to go into the second leg with something to play for rather than go 2-0 down and game over chasing an unlikely equaliser. Totally sensible yet clearly some fans, emotionally or whatever, expected us to pile forward. Regardless of what you think of NJ he is correct here 100%.
