Relegation - What two teams do we take with us
Dusic replied to Lee On Solent Saint's topic in The Saints
Leicester have some sellable assets that will raise a decent bit of cash plus a few good players who would stay. Forest would be a mess, especially if Cooper goes. I reckon Everton and Forest would be best to drop. -
Co-owner Rasmus Ankersen: "Nathan's xAggression distribution plot shows that his aggression is relentless and edgy and his violent Luton side have recently been promoted to the PL to vindicate his work. He is highly skilled in counter surveillance and has learned a lot since he led our culture workstream in Q1 2023." Nathan is currently rehabbing from a superficial wound sustsined during a bootcamp exercise in Cranborne and once recovered will lead pre season at Llandudno alongside his assistants Neil Trotman and James Bree. In addition to this sought after appointment, the club is delighted to announce the resumption of our partnership with LD Sports.

Good luck to Wilcox because he has a huge job on his hands. - New manager - High profile sales - Deadwood clearance (Lyanco, DCC, Orsic etc) - Key signings to add leadership and Championship knowledge - Taking advantage of the PL loan market - Cultural shift - Updating the Playbook PDF Lets hope he is a.) still joining b.) fully aware of what he is walking into c.) given the space to do his job

He will. He would be mad not to, especially in a tournament year. Probably also faces a relegation pay cut. I doubt he has thoroughly enjoyed the last couple of seasons and he isn't that young anymore to waste a season. Assuming he doesn't do it before the end of this season, the Beckham record alone will motivate him to stay in the PL.

More chance of Shane Long starting the first game of next season for us than Lavia or JWP.

Recently, Lavia and Livramento both extremely good value pound for pound, especially Lavia who is probably a CL quality player already and cost what you would expect a very good Championship midfielder to be touted for. Aside from the often stated ones, Angus Gunn was a big waste of money.
-
Whwn Burnley sign him in the summer we will make a massive profit and get the kind of fee nobody would have imagined about 3 months ago. A rare loan that has worked out very well.
-
Biggest difference between him and our other options is he gets himself in positions to assist or score (even if he misses many up). He sees himself as a forward and not a midfielder.
-
I don't think we will risk him, especially with a break coming up. I reckon AMN will play RB.
-
Tella will push to leave for Burnley, thats obvious but at least we can now ask for £25m for him. I think clubs will come in for Livramento even despite his injuries. Diallo will surely go as only has a year left and obviously we won't offer him an extension. We will bring in a shitload of cash but will also need to spend a fair bit if we are serious about going straight back up.

I am not really nervous. This season feels different, in that we have been so bad, are on the third manager and based until now absolutely deserve to be relegated. We have a chance still, but I don't really have belief that we will take it. We can't keep winning 1-0 and don't have any obvious way of starting to score more goals - and that will be needed to stay up considering the fixtures we have. If we win tonight then maybe I will start to believe a bit, but I certainly don't expect us to win, and thats based on logic and factual patterns from this season rather than a deep rooted negativity. Its actually quite amazing that we aren't dead and buried already.

On his actually quite successful Gettr show, its him on camera sharing this stuff and often partnering with wallies like Dan Wootton. Its not an avatar its MLT himself and it seems to me he very clearly believes in and is passionate about what he says. As a kid in the 90s he was my absolute football hero and on the times I met him he was very nice, and I am sure he is a nice person, no reason at all to doubt that. But the radical views are definitely him just as clearly as the great goals were too. Personally I don't despise him but I feel a bit for him that he has become a laughing stock even if he hasn't realised it yet. Its a shame that he is becoming more known/ridiculed for his views than his football ability.
-
Isn't part of who you are the values and opinions you hold?
-
Nobody doubts what he has done as a sportsman. Thats separate from his views and high profile opinions. Its absolutely possible to love one aspect and totally despise the other. To be unable to have an opinion on his views because of what he did as a sportsperson is weak.

I was speaking to Ron and Neil about this at the masonic lodge. Lyanco as a front sweeper to cover the whole pitch and take out the ball recyclers JWP and Lavia. -----------Bazunu------------- KWP--Bednarek----ABK---Perraud <<<<<<<<<Lyanco>>>>>>>>>> --------------Aribo--------------- Sulemana--Stu---Walcott----Adams

Just been through the predictor and it came out exactly as I wanted it to. Made sure I picked 3 teams and almost always predicted them to lose. Those 3 ended up being relegated and Saints stayed up. If anyone needs any help getting a positive outcome from their predictions fire me over a DM.

We know Djenepo isnt good enough at PL level. I maintain that in the league I can recall Edozie having a positive impact off the bench more than once. Can't think of any other player that applies to.
-
Very suprised Edozie starts for the B team tonight and seemingly won't be involved tomorrow. Pretty much our only attacker who looks comfortable with the ball at his feet and usually takes the positive option. IMO he should be starting, and as an absolute minimum coming on as a sub. Certainly ahead of Djenepo, Aribo or Adam Armstrong.
-
This by a mile. I get why people don't rate Elyounoussi but find it hard to hate him as he gives everything and seems like a good guy, he is just limited and unsuited to the PL.
-
Two key things if Onuachu plays: 1. He has to play with a partner or someone just off him. When people write 433 formations it looks great but we know it becomes 451 and an isolated striker. He doesnt have the pace for that. 2. We need to be better at putting crosses into the box to take advantage of Onuachu's height. Crazy to have barely put one good ball in since he joined.
-
Ive seen lots of people suggest this, and its has merits, but I can't be the only one that thinks Onuachu needs a partner? Might be different when you play in the top team in Belgium but playing this formation with the bottom team in the PL I think he would end up isolated and immobile. Seeing as the only player aside from JWP who has proven he can score goals occassionally in the PL is Che Adams, I wonder if we go back to a front two with them and then Sulemana and someone else as the 10s in a 4-2-2-2? We need to be picking the players most likely to score and for all his faults Adams is more likely to than most of the players in your suggested lineup.
-
Wonder if we would consider loaning him out for a year? He is on a long contract so his value won't drop much in that time, especially if he stays in the PL. If we go straight back up he comes back and if not then he can go permanently. IMO if someone like Spurs or Chelsea wanted him there is no real need for them to wait til we are relegated, they would have moved sooner. I could see him at Brighton, especially if they get into Europe. Will likely lose Caicedo and MacAllister this summer so cash no issue.

The main Selles related thing about tomorrow is that if we do lose, it shouldn't be a case of "well we shouldn't have appointed him yesterday". Every team and manager loses games. If we go down it won't be because of Selles. The difference in the team vs Chelsea shows he has made an impact. It shows he knows tactically how to set the team up and everything suggests the players are behind him. He also represents the club well. He deserves us to judge him over a run of games and also to be judged considering the context. He could do a very good job, be worthy of a longer contract and we still lose tomorrow or still go down. Out situation is still pretty dismal in terms of the table but in a sense what happens from now is a free hit because based on the season until now we deserve to be relegated. Selles has no pressure.
