  1. Probably not a bad thing as we should have a few more players back by the time its played.
  2. Aside from pace, Obafemi had (has) nothing. Mara clearly does and IMO worth persisting with, especially as he is a sub most of the time. Clearly he shows quality in training as Hasenhuttl, Jones and Martin have all talked him up, especially his finishing. Perhaps it will click into place for him soon...
  3. His injury can't be too bad and I guess the demand as a GK is different to that of an outfielder so a good way to rehab him. Good for him to recover a bit closer to home and then come back next season fully fit and ready to go.
  4. He came from Dyson and has never worked north of Oxford, pal. -------- E-I-E-I-E-I-O, Phil Parsons is our CEO, From Dyson to the Championship, As part of Rasmus' power trip (We hate Pompey)
  5. We had him on loan, We had him on loan, Kevin Danso, we had him on loan
  6. Again, it hinges on Adams. We didnt expect Stewart to be up to speed until December anyway and the club will probably accept decent offers for Adams in Jan considering his contract situation. If he goes then obviously we need someone. If he doesnt then we have Adams, Armstring and Mara, with Alcaraz able to play up there if we have a mad injury crisis and arguably Sulemana when he is back. It also seems Stewart might be available near the end of the season if absolutely needed. To loan someone in who is better than all of those three would be pretty tough, not to mention costly when we are clearly up against it FFP wise considering how much we spent during our last PL season. We don't need squad fillers, we need players who will improve our starting XI if we make any signings.
  7. Disagree, unless we were bringing someone in who was clearly better than Adams - which is highly unlikely, especially if we didnt have the wages/fee saving from selling Adams. IMO we will only get a striker if Adams (or Mara) were to leave. Wide right player is more important I think. Edozie aside, the amount of goals (or goals per mins) from our attacking midfielders is poor and a clear area to target an improvement.
  8. Although he is under contract until 2025 so better for Everton if he is playing somewhere and attracting interest for the summer window either for perm move or at least a coub that can pay a decent percentage of his wages on another loan. I imagine Everton will happily recall him once he has found an agreement with another team and when that team agree to at least match whatever financials are involved now. No need for them to recall him before then as they don't want to end up being stuck with him and his full wages for the rest of the season if another move were to break down.
  9. IMO, and obviously if fit: -------------Lumley------------ Abu--Stephens--Holgate/Awe---Meghoma -----------Charles-------------- ----Smallbone-----Alcaraz----- Sam Amo--------------Dibling --------------Mara----------- Back four have played so many minutes there is zero point involving them and if Dibling doesnt play at home to Walsall when will he? Strong attacking bench to use if needed.

    That 2023 Review

Onuachu clearly a worse signing than Orsic because of the financial loss. Orsic was a cheap gamble who we already have off the books.
  11. Edozie, Fraser and Sulemana all play best off the left, SAA is unproven and a sub option at best. If we can bring in someone with a bit of unpredictability on the right side then its worth it.
  12. Don't see the issue with it. RM hasnt hidden his political views, wasn't rude and gave an honest answer to a fairly wanky question. Would rather have a manager who actually has a view than a sap who gives non answers to every question they are asked (see Eddie Howe for example who has been pathetic on the Saudi related questions). And WTF was that camera about - laughable.
  13. As with most results, there are a combination of factors, some of which can't actually be controlled by Russell Martin or Sport Republic. RM was very clear that it would take a bit of time for the players to get fully up to speed with his style, and that confidence was understandably low amongst the players who experienced relegation. Whilst it suits you and a few others who consistently slagged him and his style since the start to say we have massively changed style of late, and he has fixed our defence etc, the reality is we play with the same principles as we have all season, its just that we are further along the line of the process that RM described, and have also playes some poor sides of late, with obviously some tweaks thrown in as would be the case with any good manager. Eventually we will lose, and whenever that is (maybe today) it will probably be a combination us not executing our style as well as we have lately and the opponent playing well, which is also allowed to happen. It won't be because Russell Martin tells the players to play what you call "crab football".
  14. So basically you enjoy the style in the games where everything comes together well and we win easily. I'm sure the manager does too! FFS Russell Martin, please ask the players to win 4-0 or 5-0 every week.
  15. If our biggest worry is our left back, who has played for Russell Martin thw longest out of anyone, doing something the manager is asking of him and sometimes being a bit too narrow then I think thats a sign we are in good shape.
  16. I always remembered him playing from the right for Bmth but RM seems to prefer him from the left, where Edozie is also better. If we can get someone in who plays on the right then it would make sense but only if they are a starting XI player.
  17. Wouldn't be remotely bothered about taking an AFCON player if they were the right person - especially as our toughest spell is March to end of the season. Its not like our squad is so small and crap that we cannot cope with what we have until February. In the case of Diallo specifically, having been out injured he would benefit from AFCON games anyway.
  18. 15 matches unbeaten, transformed style of play (at club's request), involving almost all players in the squad and on the cusp of 2pts/game. Very good job so far!
  19. Why? We could draw and be closer to it than at the start of the day. It will rumble on but the next 3 or 4 games a really good points total could put us in a very good position.
  20. Leeds win is definitely the best result for us, especially as Ipswich play Leicester next. Auto promotion is definitely not a done deal as being Leicester and Ipswich, despite what a few on here said a week ago.

    Sport Republic

#GozGoz only conceded 9 in 16 games this season. Lis must be doing something right.

    Danny Ings

Cheers Ron. Nice to see you and Dale the other day at bingo.
  23. Bednarek has to be up there, especially as he is playing and thriving in a style fee thought he had the skillset to adapt to.
  24. Leicester cooking but Birmingham pre-heated the oven for them.
