  1. Chances of a Nathan Tella sitaution playing out again with Shea Charles?

    Ivan Juric

Results poor but I think Juric has at least sussed out most of our players, and knows what our issues are - intensity has improved and at least he is honest with supporters. He just doesn't really have the players to solve them - as would have been the case whoever had been appointed. It will be interesting in another 10 or so games to assess the liklihood of him still being in charge come August.
  3. Is there really any benefit in developing a player for someone else given the situation we are in? IMO any signings now should be with a view to that player more than likely being with us next season.

He would be more suited to this style but we effectively swapped him for Fernandes who is miles better (and will surely turn a big profit in the summer). Fernandes our best signing for many years IMO.
  5. After the dross he has served up over a couple of years I can't believe anyone would think he was anything other than superb last night, for the first hour at least. Juric has worked out that he needs to be given space to run into rather than marooned out wide against a team with men behind the ball. He can create a chance from the halfway line out of a nothing situation. Few players can rip someone apart like he did to Yoro last night, and whilst his final actions clearly werent perfect, they were getting closer and were productive in the Swansea game. Defenders hate facing players like that with 50 yards of space, and he is our only forward (Dibling aside) that will actually trouble defenders. At the very least if he continues to show this level we might get some good offers in the summer.
  6. A return to a high intensity model confirmed then after Juric hired too. Lets just hope for some stability.
  7. We did this brilliantly tonight and it really contributed to how well we played IMO. Much more purpose to it. Yes third goal was a big error but it was gone by then anyway.
  8. Whatever the manager has done on the training ground recently is clearly working...very well setup and great attacking fluidity. Depth wise we don't have it, but think he has pretty quickly sussed out the best way to play with these players. Will be quite interesting to see who comes in for Fernandes because he is top but obviously a bit under rhw radar because we have been so poor and Dibling gets the attention. Wouldnt be suprised if almost all the top PL clubs want him.

Quite noticeable in the press conferences so far that his English is very good but he chooses not to get drawn into lots of chat and just gives pretty direct and straightforward answers to the questions. Certainly comes across as quite authoritative, but probably quite hard work for local media especially. Intefesting the club havent really made much effort via their channels to build much rapport with supporters - I guess the situation is so bleak its possibly counterproductive. Would be interesting to see how he would go about a season in the Champ where there would be some level of expectation - this job feels like a thankless free pass for him really, still quite suprised he took it after a short stint at Roma too.
  10. Very disappointing to read that he hasnt been regularly training with the first team because we have too many players. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/24850154.southamptons-sam-amo-ameyaw-responds-loan-suggestion/ Can see him leaving in the summer as must be fed up with seemingly a lack of a coherent club plan for him.

A lot also commented about how Wilcox hadn't done anything and why on earth Man Utd wanted him (because he is good at it). RM was certainly not the same after he left.

Ankersen doing very well with Goztepe too... We need a DoF style appointment to knit the whole thing together like Wilcox did. In hindsight a lot started unravelling once he left.
  13. Hopefully, an end to a bizarre situation and stop him being brought up despite never playing.

    Ruben Selles

Strange. I thought the problem was he had a massively demoyivated squad without enough quality to have a hope of staying up. Pretty similar to Juric, although possibly some better lads in the current squad attitude wise.
  15. Very poor if we can't even beat Wigan to Brendan Wiredu.
  16. It is sustainable if you buy well. We will sell Fernandes for considerably more than we paid and someone like £20m Liam Delap will probably now be worth double that (and maybe a bit more). As ever, recruitment is the most important thing for a club to get right. Sadly, we have massively failed at that over the last 8 or 9 years.
  17. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/7493096.stm Was this move ever officially confirmed? If he still contracted he could do a job next season.
  18. He is a young player in his first season at this level. The issue is that because we don't believe in having any experienced senior pros who are proven at PL level we never really have the chance to take someone like THB out for a few games because the drop in quality is so big to the other options. Dibling also being flogged much more than he would be at pretty much any other PL club. Ditto Fernandes. Ramsdale was rushed back with fingers taped together, Sugawara thrown straight in and then has noticeably regressed.

    Ryan Fraser

https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/crime/ryan-fraser-wanted-appeal-leeds-4932227 Seems Leeds want Fraser, Rothwell connection mentioned.
  20. An idiotic appointment such as Juric who you think we would have a "good chance" of promotion with? Or the last guy who actually got us promoted?
  21. Imagine the club may want to sell and at least recoup something for him given we now have no chance of staying up. Not necessarily Leicester but wouldnt be overly suprised to see him move this window.
  22. Looks like we have missed out on Elliot Embleton who is set to move elsewhere.
  23. He could in theory be decent as a RCB in a back 3. But also hasnt played properly for two years and RM clearly had his reasons for leaving him out despite defensive struggles.

My main reaction this is good luck to him, relegation won't be on him and it sounds like from his track record we will be back to a style of player more aligned to Ralph and I think generally with inferior players that works better. Which is the situation we are in right now. My main concern is not about Juric but that SR seem to have gone from one extreme to the other which says a lot about their lack of joined up thinking. Would imagine that transfer targets for example would be very different in the two styles. Also hope he can get the best from Dibling (Martin managed him pretty well and seemingly built a string rapport), to keep his value high. It would be galling to lose him for an average PL player type figure when he is a generational talent.
  25. Not sure poor at best is really accurate. He did a very good job at Torino over a few years, with a run of a consistent, solid midtable finishes and was linked when we got rid of Ralph but was employed then. Played a high pressing style if I recall. Plenty of top league experience unlike many of those mentioned. Didnt go well at Roma but seemingly that waa in huge part due to the fans hating the Friedkin ownership.
